but naruto is the guy who specializes in people's feelings, so why didn't he address the glaring problem for sakura's character? for example, if my mom starts dating some douchebag i'll tell her to do better. but if my mom starts dating a guy that attempts to put his hands on her, i'll be sending that guy to the emergency room. no way in hell i'm gonna stand by and watch the person i love get treated like kitten. if she's not smart enough to make the decisions on her own, then you do it for her. it shows how much you love the person.

Absolutely. And that's part of the problem Kishi created by making Sasuke virtually the entire focus of Part II. It stops being about Naruto's growth and it becomes about Sasuke. Both Naruto and Sakura are so wrapped up in Sasuke that it halts their character development.

It was just a lame ass excuse to make it seem like Naruto didn't give up on his first love, because he never really loved her, and thus Hinata wasn't his second choice.

But it killed his character. Ask the fans at Japan. That was so unnecessary. This what happens when you give SP to do the story. Imagine S2 of TG was made by SP. They will kill rep of TG way worse than 4Kids for One Piece (despite their recovery...which took a while).

 

also, naruto gets praised for putting sakura's feelings above his own, but i think i'm gonna have to call bullsh** on that. that selfless act isn't winning him any brownie points. naruto should have smacked some sense into sakura by telling her that sasuke is no good for her at all. forget playing the nice guy act, lives are at stake here. he doesn't have to necessarily tell her to be with him because he treats her like a human being. he should just say that there are so much better guys out there for her and leave it at that.

 

ns wasn't as realistic as i hoped it would be, so the chances of the two sitting down and having a conversation about their feelings were slim to none.

I included that in my LAP, which will be out TOMORROW. I'll say this: at least it happened in Kage Summit Arc. More fuel for me to undermine that arc and up are the destruction of Naruto (series).

Yeah, when I say "nice guy," I'm talking about guys who are emotionally manipulative and believe that being "nice" to a girl entitles them to sex. It's pretty gross. And while I'm not accusing Naruto of being portrayed this way, I do think that some readers could see him that way. I think that's some of what generates the anti-Sakura sentiment that pushes people to support NH.

The biggest problem with NS is that Naruto and Sakura were never allowed to get together and talk things through. That was supposed to happen after Sasuke was brought back, but it didn't because of NH and SS.

Naruto is the main character, so it would be reasonable to believe that he would achieve his goals in a way that makes sense within the story itself.

Can you clarify what you mean? Are you talking about Hinata's actions? I'm saying that it wouldn't shock me if people read Naruto and think "Gee, Naruto is such a nice guy and Sakura keeps rejecting him. She's a b*tch. He should go for Hinata cause she's nice with him." It's pretty much stuff people have already said here just viewed through a different lens.

I agree with this, definitely. And I also agree with your post that we, as the readers, really should have been given an on-page conversation between the two. Naruto should have had a chance to confess his feelings, acknowledge the completion of the POAL, and lay things on the line. Kishi deprived us of that and it's a big problem.

NH/SS shippers laugh at us for saying the ending was OOC. They say an author can't make his own characters out-of-character. But you CAN make your own characters OOC if you've already laid a blue print for them.
For example Tite Kubo author of Bleach didn't want to draw Rukia in an angel costume even when fans asked him to. He said he figured "Rukia would refuse one" because it wouldn't be her style. Likewise..Sasuke apologizing to Sakura wouldn't be his style or Hinata stuffing herself into a sexy outfit wouldn't be her style but Kikitten doesn't give two sh*ts. The Naruto ending was out of kittening character.
