Finally, we get to see Diane's past story! So far, it's my favorite side story. The giants are an incredibly interesting clan, boasting full of strength and pride. Their ideals surrounding the meaning of fighting makes sense (not that I agree, lol). So while fairies avoid humans, giants have been coexisting with humans- under certain conditions, of course.

Took me a while to find out around what time period this took place, lol. I like that relationship that Diane and Dolores have; both are the black sheep of the entire group and don't like fighting for the wrong reasons. Matrona is scary (don't like her, but I know she's doing this all for her clan).

Meliodas meeting Diane was cute, but Diane thinking that he said that he "maybe" said that he loves her... Ugh, you guys know my standpoint about the romance in the manga, so I'm just gonna leave it here.

I don't know, but I am not bothered by romance. It's human nature. I just like the fact that there's more to her and managed to incorporate with the past and that time. Plus, you made it sound like we about to see the new top ten with them in there.

Sorry if I sound annoyed. It's just human nature aspect more so than main or rather only element of a person. It make sense on how it plays in it. That said a two part side story? I'm game.

You know what top ten. Quite honestly, I reviewed it and it's not bad. I find it acceptable at the very least. Not sure what's troubling. I don't have lighting stab. I don't have one flick of a switch thanks to illusion. I don't have a horn dog going after another woman. I don't have one going to a boat. In fact, some of them are being treated as a problem or at least I'm hoping like if Meliodas sees Elizabeth as a replacement, but we'll see.

Anyway, I don't see any problem or actual problems. Or at least very troublesome one.

Oh, that top ten! You've got to be more precise sometimes I personally don't see a reason to put ElizabethxMeliodas up there. Why would I? Sure, I'm not a fan of them, but it's obvious they'll get together, and there's nothing that sets a major alarm off in my head of to see them break up (same goes for the other couples).

If anything bothers me, I'll mention it, and that includes romance, of course. But I don't treat romance as a huge priority in this manga b/c it's shounen.

Yeah, I know that about Meliodas and Elizabeth, but we both know that this will end in some kind of:" I love her not b/c she's a copy of Liz"- only of course after Elizabeth misunderstands something and confronts Meliodas about it.

Some of the other relationships lack development in my eyes. I know for instance that Ban and Elaine is super popular and that they look appealing combined with the tragedy they had- but it's just not working for me. I need something deeper, better and more realistic chemistry. And DianexKing is too cheesy for my taste.

Anyways, I don't care too much about any ships anymore. I used to be a DianexKing shipper, but that faded away after a while... I like MerlinxEscanor though, but that's just first impression.

That's all I'm gonna say to the topic romance in Nanatsu no Taizai.

I guess the idea is that most of them are done deal but so far away. Ban got romance but it was taken away so to speak. King got romance but circumstances prevent it. In short, their romance is more of close but no cigar rather than "Hi, I'm new. Let's develop and see where it takes us." Not only that but it was made to be part of their sin or rather revolve around it. So realistically, the only one that we are in journey is Meliodas, since everyone else is close but no cigar. It's like if Naruto already best friend with Sakura in chapter 1 and Naruto wants to confess, but Kyuubi comes out at whim and he is scared. Sakura don't understand why he splits but she realized she probably in love with him.

So basically, it lacks development because it's done. We're pretty much get a movie development as in length. No long journey, no journey even. Just happened already. So in a odd way he managed to put romance in focus yet at the same time not so much to make it Shounen which is why I am not bothered. But that's just me.

I know I didn't want to say anything anymore, but I'll add my two cents to this after coming of from Gintama:

The ships in Nanatsu no Taizai are simply not my taste. Too... superficial and sugarcoated. There are two ships in Gintama that were dedicated only one or two episodes, and I found these ships filled with chemisty far more believable than in Nanatsu no Taizai. You know the romance works well when the majority of the Gintama fandom supports/approves of ships that were barely shown. And Gintama seldomly focuses on romance. While in Nanatsu no Taizai: I've seen some fights here and there about the romance, and some scenes leaft a bad taste in the readers' mouths. You're right. It was done in an odd way, and I'm glad that Nakaba even dedicated time to romance b/c not many shounen mangakas do it. While I know that the romance is crucial to the characters' development (Ban and King, ugh), it feel like Nakaba incorporated romance just to make it feel like that "there, I put romance in it, set up the groundwork for the romantic relationships, and can now go back to my shounen material." Just b/c it's shounen, there's no need to rush it. It's not hard to make it feel natural w/out annoying the shounen reader.

Before I give my impression on these manga sales, I'd like to say that first of all, I'm not going to downplay on Nanatsu no Taizai with what I'm going to say- I'd like to make that clear. Got that? Ok:

I'm pretty sure we're all aware why Nanatsu no Taizai is on there, right? The answer is: The anime was a success. As I've said multiple times, the manga sales of the series boomed with the success of the anime. As a whole, Nanatsu no Taizai has 13 volumes. Multiply each volume by around roughly 600,000 to 800,000 and that teleports us that to that number Nanatsu no Taizai got. It's impressive indeed b/c a bunch of mangas that had average sales still had average sales after an anime adaptation was released. However, if one follows the sales of each manga volume of NnT, you'll see that they still are far behind One Piece or AoT. Whether it will become a contender for One Piece or even AoT remains to be seen in the future (or towards the end of this year). This is quite the similar effect the anime Tokyo Ghoul had last year.
