I saw this movie as a little bit of a risk...and also a little telling of who the primary audience would be. Of course we're the audience so we can only make assumptions. But I'm sure the marketing group for Jump or Naruto itself has tested to be certain who their target audience is and what they want to see.

Because.... In all the previous movies there was no risk. It was always Naruto x Other Girl. Sakura had minor parts in the beginning and end (in most), and was always supportive. But the prime focus is always the Other Girl. This is the safest route to keep the storyline intact and not drive away other ships.

So by keeping the focus on Naruto, his life and a pseudo-canon story, they are taking a risk that part of the fandom will fragment off from this. But I'm sure the hope is that they will also begin sway fans more toward Sakura as that will be the end pairing.

I'm interested to see how it will play out in the manga. How will Kishi appease the NH and SS fans? Not by having Naruto just kiss Sakura on the last page, but by steadily developing their storyline until there is no doubt that they are the end pairing. And then all but the staunchest NH/SS supporters will have moved over to support NS. And I think this movie is one of those paving stones on the path to eventual NS.

So it speaks volumes about the acceptance of NS among Japanese audiences, and the popularity of Sakura herself. Imagine if Hinata got the prime role! It would definitely mean that Hinata was the more popular character over there, and would only muddle the pairing wars even more. So a big yay! for that not happening! smile.gif

@NaruSaku4Life3g - I love Naruto's voice as Menma. So arrogant. It's like if Naruto turned into Sasuke, this is what he'd be!

Here's the video clip of it.

Loved the Akatsuki fight! But Naruto's brash again. Sakura is right to facepalm.

Not gonna lie, I'm glad they're going on a "date", and I know Sakura is a bit Tsun, but if I just ran into a girl and she suddenly pulled me by the ear like that, I would be pissed. I understand it's for comedic affect, but it's not very funny to me. WTH Sakura?

16:45 - Naruto and Sakura's "date." It's funny what Naruto keeps repeating at the ending. Not sure what he's saying but it's just funny.

As for movie sales, I'm just happy that it's the best selling. Rightfully so. Think of all the converted fans. mwahaha.gif

All I know is he repeats the word for "ear". Mimi however it's actually spelt means ear, I learned this from the Last Samurai. tongue.gif

I'm also glad this movie is doing so well. It sounds to be the best written movie to date, with Kishimoto-sensei actually being at the helm, instead of them just claiming he's a part of the development.

Ok, thanks. happy.gif

Well, it's not like they're strangers and plus, they were holding hands earlier. I find the segment funny because was like "Oh cool, a date!" so I bet that Sakura was like "it's not a date!" Funny, because the citizens around them are watching them like, "Young love..." It's a nice scene. I really wish I was in Japan right now. Lucky dovahkiin went there for a day.

I don't know anymore. huh.gif A Japanese Fan Artist left this on one of my art pieces:

"Surely, SAKURA is exposed to blame even in Japan in many cases.
I am always lamenting it.

But many of my friends love SAKURA and they also love NARUSAKU.

Therefore, I like the picture of your NARUSAKU very much!"

So, if Sakura gets a lot of hassle by fans and STILL make it in the top popularity polls, either the other female characters just aren't as appealing so they enjoy with what they have and/or Sakuras part in Team 7 is the cause of her popularity. Let's face it, if Sakura was not in Team 7, she would just be another Ino or TenTen but Kishimoto made her a part of team 7 and her character the way she is. Sakura wasn't just an "opps" or background character, she was a character created to drive her team in different areas.

And I always imagined that Sakura would have to make a quick decision between Naruto and Sasuke and in that moment she would know who meant more to her. I think it was mentioned in a chapter where Sakura asks herself who would she choose if she had to (maybe I am making crap up). I imagine Sakura would pick Naruto, if not, I am flipping tables due to her development going backwards:
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

And they always added a girl in the movies to add a "damsel in distress" situation. unsure.gif Even Sakura was used in that way in this movie. Although, Kakashi took that part in Will of Fire. th_7eyytubokky7rehok1k.gif

I will have to agree on some points with ciardha but I think the movie is a huge success mainly because there's a lot of focus on both hero and heroine. A lot of development between the male lead and female lead is what droves the audience to it. The past Naruto movies didn't had a single focus or development between both main characters so I guess anyone from the Japanese fans will get excited to see some bonding time between the hero and the heroine. Kishi knew exactly what to gives to his fans he supports NS and the Japanese fandom like NS and the bond Naruto and Sakura share (in which this movie Kishi shows it's WAY stronger than the Naruto/Sasuke bond). It's a strong bond of friendship and love.

I agree.

I love the fact that Kishi used the opportunity to show us the bond of NaruSaku. In the manga, it's there, but how about full fledged focus on the bond. This movie is the result. Not only that, but it really brings more shine to the hero/heroine, which people can see a different light. Naruto being so cool as usual and having the 4th Hokage robe is pretty sweet. Sakura having a realistic development that connects to Naruto and able to show how brave she is, is really nice. I like how she goes up to the enemy, even knowing if she has no chance to defeat all of them or Menma/Tobi. That's encouraging for audience that people who believed they are weak can be strong if they show bravery. To me, that makes me happy.

What I truly love is the development they both undergo. It makes it better that Naruto and Sakura didn't forget this whole experience, thanks to no I lost my memory but it felt real for whatever reason crap (I'm looking at you, movie 4!). Yes, the other movie didn't have a true development, rather only to the original character. This one is a development for NaruSaku. To me, Kishi shows that NaruSaku bond is just as important as NaruSasu. NaruSasu represents best friend to the end, while NaruSaku represents true love. I cannot wait for more NaruSaku in any form. This pairing has more than just lovey dovey, and that's why I support it.

IMO I think it was because of the whole concept of the alternate universe and Minato and Kushina being alive but we can agree to disagree.

huh.gif Yes you are that's part of a filler.

Here is my reply to a thread made about episode 222.
QUOTE (Don-kun;44255414)
Many people say Fillers doesn't count but when its use to support a pairing or bash Sakura they count. That was a bloody filler Sakura never said that and basing on her behavior in that arc many saw that she will choose Naruto over the man she loves

Before I find out the difference between the Anime team and the Manga plus their bias towards Hinata and bias against Sakura I thought that was truth until I learn that the Anime team is biased. I'm pretty sure many here knows that too, but still act like it really happen because they hate Sakura for her character past or pairing reason.

While I do agree with that user posted on your thread, people do hate Sakura in Japan that's is what I find out in those forums and Yahoo answer I read from Japan, also that's the reason why Kishi was surprised when he was told that Sakura was loved in America in one of his interview, don't ask me which one because you will be asking me to spend all day looking for it.

Don't worry because many of the user also have ???? marks asking why Hinata was popular in the west, they only like her action in 437 but nothing else. But Sasuke and Naruto character plus SS and NS are really loved there.

Gravenimage don't agree with anyone, take a minute of your time try to search some Japanese forum and get the answer for yourself. We all love Sakura, but honestly her confession really hurt her character, not loving Sasuke because SS is loved, lying to Naruto really hurt her charcter in the readers view, that's why I always wish Kishi should grew some and do some justice to her character is time.

I understand.

I find this to be the most complex situation for her character. It's clear that she wants Naruto to be safe. It's rather hard to tell why she has lie or not. That's the confusing part to me. No one address about her feelings, rather only addressing about her forgetting Sasuke. The only part I got out of it is that Naruto's priority will not be taken away, hence it's not just the promise that makes him wants to save Sasuke. You can never change Naruto's goals or priority. It's funny how in that psp game made it seem like Naruto is happy if she does loves him, but Sasuke is first thing first. I think he said it like, "Even you really feel that way, I still need to save Sasuke." Funny how they're the only one talk while everyone else wasn't present. I know, not needed for evidence, but like to address it nonetheless. Might as well.

Let's not forget one thing: Sakura still didn't get her development in the current arc. If you ask me, it's only building up since that lover nin's part. Naruto has replied to many people who done something good in the past. Konohamaru was developed by Naruto because he was proud of him to take on Pain and developed a rasengan, even in the early stage. Hinata got hers for being brave and shows confident (confessing). Sakura is a main character, so her development won't come and go. It will be fully addressed. This I have faith in Kishi.

Right now, we just have that confession in mind since we don't really get it why. At least for me. Rest assure, we should be getting our answer very soon. Come on, Wednesday...

When did I brought up the confession??? I'm talking about the RTN movie not the manga in general. I actually like her confession because it shows that she's willing to sacrifice her life if it means saving Naruto and putting him out of harms way as well as removing the burden she placed on him because of the POTLT. She only thought of Naruto no one else, yes she lied big deal I'm not going to hate her for it. She did what she had to do why are people still hating her for something so silly. In fact why are people judging her character just because she lie??? Look at Itachi he betrayed the entire village, killed the Uchiha clan, making Sasuke's life a living hell, joining Akatsuki etc only to show his true motives behind everything he did is to protect the village and Sasuke and I don't see people hating his character. I just can't believe people will continue to bring her confession and saying" she lie it hurts her character etc etc". You know what would have anger me for real? That Sakura really did intended in joining Sasuke, that she actually got the guts to go through with killing Karin and joining him for real turning her back on Naruto and the village. I am glad she realized in a heartbeat that Sasuke was completely different, that she hesitated in not killing Karin, that she wanted to attack him and poison him all along.

I can relate to this.

It would seem that in order to forgive Sakura, like Itachi, she must have a cool battle again. To me, she just needs to have a character development. I still like her. Actually I felt bad that the situation she was placed in. The sad part is that a lot of bad things has happened in Konoha and she did say that she's the one that needs some cheering. It doesn't help that Team 7 reunion looks impossible now that Sasuke is the world's criminal working with the world's terrorist. Noticed after the whole arc ended after Naruto's speech, she was happier. She was happy that Naruto cheered her up with a renewal hope for Team 7 to return, Naruto can finally rest after the whole ordeal which she smiles, and Tsunade is finally back up and alive which again she smiles. Heck, if I know better, that actually boosts Naruto much more because not only Tsunade is back and kicking, but the fact Sakura is happy makes him feel like working twice, no three times as hard. But I digress.

I am still fond of her character and hope for the best that Kishi will give her the best possible final development.

Because they are hypocrites and Biased toward their character and the pairing they like.
Look at SS they hate NS because they say Sakura doesn't love Naruto. Does Sasuke love Sakura?

Look at NH they hate NS because they think NS is negative while they hate Sakura, but they are ok with SS.

Look at SasuNaru, they hate Sakura character because she lied to Naruto but love their pairing when Sasuke is a lot worse to Naruto and curently wants to kill him.

Look at Itachi lover, the hate Sakura for being a liar but love Itachi who is the biggest liar in the Manga and screw on Sasuke's brains.

Is all about hypocrisy and biased opinions to support their pairing and the character they love.
The Sakura hating disgust me because her heart was in the right place and her character did a 180 from part one, wich others refuse to accept.

And about the rest, well he was only a reponce to a coment stating that the movie was popular because Sakura is one of the most popular female character in Japan, while that is not truth. She drop a lot after her confession to Naruto, not because of pairing since NS and Sakura pairing are very popular in Japan.

Yep. Basically the only fans that dislike Sakura in Japan are the naruhina shippers and the more hardcore SasukexNaruto shippers. The first group is the ones Kishimoto is hacked off at because of their Sakura bashing letters. They are a distinct minority of Naruto fans in Japan. The Japanese Narusaku shippers are quite fond of Sakura and the Sasusaku shippers like her too, ditto the Kakasaku shippers. You put those three groups together, plus the Sakura only fans (and Leesaku shippers- a significant minority group in and of itself in Japan) and you get the overwhelming majority of Naruto fans in Japan. I'll say it again, Japanese fandom is significantly different from western fandom. Sakura is very well liked amongst Japanese fans. Three ships including her are in the top 10 pairings in Japanese Naruto fandom, and two those sasusaku and narusaku are the top het ships in Japanese Naruto fandom.

16:45 - Naruto and Sakura's "date." It's funny what Naruto keeps repeating at the ending. Not sure what he's saying but it's just funny. It only reminds that shouldn't couple be alive and fun. I mean other couples there's only 50% fun or even less. I just can't see how other couples top this one.

Naruto says mimi mogeru, right?

So according to the internet mimi = ear and mogeru = torn off

So Naruro would be saying something like "My ear is gonna get torn off" over an over again. laugh.gif

Oh, Amanda! I had no idea that was your pic! I saw this one this a.m. on the NF link from this thread, and it pushed me over the edge to write a Sakura/Menma fic. So I've been clackity-clacking away all morning. Lol - I was actually just thinking I needed to find the artist so I could link to it when I posted the story. It's so beautiful, I should have known it was you!!! *trots off to DA to leave a comment on it*

I Learn of Amanda the day she calls me out for calling a NS story, not a real NS fan since it was about Sakura cheating on Naruto with Sasuke, I don't like those kind of story, but she didn't like the way how I address the Author. Since that day I relate her avatart from this site with her Avatar in FF.net and her user name in DA.

Lol.

That does make sense. Sheesh, this couple is so much fun to watch. Anyone noticed that they have the clip of the fence scene but skip it. Wish they start off there. Oh well. More hype for the movie. Wish to see the part where Sakura is watching Naruto having fun. Seems like a nice scene.
