Gai was amazing, and what a tribute to hard workers who have nothing "special" to offer.

I wanted him to kill Madara, but at the same time knew he wouldn't.  He got very close, though, and that's very, very good.  I'm also pleased to see him eclipse Kakashi -- the former snob -- and it will be interesting to know how this changes Gai's constant nagging of Kakashi to test their skills.

I also really wanted it to be Tenten who arrived before Gai had expired, not Naruto.  I mean, it was great to see Naruto in action again, and great to see him burst onto the scene with a Part I-style kick, but... yeah, Tenten.

So the tapestry symbols that I mentioned last chapter thread!!!  The sun and moon that were hanging over Ashura and Indra's heads last chapter, and are now tatoo-like seals on Naruto and Sasuke's palms.  I wonder if they must be combined to form some kind of special seal...?   :ermm:

I know a lot of people are going to moan and groan and whine and wail about Kishimoto choosing to avoid any shippy NS stuff, but I'm not surprised or disappointed.  He always seems to render NS moments when we don't expect them, and the focus is on the fighting.  It wouldn't be much Naruto's style to know there was life and death fighting going on, but he stopped to have a schmoopy moment with Sakura.   :twitch:

Besides, thanks to the panel of Sakura on her knees beside a restored Naruto with Obito looking on side-by-side with a panel of Karin on her knees beside a restored Sasuke with Kabuto looking on -- all the characters in the same positions, saying the exact same words... ???   It's so FREAKING obvious anyway.

Patience, people.  Patience.  As has been said by many posters many times, it is HIGHLY unlikely that Kishimoto will resolve NS until the end and I'm personally very glad.  Wondering how it will happen, exactly, keeps things interesting.

Here's hoping this new strained alliance between the boys will be half as interesting.

yeah yeah and i wanna see sakura and obito join the fight to the ns can wait i want those two joining the fun

First because of obirin parallel.

Second, I believe kishi will recycle the naruto vs garra fight in part one. Because I believe the one who will beat madara is naruto with the help of sasuke(while the one who finish it either obito or the pot). And make sasuke jealous thus lead to the last battle of narusasu.

Third, kishi will address or even one of sakura conflict(the "I cann't do much for naruto" feel). Remember in this manga have one/two conflict mean "screen time".

Of course this's just a theory since kishi can make the one who beat madara is naruto & sasukeh, and then address sakura feel after this arc.

Because naruto is the spiritual successor of dragon ball?

ok...

This chapter was actually fairly good. I liked the Guy flashbacks and how much Guy practically demolished Madara even though he's not dead yet. And Guy's condition when he was on the battlefield dying was pretty crazy to look out. He looked really messed up and Kishi drew that well. His attack on Madara was cool too.

I'm disappointed Kishi skipped the NS recovery scene. Of course it makes sense now that I think about it since they're in a life-or-death situation, but I spent a lot of time just staring at the page and trying to figure out whether something happened in-between or that was really it. I'm personally betting something did happen off-panel and Kishi wouldn't show it until later, but it's still Kishi so who knows.

Either way, I'm still predicting a NS hug scene soon. Whether Sakura kept her emotions in check then doesn't matter because she'll definitely let it all loose at some point even if it's after Madara's destroyed. Kinda like the Pain arc, except maybe more emotional considering she actually saw Naruto almost die.

And yay, Naruto has a new power-up and an awesome entrance. Too bad I don't want him to have the ability to revive people.

Again! Here I go with another of my predictions! We saw Naruto's '+' eyes, didn't we? Sasuke's eyes are still kept under wraps! I think Sasuke has already awakened the Rinnegan. And probably the focus has now shifted to Naruto AND Sasuke vs Madara. And probably, if this is true we're gonna see a shocked Team Taka and more of all, a shocked Orochimaru!! Next chapter's gonna be full of surprises. Presumably with Naruto's current ability, he's gonna revive everyone on the battlefield who have died. Much like the ending of DBGT saying that this was my war and others were dragged into this. I just hope Naruto dosen't meet the same end as Goku did at the end of DBGT

Sasuke can't gain Rinnegan, while Indra's chakra is with him.  Madara had to wait until Indra migrated from him to gain the Rinnegan, that's why it took until old age awaken it.

Naruto could save Gai because Gai was on the verge of dying.  He wasn't completely dead yet.  Neji and other casualties are.

I believe madara will get his left eye back from obito.

@dattebayo
I believe sasuke will gain rinnegan. The only question for me, can sasuke perform rinnegan jutsu right away or he will time to figuring how to use it.

Wow...

That final attack is too sick. It's a auto-kill to any man. Note: man, not god. That said damn, Gai sure came close to it. Now, Naruto is back and soon, Sasuke will come in. Hm, I do wonder if this is it for Madara in this volume. We're in chapter 5 of the volume, heading to chapter 6 with the return of Naruto and soon Sasuke coming into the field, so I do wonder. Will something happen in the future event or this is truly the coming end of Madara? I guess we just have to wait and see how this all plays out. I mean he is missing the other eye, so who knows. I feel like something is coming.

You know, a good point made in the other forums. If Naruto is about life, then what about Sasuke? Is it death? Like I don't know what really happened at the last page but my guess is that Gai almost died but Naruto stopped it and gave a small life left to live. Kind of like give an item that no matter what happens, your HP will hit 1. Basically, saved him but not sure about healing him. That said what is the full extent of Naruto's power. If true about life, then Sasuke must be death. Hm. Well, we are jumping ahead I guess.

Lastly, I must admit, I do believe our ego was running high. Lol. I am referring to the wake up scene and I am glad they did, but I guess we want the full extent detail. But you know what, it's true that time is running short and the war is going on, so we got to get to it. I mean if doing all that, Gai would be dead. Lol. But seriously, what we got is good enough for this time of need, so it was nice. Now, I'm curious on how all of this will play out. Again, will it be it for Madara in this volume or will this last long over to the next volume?

This was really good but feels rushed.

How the hell did Naruto pop out of the Kamui dimension and poof at Gai's side quicker than Sauce did? Sauce was across the field.

It seems like they remain in the same general area where they disappeared and reappeared relative to the world around them. They just happen to be in a different realm.

It would probably take longer for Sasuke to arrive since he's at another far end of the battlefield across the towering tree roots. As Gaara's three-man group was on the move, he explained that they were still a few kilometres away from where everything is taking place at the moment. They had started moving towards Kakashi and Minato at the end of #662 and they didn't arrive until the middle of #664.

Sasuke and his friends may not arrive until two chapters from now (assuming the distance is roughly the same and they're moving at the same pace as Gaara's sand).

Did Obito and Sakura poof with him too?

This may be their last opportunity to escape before Obito keels over from exhaustion. They could have appeared at another part of the battlefield or Naruto instantaneously moved to the front of Guy the moment he appeared. The fight has shifted from where Naruto would be situated in both worlds

When did Sakura take her hand out of his chest?

Is he walking around with a broken rib and an open chest cavity or did the Sage heal him?

Some of the revival may have taken place off-screen. A squinting of the eyes, his fingers twitching slightly to indicate that life's returning, or maybe his heartbeat began to beat on its own and Sakura removed her hand before the panel we saw of Naruto pulling himself up during the last chapter.

Either Sakura performed medical ninjutsu to close the incision or Naruto healed on his own via bijuu restoration or whatever powers he may have now.

These are far-fetched explanations, but I think they could be placed to fill in the gaps.

Yeah, you may be right. Though where is Obito/Sakura? I wonder if they are going there now or are they in a different place? Anyway, going to chapter 6, you may be right that this is the time to showcase the new power. It can actually fit in the next 3 chapters of the theme. So I guess we should expect this way.

Okay so guess I'll say this:

I loved what they with guy this chapter, the sheer force he used on Madara was excellent. No problems there.

As for no ns moment, I'm not to thrilled about that but we have a few things to say about this.

1. Yes I am suprised Kishi skipped it, given the potential he could have done with it especially given how obito was present and that I thought mainly it could have occurred with some type of, well interaction with obito over it. He had not focused on Sasuke as much recently.

2. This doesn't necessarily hinder ns, I mean the development got is still there by all means, I mean the from from 663 should still lead somewhere. It's just a matter of what happens in the future where this goes.

3. It's understandable that kishi would otherwise want to get a move on with the battle, I mean it has been a long fight. Now Madara is finally going to be taken down.

4. Despite naruto and Sasuke saying lets go, it does though manage to make one say well how did Sasuke react towards kabuto? I meanwhile we could understand the stuff from naruto, it's funny how Sasuke didn't give a second thought as far as we know to kabutos presence.

5. It's still nothing given to nh or SS, that's for sure, as said in reason 2, the stuff from sakura concerning his dream is something that has to be lead somewhere, I mean despite no moment and how they just moved, it's still a big difference in that ns actually got development in this oredeal, not the others by any means.

6. The flashback factor: many would say this is wishful thinking but given the circumstances and otherwise just general graduality, Kishi may just load the stuff in this instead at some point close by. I mean this is how we will see what both guys exactly said to the sage before they got their powers. Maybe it seems too convienent and it does sound that way, but if there really is an explanation from one thing to another, this is what happens sometimes. Maybe we will get one maybe we wont. So it's not outright dead. There maybe something with naruto and Sasuke for their recovery still in the works.

While we also have naruto and Sasuke with their new powers, narutos being a well, supposed revival tool, well he has his sage tailed beast mode back. Then doesn't this just make an undervalued response to 615 then? If naruto just revives neji doesn't this negate the stuff of 615? Otherwise, yes sakura is still back as well, her direct part is over, but there's still the mental aspect of her character which just for being around gets development, here or there. I know this sounds dumb but I mean in situations like the land of iron or well just recently, there was still development thrown to her, so even when she is on the side, she still gets development thrown one way or another.

It's as I said, in case we didn't get a direct moment, there's still the result of Sakura's other stuff going forward like 663 as of most recently. While some flashback could also occur as unlikely as it seems, there's always the future, I mean one thing we can say with absolute clarity is, this doesn't change the fact that both nh and SS were left unaddressed in this situation when both naruto and Sasuke were down. He gave ns some time, so the better question now to ask is, what does he plan to do with ns given stuff like 663? There's always Sakura's reaction to his abilities otherwise as well. Not hard to imagine naruto reviving and then having sakura heal guy. Besides, I guess you can say we did still get what we wanted a few chapters back, sakura wanting naruto to live and supporting his dream is otherwise the basis if our pairing and what we mainly follow so it's still basically what happened in 663 will go inline with the other past development and just come around in the future, just not right now. I mean remember, the bigger stuff still lies ahead like aftermath of the war and the naruto vs Sasuke stuff. So sakura still may have some screentime even on the side or just healing guy if it comes to it. There's still a lot of ways the next chapter can go, but ns still has a positive future because unlike the others, it gets development and it's been getting progress and hints within the last year so things are still good otherwise.

This is a disappointment.

To the people saying there was a parallel between NaruSaku and SasuKarin. Really? Is this really what you're settling for? Some images that vaguely look alike without any kind of meaningful substance?

To the people saying this was natural. Really? That was not what the majority predicted as natural for the last few weeks. The missing scenes are not going to come back, that's not Kishi's style, and hoping otherwise is wishful thinking.

This is damage control.

Wow I actually managed to remember tonight is the night of the release, anyway I LOVED this chapter, Guy's kick to Madara was so epically awesome I was totally surprised at how much damage it did, I mean Guy almost turned all the bones in Madara's leg to dust, not to mention taking half of his gut and face.

I wasn't disappointed that there was no NS scene, I wasn't expecting one myself honestly, but what we did see with the NS SK parallels was nice.

And as for Naruto, I wonder if the fact that he was able to kick one of Madara's balls (that sounded wrong, funny, but wrong) and not lose his foot was because of his Senjutsu or from the power Hagoromo gave him, obviously the ability to save Guy was (I wonder if B will/can be saved like that).

Anyway I loved this chapter and can't wait until next week.

So this chapter took me for an emotional rollercoaster ride.

Gia's sacrifice was beautiful. Even the way he was going out was well drawn and an amazing ending, maybe even the best ending, for a shinobi in this series. Seeing take up his father's mantra in the flashback was very touching. And having him finally be recognized, not only by the man he was fighting, but by his life long rival was also a nice final gesture. Not to mention his awesome final move. It was his perfect ending... And then Naruto shows up and it's all going to be hunky-dory from here on out.

I mean... We've seen this death coming. This was going to be a great sacrifice. But no, no one dies, except Neji...

I don't want to sound like a b**** but come on! I was seriously welling up with tears. And the entire build up was like... for nothing. Sigh.

That being said, it still makes sense for Naruto to save Gai's life. I mean Naruto's conversation with Hagoromo was basically him saying he wants to save his friends. And of course I'm glad that Gai isn't dead...

I don't know. For me it cheapened Gai's efforts. But moving on...

So I have to say in regards to NS that I got more than I expected but less than I hoped for. Of course it is great that we got to see a parallel with SK and NS. And there is a war going on, so you know, first things first. The waiting game continues.

I think that Sakura and Obito are with Naruto already. I say this because Naruto and Sasuke both say "Let's go!" And I really don't think they are talking to each other. But who knows...

Mixed feelings on the power ups too, at least regarding Sakura. I mean her joining Team 7 in the fight was about how she had finally caught up to them and how Team 7 was going to work together again. JK, Sakura, you're behind again. But I mean I just feel this way because Sakura is my favorite.

I am use to the parallels between Naruto and Sasuke now, so that part doesn't bother me anymore. I'm looking forward to see how they work together and how their rivalry will work out. Also, we still don't know what Sasuke wants from all of this. We aren't clear on what Sasuke told Hagoromo his goals were.

Anyways, in all, I liked the chapter and didn't like it. But once again I can't wait until next weeks chapter. Should be very exciting!!!

Mixed feeling

Action in the chapter is 100% satisfying and Gai is a total badass in my book

Development however is where I felt meh in this chapter.

Naruto and Sasuke both wake up (in circumstance that should lead them to ask themselves question) Waking up by didn't give a crap about people surrounding them and just say let's go, it accurate for a Sasuke action but not so much for Naruto.

Well at least Sasuke got place for an interaction but not Narut which is kind of sad. I mean logically, he woke up in Obito dimension, with Obito who in Naruto POV might not be a total good guy ( he didn't know that he regret and had his change of heart). Then, Obito alone with Sakura in his dimension. Sakura just maintain Naruto alive for that transfer for I don't know how much time and the guy wake up let's go, I go back to fight OP Madara.

Should have been at least an Obito/Naruto interaction especially since Naruto appear on the field, it mean Obito open the portal for him to go through. NS moment we were hoping didn't happen either but I feel like this fast forward was too fast.

Hope Sasuke didn't appear in the field like Naruto did ( I mean you wake up and see Kabuto, he sure know if his here what it meant, but it doesn't mean he is trustworthy or something )

Well that chapter live up in the action though, love that last attack. But these interaction should have been there.
