That was probably the best argument/post you've replied to me with yet. Well done explaining that one, Phantom. I guess I just won't really enjoy a lot of shounens then, if they all are cheesey, predictable, and unrealistic like you said. I can see how they inspire and whatever, but I believe that a story can be inspirational without being all of the above. That's me, anyways.
Regardless, thank you for this post. It was well done, unlike some others, and I can fairly say that you've "won" this little discussion.

P.S. Maybe this also explains why Code Geass is my favorite anime/series so far... Because the other series I watch/read aren't meant to be necesarilly realistic.

Thanks I actually thought that one out. Yeah it's true stories can be inspirational AND realistic. I agree and would like to see those sometimes too, it's just that those are usually more of a "slap in the face" cause you're inspired by it but at the same time you just realize how messed up everything and when you solve things more problems arise; and happiness or accomplishment for you is misery/ failiure to others . It's disturbing, reality. Inspirational but disturbing too. Not arguing here just pointing that out. We all need a sense of reality sometimes. smile.gif Although there are some shonen manga that show realism like Death Note or Mirai Nikki. You could give those a shot. Oh and Berserk too.

At some point, I might have cared if it ended no pairings, but if I did that has long since passed. I wouldn't care in the slightest. Most of it, is plain old apathy. I just don't care, so long as the ending is coherent. The rest is that I've come across more than a hand of die hard shippers that I hold in significant enough contempt that I'd smile a bit at watching the author giving a giant F-you to them all. So yeah, plain old spite.

If Naruto died, it would depend on the circumstances and what themes are conveyed in his death.

That said, I don't expect either.

Me too Kage Nate, Me too fu.png I rather see NS happen but at least with no pairing those rabid NH and SS fans go down with us and have to eat the humble pie too mwahaha.gif

As long as NS happens, and Naruto lives, (Which I can see Kishi doing) I really don't care what happens...
I'm only saying that cause I'm kinda lost in these posts o.o

I wouldn't mind no pairings. It will then be on all parties to imagine their own pairings, and at least it will keep the creative juices of fanfics still going - in all pairings.

As for Naruto dying - I would really, really hate that. I really dislike sad ending stories - specially where such a likeable, happy guy like Naruto has to die...whatever the circumstances. Already there are so many awesome characters who have died/been sacrificed in the story - Minato, Kushina, Itachi....Hopefully it will not be Naruto too. And in this case, the blow will be so much harder as Naruto has formed part of my life since 6 years now.

that would be totally sucks argh1.png rawr.gif and i have this in my mind too if kishi left us with a cliffhanger for the pairings (but i don't think naruto will die) but there has been so mush increase for the pairing thing especially naruto and sakura so i don't think it's logical if he did this

I'm not excluding NS from that list. While I won't specify who or even where I met them (at one time or another I've been a member of at least three forums), I've met NS fans just a rabid and obnoxious as diehard NH and SS fans.

This isn't the primary reason I'm so apathetic about pairings, but I won't lie and say I don't feel that way. It's more about those who are so obnoxious about it, that they make the fandom experience less enjoyable for everyone around them, even for those on their own side.

I expect the ending to be coherent, but also tie up any loosed ends and not leave us guessing on what may happen. That's how I feel about the pairing, too.

To me, the tying up of loose ends (at least major ones) would be necesssary for a coherent ending.
