Yes, that is the question,why would they mess up Naruto's ankle? It must be some kind of plot device ,either to have a reason to call for Sakura or so that Gai can have his "moment" without interferene from the main character.

Kishimoto's using what's called the Deus Exit Machina trope (note, I said EXIT, not EX). Putting game-breaker status characters temporarily out of commission to make the story interesting or to give other characters a chance to shine....

So it's the first choice then. Kishi is obviously doing this to give Gai his moment to shine against Kisame which it could mean that he probably won't die, the possibilites are low. If he wants to create another plotwist he could kill Gai but I think he has created enough plotwists in his manga, but that's just my opinion. Kishi probably won't be staisfy if he doesn't make a lot of plotwists.

(When referencing Asuma and Jiraiya's deaths and Tsunade's coma and hinting at Sakura's eventual choices in 2009-10) So I think that's a pretty good clue as well that Gai won't die.

I do think Gai will come out of this injured, perhaps to the point that he tells Lee that it's now time for Gai to pass down the mantle of "youthfulness"

Yeah I remembered that interview and Kishi saying that I hope he was telling the truth because he can say one thing in a interview and he can say another when he's making his manga. Let's all hope that Gai doesn't die.

I really liked this statement better, It feels more fitting to me. Maybe Naruto needs to combine Sage mode (fast healing abilities) with RM to heal fast and be a bigger vamp "RSM" Naruto than EMS Sasuke.

Nah, with Sage Mode on, it seems he's pretty much impervious to anything less than Tsunade's strength...and even that he could probably still shrug off. Who knows. If he combines that with this new form, he'd be going past Game-Breaker/Godmode status.

If that will happen how big of a power up must EMS for Sasuke be since Kishi wants to make him equal to Naruto and vice versa. I think its gonna be rediculous =_=

Usually when they say the conclusion next chapter it means that it will end in the chapter after the next one, so I'm pretty sure it will end on 508.

Hahahahhaha, I think Naruto's far surpassed Sasuke since he learned his Wind Affinity, definitely when he learned Sage Mode. I think Sasuke's the underdog this time around.
