This only means that Erina is about to get into the picture more, even after that arc is done. So first comes friends, then comes love. Much later. But either way, Erina time is now. Hell yeah!

This could actually be make or break for the series. If you guys are trope-savvy, then this next arc could be the cerebrus syndrome and a growing the beard moment. I wouldn't be surprised if her father has bad blood with Jouichi (and Gin) with Jouichi being more of a father to Erina unlike his (maybe) abusive father while he was with her.

Heck, I could see this guy instantly recognizing Soma and immediately addresses him with Jouichirou's family name in front of Erina. This will eventually driver her over the edge, though she finally comes to terms with it later.

OK that's one scary looking father, they've taken a completely different route with him, normally you think of a scary father you think like those grizzly bears that just look intimidating, or the smart inteliigent type. Erina's father looks lie a Bond Villian or a vampire I can't decide.

 

He would not look out of place in a torture scene where he is enjoying a steak dinner whilst he is casually sticking hot pokers into his victim and drinking their blood from a wine glass.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had ties with the underworld. Which might be a plot point although it's sadly "been there, done that" in cooking mangas.

You know I never considered the possability of Erina's father knowing Jouichiro or having a history with him, heck I didn't even expect him to be introduced in a story driven role at all. I'd always thought if there was a link it would be through Erina and Souma's mothers, I have no idea why I'd just assumed that the two mothers were linked through friendship or something. Also assumed the Nakira name was inherited through her mother as well, though that could still be the case, Erina's hair does seem similar to her grandfathers in a more feminine way.

 

Then again we are all assuming he's a scary person, but so is the grandfather at first glance which isn't the case at all, for all we know he could be a clumsy fool who is a Baka-Otou, and Erina's fear of him stems from him being over protective and giving her no room to do anything.

 

Edit: That could be a running gag, like Alice and her mother, first introduced like elegant ladies but both are very childish. Erina is a proper Ojou but in reality she very girly who has a fun side to her.

Well, we need to know where the girly part comes from. If the father is what he seems to be, this could be troublesome. In fact, it made sense for Alice wise, but for Erina for that attitude and all minus the normal life traits, it could be either from the father (highly likely) or the mother.
