Speaking of that goodbuy scene: Do you guys think that these words from Naruto were already an indicator for the scumbag he would become in the future? He already implied that he couldn't always fulfill all of his mom's wishes. A lot of shippers were interpretating this scene to their own convenience.

I still can't believe that after this they made him into a scumbag.

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

I honestly have no idea what was going through Kishi's head during the last months of the series. Like you said, this scene could be portrayed in a number of ways. NH/SS could interpret this as Naruto "giving up" on Sakura, while NS could interpret this as Naruto acknowledging that there are still things that he need to do, such as winning Sakura's affections.

Now I interpreted it as the latter, not only because I'm an NS shipper but also because anything else would just be kinda sad. Why should the romance aspect of the story end in tragedy for the main character when everything was leading up to a happy ending?

It seemed like the manga version of Naruto simply gave up on Sakura and then went with Hinata, but then we have The Last which states that he was never really in love with her and since The Last is stated to be canon then that pretty much makes Naruto a scumbag.

It could be interpreted as Naruto acknowledging his future scumbag personality, but that would mean that the reason he becomes an abusive, dead beat father is because he couldn't get with his first choice and had to settle.

Seriously. What kind of a hero is that?

Definitely. Just look: "Mom told me to find a woman just like her.... But er anyway! I haven't done all the things mom told me to do."
This is definitely a hint to the future scumbag he would become that he was already confused over Sakura and Hinata. Even though he just told his dad that Sakura was his girlfriend a short while ago. Why didn't he immediately answer that he did find a girl like his mom? What's with the sudden back up? Kikitten is a very bad writer having Sakura confused over Sasuke and Naruto and now we have Naruto confused over Sakura and Hinata. Ugh. >.>

Wait, don't put that kitten up, Naruto NEVER considered Hinata anything more then friend, it was clearly stated in every scen of their interaction. Just retcon of Kishimoto turned thing around.

It's pretty annoying on tumblr when someone complains about Naruto neglecting his son and suddenly a sasusaku turd goes off on a rant defending naruhina and saying how much narusaku sucks. Like wow we weren't even talking about SS only NH and yet the SS fangirls goes off like a nuclear bomb. Are Sasusaku and Naruhina fans kittening eachother? They seem really connected at the hip.

One thing i don't like about them is that most of them don't seem to mind there own business i mean the post is tagged right? Why do they have to shut us up like that? We have every right to critic it if they cannot stand it then get OUT OF THE TAG.  -_-

It just gets me mad how I always supported and defended Naruto's dream of being with Sakura and it turns out he wanted Hinata all along. What a waste of my kittening time.

It's one time to leave it as a mystery. Now that we know, we lost all respect for Naruto.

I don't understand why they turned him in a scumbag honestly. There is seriously no benefit whatsoever to turning Naruto into that kind of guy. I figured even if NH did happen that he would still be happy with his decisions and be loving and caring father and husband, but I don't know what made Kishi decide to go in this direction with Naruto's character. It's something I've been trying to figure out since the release of chapter 700 and I still haven't come to any definite conclusion as to why they did this to him.

I'm happy with that, bittersweet victory for a**holes. At least Naruto that was in love with Sakura, was good guy.

I'm still trying to figure out how Naruto could do shadow clones at age 5 or 8.

I also think he was thinking about Sakura while saying this ! (plus, didn't he fell in love with Hinata in the movie, then we can say that he never considered her as more than a friend before that !

Yeah I mean all I can do is speculate but the two most likely reasons are either Kishi is trying to sabotage his work or he really is a dumbass. I think you'd have to be really stupid to come up with this kind of an ending and think it's a satisfying conclusion to your 15 year long series. So I'd like to think it's the former, him sabotaging his work, but I really can't be sure.

What grinds my gears about the ending is that is renders heartfelt scenes with Naruto's parents so meaningless. The scenes with Kushina and Minato are some of the most powerful in the entire manga. To chalk those up as misleads is really frustrating.
