Sasuke... heh. I'd tell him that people aren't born useful or useless, they are born to find and bring their own special happiness and meaning. Power blinds, sharingan blinds, powerful eyes are meaningless in the darkness and can't make anyone see the essence of the world when one's heart is closed. No matter the pain and troubles, there is always a choice to open up or shut one's mind and heart. And the only person who can truly take away your happiness is yourself.

Why do people NOT ship these two? I just don't get it.

Probably cause they hate Sakura. When she's probably the most developed female character in the whole show.

I respect Hinata, but Sakura deserves some too.

Kakashi tried to deliver pretty much the same message twice. But it failed. Sasuke always thought that he had suffered the hardest and no one could understand his lot. Yet pain is pain, no matter the reason behind it. The important thing is to find strength to face pain and consequent blame, resolve them in a constructive manner and not to be afraid of potential pain in the future. 

 

I could ask Sasuke to close his eyes and compare it to the situation when his eyes are opened in a completely dark space. But he has to find his own answer if there is difference or not. There is, by the way.

 

Self-destruction is the easiest path one can take if a person is tired of wandering around and wants a shortcut. Sasuke needs time and experience to come to a more profound definition of being strong. Mere words won't do.
