That's about what I expect. He'll start of great then kill them with crunch-time interceptions.

I'm really confused so I hope you can explain it to me Nate. How does Burress get two years in jail for shooting himself while Stallworth gets only 30 days for drunkenly killing a man??
Also, this will probably have a big impact on Eli loosing his former number one receiver. I wonder how he will fair this season without him.

Wasn't it considered a felony possession? The law is damn strict on that one. He is actually lucky considering that it got dropped down to attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He could have looking at anywhere from 3 to 10 years.
Also, 30 days for DUI Manslaughter for Stallworth, he did stop and call 911. Along with the financial settlement to the family, he is also going to be on house arrest for 2 years, lifetime divers license suspension and undergo alcohol and drug counseling. So basically he gets to play ball and go home and that is it.

IIts pre season, not all the plays are being called. However, Aaron Rodgers and the Pack are looking good. But Cutler and the Bears are looking great.

My understanding is that Florida's intoxicated manslaughter statute has as defense that the victim was at fault for the accident (or something to that effect). In Stallworth's case, it may have been applicable because the victim was at least partially at fault for walking into traffic. My guess is prosecutors offered that believing that they a good chance of losing because of that defense so took a conviction and thirty days as opposed to getting nothing at trial.
On Plaxico....
I'm not familiar with New York law, so my first question would be does Plaxico have any other criminal history?
In Texas we have a variety of weapon statutes, the most relevant being Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (handguns, knives and clubs) (Class A misdemeanor), Possession of a Prohibited Weapon (specific list of prohibited weapons such as knuckles, switchblades, certain assault rifles) (also a Class A), and Unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (basically any convicted felon caught with a firearm) (a third degree felony).
I'm guessing Plaxico was busted under New York's version of felon with a firearm. which is why I ask if Burress has been in trouble before. It could be that New York simply has tougher weapon laws, but I bet Burress has been in trouble before (which may also explain his punishment).
But the bottom line is, it's two different set of facts, involving two different laws, states, and prosecutors.

Was a good opener and both teams are looking pretty good so far--except Steelers running game doesn't seem as efficient as last years. Rothlisberger is still imo inconsistent QB with making one good play out of a mess of bad ones. The better defense won out in this game and even without Polamalu the Steelers pulled through.

Oh no, the madden cover curse <Sarcasm>
He has a torn MCL, out for 3-6 weeks.
Santaino Holmes rocked tonight, and hopefully for the rest of the season. Is it me or Hines "Heinz" Ward kind of overreacted when he fumbled the ball, oh man was he pissed, on one play in ot he knocked the crap out of one of those defenders.
Football is back!! XD

Following Season: Traded to Jets, hurt arm.

Following Season: Hurt quadricep. Marked the beginning of the mental meltdown.

Following Season: Broke left foot.

Following Season: Hernia. Surgery halfway through season.
Following Season: Torn hamstring.

Following Season: Fractured right fibula.

Following Season: Tormented by injured ankle all season.

Following Season: Hurt knee, missed 5 games.

Following Season: Various injuries, lowest rushing total of his career.

Following Season: Barry Sanders was supposed to be on the cover. He retires and EA Sports puts Madden on the cover instead. His finger wagging pose looks ominously like an evil, overweight wizard putting a curse on every player to follow.

Basically this. I'm not looking up the exact deatils, but New York IS really strict when it comes to carrying firearms without a permit. Burress' defense was that he didn't know, and thought that a New Jersey permit would cover him. It didn't. His fate was sealed once he essentially threw himself on the mercy of the court and the Grand Jury indicted him anyway. Once it went to trial there was nothing he could've done except plea-bargain.
