The more chapters I read the more I think that Jinbei is likely to join the crew or at least form some kind of alliance with them => like whitebeard had all those pirate crews under his command

I don't know...he doesn't seem to be strawhat material to me. Probably will be their ally. They'll need alot of alliances if they want to fight the world government.

Anyway where's Vivi? We haven't seen her since the timeskip.

We"ll probably see Vivi when the newspapers announce the return of the Straw hats.

At least I think they'll announce it if you look at the amount of trouble they caused at the archipelago (again).

The newspapers are already sent across the world. The mini-volume on the cover pages show people the crew have met reading the papers. So far they haven't shown Vivi yet. I guess Oda is saving her appearance for later.

Oh, I always thought that those were only some kind of cover withouth any meaning to the story (like Usopp swimming with beavers etc. ) so never paid much attention to them. Thx for clarifying.

I only read the manga starting from halfway the war so I don't know about other times they've shown vivi in the anime how it was displayed in the manga (the same way?) or was it actually in the manga (by which I mean not in the cover). Either way I'm not to bothered with it unless they run in to her again...

Whoa that's the same newspaper Mr Multi-culs (names alludes me) is holding. It's these little things that make me think how much of a genius Oda is. We'll probably see Vivi on next weeks cover with her pops, or/and with Carou and the hentai Camel...come to think of it there might still be two more covers showing the charactors from that island.

Well those covers are pointless but allot of them tell a story, they've shown what the strawhats were up to whilst Luffy was on his mission to save Ace, they've shown what CP9 did after they lost to the Strawhats, they even showed Hakchan's journey from East Blue, to meeting Camie, starting his Takoyoki stand, over a year before he was seen in the Main story.

mangastream one piece chapter 640
mangareader one piece chapter 640

Allright chapter however I don't exactly understand what that horn attack eleven was all about and what did Usopp mean with exiting without leaving a hole?

The anime has finally reached the timeskip and this is the new opening for it. Cool animation but the song needs a few listens before getting used to. Its not really great at first listen.

Yeah agree with both the above comments, it does have a retro feel to it, and i'll need a bit more time to get used to it. I loved the last opening, probably my favourite One Piece opening song, and that's saying something as i've liked all the openings from One Piece so far.

about the opening => It's outright awesome I think it's the first openings in which they actually fight a whole navy fleet where they're not trying to flee.

mangastream chapter 643

Thanks to this chapter I got a whole new opinion of the devil fruit powers from Brook and Robin. Especially brook's...

He's accepted that part of him, so probably why he can control it, a bit like in Naruto and Yami Naruto, first step is acceptence.

Yeah was wondering how Oda would convincingly power-up Brook considering he's been around for a very long time already so two years shouldn't make a difference right? but Oda's done a good job with this.

So is the enemy now defeated? this battle has been strange in that there doesn't appear to be much fighting but just talking...I'd say if it wasn't for the new powers and Mermaid Princess, this would be the most dissapointing arc to date.

But there is probably still a way to go with the Princess fully unlocking her powers to communicate with the Sea Kings, and the Carabou(?) guy who is kidnapping the mermaids.

JINBEI'S JOINING THE CREW!! Omg! I was hoping that he didn't get an invitation because I don't really like the idea of him joining the crew. But so far there's no other fishman that qualifies so I guess he will do.

And Caribou, just what is he planning? Haven't heard news about him for a long time. Why did he let the mermaids go? That's certainly weird for his behavior.

Well I guess there's no denying it after seeing this... --Click here to view--

I'm still not sold on Jinbie being a crew member of the Strawhats, nothing wrong with him personally but the fact he is probably still stronger than Luffy, was a former Shichibukai at top captain level ability make me wonder who exactly is he meant to fight during their next war?

Luffy always gets the strongest, then Zoro second and Sanji third, it just would not make sence for the strongest to fight the fourth (and usually irrelevant) person on the opposing side.

I wonder how Carou managed to get out of the country unnoticed? with All the Gold, I know there were distracted but does his ability allow him to swallow all the treasure or something?

Yeah he's power is being able to store things in his body and turn it into mud as well. So the mermaids were essentially "part of him" for awhile.

And yeah I also feel the same way with Jinbei. It felt out of place when Luffy ask him to join. He is not strawhat material to me. But when Luffy asks someone to join his crew he wont change his mind. Lets see next chapter. I'm clinging to the small hope that Oda is trolling us with giving us superficial signs on him joining. By that I mean him posing in a group shot with the strawhats. Him joining will definitely disturb the monster trio dynamic. dry.gif

I can actually see a couple of things that would be relevant in Jimbe actually joining:

first, I got the impression that Luffy's at least as strong as Jimbe. I even got the impression that Jimbe and Sanji would be on par.

If that is the case I think Jimbe would actually be able to get the 4th place in the straw hat crew. Especially considering the huge power up each member has had
(correct english?)(thinking how franky handled the 200+ million belli/berri caribou on the ship, even when Luffy, Zoro and Sanji where missing. And he had only a bounty of 44 (or smthng) million belli/berri bounty.

second, I haven't seen or heard anything about Jimbe having a crew of his own dispite being out of prison for about 2y. (never heard anything from before either)

third, He kind of got the depressing/hard past that each of the members has.

fourth, He really looks really awesome on that cover... tongue.gif

EDIT: I could still be mistaken about those power ups though in that case I think I go with my former theory of Jimbe's crew forging some kind of alliance with Luffy and the others and using their combined reputations to protect Fish Man Island like Whitebeards reputation once did.

Using only the reputation for the straw hats for protecting that Island, would be the same as saying their strength is equal to the strength of whitebeards crew, right?
And tbh I don't exactly see the straw hats taking on the Marine headquarters by themselves (or even with their friends).

[end edit]

About Caribou:

I think he's still on that island after all he still wants to kill the Straw hats, right?
also I think that he let the mermaids go because even his devil fruit ability has a limit to how much it can absorb. And the treasure would have been worth more than the mermaids.

Jinbei is definitely on par with the monster trio. That's why I'm worried that he will disrupt the dynamic. I'm not sure whether Sanji, the weakest of the trio, is stronger than Jinbei though.

Well after Jinbei's betrayal the Sun Pirates no longer receive pardon so they have to leave Fishman Island. It has not been confirmed that they have regrouped to form the Sun pirates again so we have to see confirmation from Oda first.

The flashback that was shown in this arc isn't exactly his personal one. Its more about the Sun Pirates in general. We could still get a flashback of his younger days before he joined the Neptune army when he is training in the Fishman Dojo. Though I think its too late for that already.

Yup he does look awesome standing together with the crew, that I must admit.

Big Mam has already taken over the island so unless there's resolution with that Yonkou itself, I don't think the Strawhats will take over even if they did save the island. I have a feeling she'll appear within the next few chapters.

And yeah I agree with Caribou's storage limit. The most important thing is now that he has the Urashima's casket, what will he do with it? My guess would have something to do with Shirahoshi. I mean he was very interested in kidnapping her. He would somehow kidnap the princess and the casket will be used on her somehow. She'll grow older and split her fin. I know it sounds ridiculous but who else would the casket be used upon. I link the "ability to make one older" to "fin splitting at the age of 30" so consequently I linked the casket will be used on a mermaid/man. Right now it is in Caribou's possession and he's interested in the princess so I just connected the dots.

Now that the arc is ending I am definitely very interested to see what's going to happen next. Twists and interesting reveals and happenings usually happen at the end of an arc. Its going to be an awesome new year's cliffhanger. I can just feel it.
