Well that was in due part on the animation staff, so you can *thank* them. I assure you though it isn't that bad in the manga. But do you enjoy the story?

I do. I'm actually planning to read the manga. Already read the first chapter, and am planning to read it little by little. Should be caught up before the anime concludes. The only cooking manga I've read so far was Kitchen Princess which was years ago, so I though it's time to start a new cooking series

I'm fine with the fanservice in the manga- it's worse in the anime.

I'm curious: So some of you ship SomaxErina. Why's that? I'm currently disliking her a lot, but for some reason I ship SomaxErina, too... Prob b/c it was already heavily foreshadowed already in chapter 1 with Soma's father saying that his secret to good cooking is finding a woman you want to cook for- and then we switch to Erina

Oh I do, cause of reasons similar to yours. It was hinted at by Jouichirou and the fact is that I think that Soma can eventually break Erina from her pride and elitist  attitude towards food and make her a better person. Kind of like what Naruto did for Sakura (the part about making her a better,stronger person that is), don't you think?  And there are others here that do as well

That's it: I'm officially sold on the SomaxErina ship. Made myself clear in the OTP thread. Remember, I only watch the anime, and a read few chapters of the manga with a few spoilers here and there, so I apologize if I offended anyone with my explanation due to my lack of knowledge: http://www.narusaku....=14917&p=835788

I'm really looking forward to catching up on this manga. But the fanservice in episode 1 almost made me drop it I've missed the kind of manga that is nothing supernatural or actionorientated but simply meant for entertainment and character development. I love the food challenges, and especially love it when my characters I cheer on show their opponents how it's done . Very intense sometimes (and by now, I'm just laughing my ass of at the foodgasms; I can't take them seriously anymore).

And btw... seeing the dishes in real is pure eyegasm for me:
