That kind of traditional view also exist here..but it was really outdated and people don't really have that kind of double standard implement anymore..so I'm not surprised if JP fans were mad at it. i can't believe that such mindset was still exist, and Kishi was a living proof for it makes me like

I don't think he even knew his fanbase was basically exploded. Probably the physical evidences were there from the way they treated the outcome, or the '100 hate letters' trend that he probably be receiving now. but all of that might probably be covered up by some people with greed by saying outside of the nutshell, his product will still have some reception. The part 3 will most probably to cater this certain part of situation so that he can survive for the time being.

Not right now, unfortunately. I wasn't prepared to get booted out of the Naruto fandom, what with the sudden ending of the manga and the terrible state of shipping! If I'd had any idea how fast and bad it was all going to go down, I probably would have started reading other mangas and moving away from Naruto! Lol - but I guess that's what Kishimoto was expecting, hence the craptastic ambush of an ending!

 

I loved FMA, and I've been watching all the buzz around AoT and TG, so maybe I'll check those out since I am currently manga-less! I've tried to read One Piece, but I just couldn't get into it. The illustrations were a little too crazy.

 

I have to admit, if/when I get into another manga, I certainly won't read it expecting it to end in my favor, even if my ship is the OTP and all signs point to the story having a sensible and satisfying resolution. Naruto was so completely botched, after his love for Sakura was so completely assured, by even Naruto himself, that I don't think I'll trust another series ending until it's all said and done. If Kishimoto, writer of the world's most popular manga, could sell out his entire 15-year series for just a little more money, then I'm sure less-experienced writers for less-popular mangas could do the same. 

 

Not jaded or bitter, but I just won't go into it with such blind faith in the story and the author again.

Yeah, damn right it is. All you have to do is really take a look here to see some of the effect; this forum isn't as active as it was 6 months ago. The ending really hit a lot of people hard.

I am pretty sure that is an older poll. KakaIru is not nearly as popular as it once was. I never see JiraTsu anywhere on Japanese fanart sites. KakaSaku seems way more popular than KakaSasu. GaaNaru and MinaKushi should be up there. NejiHina and KakaObi also seem popular. And ShikaTema could be a top 5 ship now. ShikaTema really exploded in Japan after 700.

And yes, NaruHina would probably place in the top 10 now. But it took Kishi rewriting the entire manga and a stupid movie to make it somewhat popular in Japan. And for every fan, it probably gained two haters.

I don't think anyone expected to be kicked to the curb as we have been.

AoT and TG are worth it, judging by the slightly darker themed, more mature settings of your fics, you'd probably enjoy them both. Mother of god a TouKen story written by you would be a dream come true XD. Yeah, Oda's illustrations are much different than most other manga's. It always seemed to me like his illustrations were a way to really create his own world. Whereas other illustrations, like Naruto for instance, are more "realistic" Oda tends to opt for a more creative type of art, like he was trying to detach you from your world and reel you into his. I might be looking too much into it though XD if you could ever get used to the art, the story is definitely worth it.

I feel much the same, I find it pretty hard to trust the intent of writers now. I'll always trust Oda, because his reputation is that he writes his own story, and he doesn't let anyone tell him how to write it, and also Ishida Sui (the guy who writes TG). His style of writing kind of forced me to trust him lol but in general, I think I'll probably approach writings/manga in a more cynical way than before.

I think even this, most of the mangakas probably would take this as a lesson to themselves. It was kind of a miracle that when this unexpected twist happen, Japan fandom didn't fall to chaos physically (for example riot or raid to Kishi personal home or something to voice out their displeased), but media-wise that was another different story. Like you, I think most fans now won't put a complete and unwavering faith to any of the author they support, to their stories, its direction, and the subtle shipping that probably exists, until evidence of their support was real and/or being clarified by the author himself of how the ending will occur.

 

Maybe there will be some exceptions, depending on the consistency they had been giving, but generally it will be like this.

So I was talking with my ex-girlfriend after months, and we were just catching up on life. While doing so we suddenly got to the topic of Naruto's ending, and She told me that her best friend told her that "You know it's funny how Zuko and Sasuke are alike, they're both confused evil people who become good in the end." and that really pissed her off. I tried once to watch his rant and 'reviews', but I change to other more useful videos after like, less than 10 seconds because all I can hear was an immature person trying to show his judgement in a 'wise' way. Not to mention it was boring to me.
