Gah...this is exactly how I feel. I honestly don't think that Sasuke will survive to the end. Seriously. He's served his purpose, to create the necessary tension to move the story along, so now all that's left is for him and Itachi to duke it out, with one, or both, kicking the bucket. As Aethos said (and I have said numerous times in debate threads >< people are stupid...) SASUKE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO WALTZ BACK INTO THE VILLAGE WITHOUT PAYING SOME SORT OF PRICE. SORRY, BUT THAT'S THE WAY IT IS. Konoha has a reputation to maintain, and how bad would it look if they, a) let Sasuke escape in the first place and then b.) welcomed him back without consequence? Not good. So, do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, so to speak. *sigh*

Umm i guess im way too late to say this but i remenber when ppl asked why Naruto would like Sakura? they say something like blah blah Sakura is pretty and that's all but i just saw chapter 3 in the manga and it shows why Naruto likes Sakura ummm it's because she wants to be acknowledge by Sasuke and Naruto wants it too. I guess that they forgot to reread the early chapter

Well, Faucon, quite a few people just skim the manga and don't pay attention to the developments that each character goes through. It's a real shame because the story becomes so much richer when you can catch all the subtle hints Kishimoto pens in. The real reason Naruto loves Sakura is because they are so alike, they also have the very same wish - to be loved and acknowledged by others.

Now, I was just looking through Episode 109/Chapter 181. It's the perfect funeral for SasuSaku. I haven't put the comic together yet, but here are a few notes:

First off. Sakura asks Sasuke if he remembers the first time they were alone. That was the same day they got teamed up. Which means that they do not share any history we have yet to see. They NEVER knew each other before they became teammates. Which is funny considering that Sakura allegedly had a crush on him a few years before they became genin.

Second. Sakura says that Sasuke has always been quiet to her, always pushed her away and spurned her efforts to get closer to him. In fact, I believe that the only time she could have felt closer to him was... the henge Sasuke. She still doesn't know (as far as we can see) that it was really Naruto.

So... Naruto's Henge could possibly be the ONLY moment Sakura could have possibly felt like she had glimpsed the real Sasuke. That glimpse made her fall deeper for him, thinking that he was really the perfect guy for her deep down while he actually wasn't. The real Sasuke got mad at Sakura after she insulted Naruto, so it's quite possible that she has been trying hard to make up for her mistake.

So, Sakura knows Sasuke does not return her feelings.

Thirdly. Sasuke only thinks of Team 7 as a whole. The only memories that tug at him are of him, Sakura, Naruto and Kakashi TOGETHER. He doesn't feel anything for Sakura asides from comradeship/friendship. He even rejected Sakura after she declared her feelings.

Fourth. Contrary to what some SasuSakus claim, Sakura did NOT make any promises. She was just pleading with Sasuke. She did not promise to wait for him, be there for him or whatever. She said she would do anything IF Sasuke stayed. He didn't.

Fifth. When Sasuke walked on after hearing Sakura's declaration. That's rejection - he chose power over her. He had the choice between the Sound and her, and he chose the Sound. Therefore, he rejected Sakura. It's really that simple. Also, as he walked on, Sakura did NOT try to go with him. Instead, she threatened to scream out for the guards. This proves that she was really doing anything she could to get Sasuke to STAY, away from Orochimaru. Sasuke only knocked her out because he wanted to get away without any ANBU on his tail. He knew she wouldn't follow him, which is one reason he simply walked on at first.

Put 109/181 and 110/183 together, and you see a massive shift in Sakura's thoughts. She had big realisations about both boys.

I think that the reason Tsunade hasn't already sent out any ANBU is because Konoha is short on shinobi. After all, Team Shikamaru was all she could spare. It's already too late to send them out now because Sasuke is safely tucked up in the Sound Village, and to try to kill/capture him from there while Konoha is still weak would be suicide.

I'm 100% with Ash on her post. Sasuke IS going to pay the price sooner or later. Also, even if he returns to Konoha, why on earth would Sakura still stick with him? Three years is a long time, and she already knows that he doesn't love her, while she is looking at Naruto more and more because of everything he has done for her.

Hell, Naruto didn't even tell Sakura he saved her from Gaara. I highly doubt he's told her about any of his heroics and good deeds. The only one he's really talked to about his adventures is Iruka!

You know, I liked Tsunade's smile at Chapter 236. She knows how Naruto feels about Sakura, and when Sakura promised Naruto she would go with him next time, you could see Tsunade smiling to herself. It's as if she's thinking there is some hope for Naruto's feelings now.

Aethos, I hate those fanfics as well. But what I REALLY hate are the fanfics done by fangirls who just go for looks. I mean, there are more SasuSakuNeji triangles than NaruSakuSasu! You wouldn't believe the amount of Sakura triangle stories where she gets linked with Sasuke, Itachi, Neji and Kakashi. Poor Naruto is left right out in the cold because he doesn't look "cool" enough!

Oh, I think he should look great.

He could even grow a ponytail like Jiraiya (but smoother looking). I don't think he'll have Yondaime sideburn things because Yondaime already had them when he was a kid, and I'm sure Kishi would want to make sure that no-one confused Naruto and Yondaime in the manga.

Then maybe the fangirls will FINALLY include Naruto in their Sakura triangles.

I'm thinking he will be quieter as well - he'll still be loud but know when to keep quiet! He's already shown a few signs of maturing during the series, and I see that continuing.

Naruto's going to look good, and Sasuke will likely look quite pale and a bit evil.

I agree with everyone that Sasuke is gonna get it when he comes back (I believe Naruto will keep his promise to Sakura no matter what). I think he'd be put on trial and maybe given a probationary sentence at best.

ARG! *rips out hair* I'm having the most difficult time with my fic! There's this one bit of dialogue I just cannot get! I've rewritten it 5 times now and I still can't get it! It's Chapter 22, and it's the most NaruSaku chapter yet and I can't figure ouot the cutest scene! ARGs! I'm at the point where I'm considering posting it here for advice! >.< My brain hurts. I'm so confused. Someone tell me what I should do...

Hehe, no problem, Sori. As you know, you can always rely on me to blabber on about the relationships in "Naruto" at great length. That's because they're my favourite part of the series - the characters are so great.

I agree with your points, guys. So many of the pairings are done because of clich?s elsewhere. Such as the jock/cheerleader thing you once talked about, Aethos.

It can go smoothly then all of a sudden you don't know how one or both characters would put what they think into words/actions. It's like going from A to C, and tripping over B.

Kishimoto is a good storyteller, so I'm sure we can trust him to write a great plot.   I mean, he hasn't really gone wrong so far has he? (except for 238 if that was really the goodbye scene, hehe)  Hell, if he wanted N***H*** and S***S*** to happen, he would have buried NaruSaku so long ago.

I really hope 238 was just 1/3 of what actually happened with goodbyes. I really liked that Kishi did a nice little let's-see-what-all-the-genins-are-up-to thing, but it did seem sort of ... hanging. Meh maybe when grown-up Naruto comes back to Konoha he'll intersperse farewell flashbacks of Naruto with his important people (Sakura, Kakashi, Iruka, maybe Tsunade) with scenes where he is welcomed by the very same people again. Nice contrast effect and all that. Or he could do the farewell flashbacks as Naruto and Jiraiya are on the way back to Konoha to build anticipation. Now that I look at the possibilities, if it does unfold either of those ways the reintroduction impact would prolly be greater rather than say, complete farewells in 238 which would have been a tad conventional. But if I'm totally off and only Iruka said a proper farewell Smiter-kun will be the first to have a fit

Or it could mean absolutely nothing since her approach to Naruto still didn't change even though she had that whole I-want-to-be-stronger revelation after she fought Neji. You got that damn right, hehe. My hate of 238 is well known, it was such a let down when its preview trumpted "Naruto leaves Konoha! Now, one parting!" I was so pumped for a great, emotional chapter that would show Naruto bidding farewell to his important people, maybe even a NaruSaku scene that would tug at the heartstrings.

Instead, only one of my predictions came true - a last meal at Ichiraku with Iruka! Most of the chapter wasn't even about Naruto leaving! Gah!

Still, I like your idea. We could even see Sakura and Naruto approaching their reunion, they're not completely revealed until we see them together (we only see cropped shots and obscure close ups) - and we have flashbacks from both as it builds up.

Of course, I'm still hopeful we get a nice proper goodbye. After all, the Inane translation was one parting. Hopefully that means there will be more.

What I want for Christmas (or whenever we get back to the main story), Kishimoto-sama, is a very touching NaruSaku parting/reunion scene. *in a whiny, pleading tone* Pllleeeaassseee....

I think you're absolutely right! I was a little worried (well, I'm still certain NaruSaku will happen, but you know what I mean regarding Hinata fanboyism.) that Hinata would be pushed in as Sakura's "rival" and so start another anti-Sakura hate thing from intellectually-challenged fanboys. But it makes sense that Hinata is just going for another "get stronger" thing, since she STILL hasn't even gone up to Naruto to talk to him. I hope it is that, hehe.

While a SakuNaruHina would add tension, I would actually prefer a SakuNaru/NaruSaku if only to prevent myself wanting to take a spade to the faces of a certain section of Naruto fandom.

A relationship does not work unless both parties have something in common (S***S*** didn't have anything, and look what happened). They must be able to get on. "Birds of a feather flock together" is a better way to put it. Someone also described love as "friendship on fire". That is a good way to put it for me. You can have lust, but real love doesn't really happen until you know the other person and like what you see.

No wonder I don't debate in threads when the fanboys/girls start coming in (thank god the good debaters start early). You just can't win against sheer ignorance, and you only end up wondering how humanity can still breed idiots after millions of years of evolution.

The most classic line for me was quoted by Aethos. I don't know who the original poster was, but perhaps it is better that way!

We'll just have to get on the forum with our beer/vine/other alcolic brevages OR Apple juice for the underage and have a toast over at the general topic. Then we flood every known forums with our powerful proofs and gloat over the fuming remnants of the other ships! Not such a bad way to celebrate I believe!

As for the previous argbument with the guy saying Sakura will have gigantic breasts in three years. While that may or may not be a good thing (I hope they get bigger than they are when she's 12) saying it will lure Sasuke back to the good side is completely crazy. The guy will be possessed by Orochimaru at that point (three years and he can take over his body) and his soul will be dead. So saying, he has a point afterwards about the feelings but the fact that Naruto and Sakura are friends plays in their favour.

Now I'm motivated to write about the three months gap . . . WHY DID I HAVE TO READ THIS THREAD! WHY ????????? I already have too many working fics which are NOT progressing at all! Bah, inspiration means I have to write it or lose it.
