You guys need to stop making Sakura into something larger to Naruto's character, and stop making Naruto come first. The mangas protagonist was intertwined with Sasuke and his story, his goal, and his development what shared with Sasuke despite being the title character. Sakura the main female was developed at the beginning to be distinctive from the main character not his main love intrest, her goal was to save or be acknowledged by the other main character and be strong. Naruto's so called love story with her was pretty much a minor quirk at that and easily expendable compared to the much more dire connections to Sasuke, his parents, the villians and growth. Hinata main distinction from all the rest of the side characters is pure love for the hero, and nothing more. Sakura is more than Hinata but she was never a sole factor in sharing relevancy with the main protagonist on Sasuke's level nor a prime love intrest since she has her own love story and goals with another character.
Sasuke himself has said he wanted to sever the bonds he hides in his heart, the cruelty of his actions towards his friends and Sakura are meant to be a plot twist and symbolism, and it is the reason why someone like him would end up with her, by wanting to rid of her existence, discouraging her, and being a total cold jerk with no reguard to her feelings or life he shows his commitment on wanting to go through the conviction of losing himself to the chains of hatred and severing his bonds which indicates he did care and deep down loved her before he made his choice to walk a path where even he would kill his best friend and strongest bond of all. Now he sees the light, he shows his true colors and in the end showed his love for Sakura by making a gesture to the girl in memory of his most loved bond showing her he accepts her love for him. IN part one he was interested in her when she shows her skills with genjutsu door, saves her from danger through out part one, and was willing to sacrifice his life to save hers and Naruto. Databook confirms that Sakura brought him light and love in his dark heart, meaning her grew to vaguely love her but choose to follow the dark path since his plot was about revenge and pivitol for him to fight against Naruto as a parallel to the plot.
