Firstly... I do not believe this until I see proof of this interview came directly from Kishimoto. It sounds too stupid to be real. And if it is real... honestly I wonder why I wasted my time with his manga. I will not make that mistake again henceforth.
Secondly...
Kishimoto admitted before that he wanted to make Team Seven into a Nerima Daikon Brothers copy,
What? It is the first time that I have heard such thing. It is also the first time that I have heard the name of that anime, by the way. I looked it up and it was made in 2004.
So are you claiming that back in 1999 Kishimoto wanted to make the three main characters of his manga into a copy of a manga that got published in 2004?
Proof, please.
Do you want to take over the world, huh? Well, you'll have to go through us first!

That is waht I have always heard. It came from Slam Dunk. What is this Daikon Brothers stuff?
It is like if you claim that Tolkien ripped Song of Ice and Fire off instead of use stuff of Kalevala, Homer and Old Edda.

Slam dunk spoilers. Read it if you have not done that already. Its infinitely better than Naruto and its short enough.
I love how at the end sakuragi declared to Haruko that he truly loves Basketball and this time he is not lying. The manga does not resolve the pairings issues but it is heavily implied that she is starting to fall for him.

I do read it.
it's open ending, because we will not see sakuragi junior. and the fact that is a school life sport manga really help for the open ending.

-pinches the bridge of my nose-
You do realize that Kishimoto contradicted himself on what he said last week. I know you like to believe this stuff, but I don't. Sorry. This is Kishimoto playing damage control and nothing more. This whole "NaruSaku blinded you" thing is insulting to us and please stop saying that. I am getting tired of people saying that. I have read MANY manga and watched tons of anime with OTPs in mind and not once did I read anything wrong in the series. This have been the ONLY series where apparently people keep telling me I "read it wrong."
You can't tell me I read stuff wrong when apparently this is the only series this has happened in. Maybe it is not the fans are the wrong one's here, huh? Kind of funny how other fans, and even the creators, wants to blame the fans for not "reading it right" when apparently 99% of the stuff they are writing now just go against everything he have set up before.
Do you really believe everything they said is all truth? Not just now, but everything they have ever said? All of a sudden NH was always the plan? Bull. If that really is true, then Kishimoto shouldn't write anymore because he is the worst writer ever and I mean, THE WORST WRITER EVER. Even Stephanie Meyer writes better.
No...this is Kishimoto shooting himself in the foot. If you have to insult your fanbase to try and save face, then you know something is wrong. They refuse to admit they f**cked up so instead they blame us the readers. Not just the NS fans, but every fan who followed. The difference now is not pairings choice, but rather who actually blindly follows everything they say....or calls them out on their bullsh**...and judging from how many people have returned their tickets and the theaters are becoming more and more empty....it is clear that readers are not too happy being insulted.
Oh I believe he's playing damage control alright. There's no doubt about that. That's what weasles do best. And I get where you're coming from on this issue. Believe me I do. That said, I also believe Kishi here. Think about it. The other interviews are one thing, but what does he really gain by claiming that he's been deceiving his readers? He could've stuck to the "I was on the fence" story and that would've sufficed. Authors change their minds all the time. He could've also issued an apology for letting some of his fans down. Authors also do this all the time. Instead, he told us something he has NOTHING to gain by claiming and PLENTY to lose. You tell lies and make sh-t when you want to get something. He picked the worst possible thing to say from the standpoint of PR. The only time people tell stories like that is when they're speaking from the heart. He knows full well that his comment WILL alienate people. Thing is, he doesn't give a sh-t.
And when you look back at the entirety of this manga, not just the NaruSaku stuff, but the LEGIONS of unresolved subplots and retcons, you get a pretty consistent picture: This guy CONSTANTLY throw things into the mix without any intention of ever addressing it again. He's like Kubo; he eternally lives in the moment. This goes well beyond the pairings and I believe we covered a lot of this in the retcons and abandoned subplots thread. This manga has been festering into a sh-t storm for quite some time. Of course he's a bad writer (maybe not the worst ever, but he's up there). The writing has been on the wall since the timeskip. At this point, I'm inclined to believe that were NaruSaku his long term goal, he would've messed it up eventually like he has most of this manga; in hindsight, the NaruSaku developments were gracious serendipity that Kishi couldn't have intentionally pulled off if his life depended on it..
I don't think what we read was wrong. This interview appears to confirm that it wasn't. To put it simply, if you decide to pull over because you see a police car flashing its lights behind you, no reasonable person is going to blame you for pulling over even if it turns out that the officer is not really an officer, but a prankster from a reality tv show working with the local police. The logic was all there, but all we had was the source material to go by. We didn't know what got discussed behind closed doors in Kishi's editing room, much less backroom meetings with SP. We didnt have sufficient information to get the right conclusion. Same reason L lost to Light.

So, regardless of the multiple 'verified' translations, it looks like this interview was still incorrect. Kishimoto came out and said on his promotional materials for the movie that he came up with Hinata as the end pairing half way through the series. Which still makes no sense.
This is now one of many contradictory interviews. I really think he's just making it up so he doesn't have to admit that he decided on Hinata at the end of the series. If it was Hinata all along, then why even do RtN? Makes no sense. Honestly, I think he's being so misleading in his interview questions to give validity to this massive retcon. Nothing more.

Yes, but when you have a main character (hero) like naruto love the heroine from the first book and then it doesn't happen because the author pity the side character. Do you think it's a good story? It was very obvious Hermione and Ron were going to end up together. I only watched the movies so I don't know if the books do the same. Ginny and Harry were also very obvious later on.
The main character does not have to end up with the heroine.

And when did I say harry love hermione?Since when did Harry ever love Hermione?

Fun fact: In Charles kittenen's Great Expectations, originally, the main character (Pip) and the leading female character (Estell) don't end up together. Instead, Estelle marries someone who beats her and treats her miserably (not that she didn't deserve this given how she acted throughout most of the book). Nobody liked the ending, so kittenens changed it to where it's implied that Pip and Estelle get together.
Granted, kittenens writing talent is leagues beyond Kishimoto's. Even so, an author providing a different ending to a fictional work, even to address something like the choice of pairings, is not without precedent!

Yup he's admitting the ending came outta his A**. better to lie than admit that, cause bluntly he HAS no excuse.
