No..
kishi does not name his characters after food items. Creator of DB did.

Kishi gravitates towards mythological names (like kushins was named after susanoo's wife.)

I already explained you how naruto cant be seen as the name of a food..

his parents named him after a character in the book, because they wanted their son to be just as heroic as that guy.
They did not even think of fishcake.

All naruto characters have VERY well thought out names.

Why would he make her the exception?

Kishi himself name naruto after side dish of ramen, complete with the spiral pattern.
And the novel character name is inspire when jiraiya eat ramen.
So that mean the character name in that novel based on food.

So there you go.

Ok so apparently tvtropes and Naruto wikia also take Sarada as a reference to Saraswati.

Biased kittens

I bet Kikitten was thinking of salads, and boom the name of the spawn came to his mind!
Sarada is literally Salad in japanese there's nothing more to it.

Jiraiya can have his inspiration from anywhere he likes, but naruto's parents named him after the character.

Naruto's other meaning "maelstorm" may also be a ref to his unpredictable personality.

And if you reeaally insist, this is only one example out of so many others.

No it's important because the name inspiration come from ramen.
Kishi and therefor jiraiya associate naruto with ramen.
Both in and out of story. That's why naruto is associate with ramen.

What is the other example.

Naruto's name comes from a Ramen dish. That's a confirmed and accepted fact throught the Naruto fandom and it was told by Kishimoto himself.

not saying he didn't... but his parents named him after the character in the book, not knowing where jiraiya got the inspiration for his name from..

And kishimoto had to start the naming somewhere...

take the example of itachi. Itachi means weasel. Many specific characteristics accompany the word weasel. For example, traits like ambiguity, cunningness, and deceitfulness come to mind. When a person evades an obligation, they will also be called a "weasel." Not only that, on Wikipedia it states that "weasels are considered bad luck in Japan. Staying true to his name, itachi's persona is mysterious and his true intentions were very different than what was assumed earlier.

You could've predicted (to some extent), itachi's true personality from just his name.

That's what I mean by Kishi being very good at Naming.

He also does not follow the food naming system, as he has only one character (two if you count menma, which is the parallel of naruto, to symbolise the fact that they are from parallel universes) nzmed after a dish. Even then, the names of the characters reflect their persona or appearance.

Sarada as salad doesn't make any sense... but if consider herperrsonality (studious, nerdy), her name being derived from sharada, hindu goddess of knowledge and learning keeps up with kishi's naming tradition. :)
