I really don't get the issue with some generalizations when it's bringing up a critical point, but that's just me.

Okay guys, America is a nice country and it has really nice people, it's just that the loudest are usually the ones who act, do, and say things that paint the US negatively. The government(like every government in the world) does what benefits them(and the people who pay them the $$$$) the most.

 

Now can we please stop discussing this, it isn't the thread for it

Capitalism has it's problems but i have yet to see a better option. Our technological society is way too complex.

Not only that but I cannot urge enough that Capitalism/consumerism is killing off our planet. 

 

And America was never a "democracy". It was always a "polyarchy". Americans are brainwashed into believing that they actually have control over their own government, which they don't. So whenever you hear someone say "America is the best!" remember that they're ignorant to what's really going on in our country. :(

 

I think you are overstating American ignorance towards the problems of our government and the extent to which we're truly represented.

Capitalism isn't killing off our planet, wtf? And no, while you're correct in your claim that it isn't a democracy, the government system is a republic, not a "polyarchy".

Capitalism is killing off our planet.  It's as simple as this: 

 

  1. Capitalism is a gateway for the perfect rags to riches story. However, in order for capitalism to work it has to keep the "rags". 
  2. Capitalism leads to major corporations who take out significant loans from banks in order to control America's politics. Take for instance presidential runs. We've become a nation who spends over a billion dollars just to get a president "nominated". All for the interest of corporations, who are now seen as "people". 
  3. In order for capitalism to work, our nation has to stay in debt. Going back to corporations, I should tell you that none of them pay their taxes. If they did, money would easily flow back in our currency, and there would be no "rags". 
  4. Finally, capitalism is one of the biggest reasons why people refuse to move on to cleaner energy sources such as nuclear and solar energy. Instead we as America rely on wars in order to obtain more crude oil. Not to mention the horrids of our food and health industry. All of that is thanks to capitalism.  

Dear god I'm ending up in a debate again...no hard feelings okay?
