My only complaint with this movie. Is that Kishi could've easily resolve Hinata's situation in the manga. There was no need to contrive a brand new villain just so you can close the Hinata chapter. That's what really annoys me about this.
This movie is purely made for Hinata and maybe just maybe we're going to get a proper backstory to Kaguya.
Well, I don't disagree. I have zero interest in a movie about Hinata or her emotional issues. I got a can full of her whimpering and hand-wringing in the manga.
But a movie like this is Kishimoto's style. He didn't get everything he wanted crammed into the manga -- because in his own words he "threw in too much" and didn't get it all wrapped up. It was the same with RtN; he wanted to do some things that didn't fit or he couldn't work into the main story, so he did a movie.
And I think Kishimoto owes his reading public a proper backstory on Kaguya. His execution of that part of the story was lackluster to say the least.
As for me, it really grinds my gears that Kishimoto is retconning some crap about Naruto snubbing Hinata as a child. If the Naruto fandom needed more proof that Naruto and Hinata had next to zero mutual development, it is proven by the fact that retcon dipshittery like that is necessary to even give Hinata a plot in which to interact with Naruto.
