I would be reevaluating the integrity of our own convictions in not allowing influence from external prejudiced sources like the fans to steer the direction of Kishi's pen. If it's of their own design that they chose to animate such a scene (no matter how unlikely or inconsistent with the ending that it is), then that's acceptable. But I wouldn't want them to be coerced into drawing it based on the prettiness of a fan's self-made picture.

There's no saving the Naruto series now. Even something as radical as changing the ending in favor of NS wouldn't do anything for it, since it's not going to win back many fans, if any. All it would do is piss off the NH/SS fans, which I wouldn't mind seeing but my opinion of Naruto would still be as low as it can possibly be. Kishi shouldn't have messed his story up in the first place.

Agree, the story is what matters and that should not be a problem with NS fan work because the best thing about us NSers is that we are "Naruto fans" first and want what's best for the manga.

His old fans won't be coming back that's for sure. The series can only be saved for the new future readers of Naruto. Beside NH and SS fans, the new fans and readers are Kishi's only hope for his newer manga projects to come. After the Botl movie and the mini manga series has concluded, Kishi has a decision to make to go back and un-retcon the last two chapters or just leave it as it is.
