Its decent. I came in with my expectations low, and they were met handily for about the first hour of the movie. Weak Special FX, generic action sequences and too many flashbacks trying to take the place of character development. However, Sienna Miller and Rachel Nichols are in this movie and stuff like this happens
The movie is saved.
And as the film goes along a plot actually unfolds that is interesting and the final battle scene actually has good special FX and action scenes. Marlon Wayans also didn't suck. Overall its not great but its good and does its job for a late summer movie. Now im off to google some more sienna miller.

District 9 7/10 If you've seen any of the clips or trailers for this film and think you know what you're going into, you're wrong! After seeing this film I am dead upset that Mr. Blomkamp didn't get a shot at the Halo world. But that is Fox we're talking about... so of course they'd let a cash cow, that would be done by a energetic intelligent upcomer, slip through their fingers. Not only did he succeed in creating a film with a deeper message but he also accomplish great effects in the film with a minimal budget of $30 mil. (yes I know I don't have that kind of money but by today's films standards). The pace of this film is pretty fast, I was never bored once. It manages to keep your attention the entire time without resting on absurd premises like the Crank films. Great fun, but it also has more to say. I won't give anything away other than the fact that the film is about aliens living among us in the Johannesburg, South Africa. Sharlto Copley, the main protagonist, does a great job with whatever dialogue he has, I say that because apparently a majority of the film's dialogue is improvised. He gots to drop the 'f' bomb a lot and that's just fun.

I was wondering about this movie. I am glad it is as good as it looked. I loved the social connotations behind the premise of the story. I was able to get an interesting backdrop with the official site for it, so I have an idea what it is about.
Knowing 10/10
Really, I absolutely loved this movie and was surprised about how sci fi it ended up being. There is not enough I could say about how I loved this movie. Nicholas Cage once again played himself but it seemed a bit more genuine in showing his emotions. I will say he acted better in this movie, then most of the ones he has started in. I don't want to get into too much to spoil it for you guys but I will say this: The correlation between the spiritual and scientific is something I have had a theory about for a long time.

A classic movie with the added dose of witches and midnight margaritas~
Something I can easily watch again and again (and even listen to the CD as well) without getting bored, seeing as it was one of my first "favorites" back in the nineties! :3

At first I thought it was a remake, but it was a sequel to the original movie. Though I had seen the other sequels, I haven't quite seen most of the first (and I have the DVD...

Simply awesome. Most satisfying movie I've seen in a long time. I can't wait to see it again.

Alright, I know that I'm only 13, but I watched it with my relatives, so it's all good.

I had watched it a while ago in HBO, and by coincidence, the room was very dark ... and I was rolled up in my blanket.

Johnny Depp portrayed his character so well, that it was absolutely breathtaking. The terrific twists, the THRILLING songs, and the various characters definitely gave me cold chills down my spine. It was filled with angst and horror, but at the same time, the songs were very beautiful that I was simply awestruck.

I never imagined that someone can actually portray that kind of play/film that would want you to close your eyes because of the blood and gore, but whatever happens, your eyes stick glued to the screen. The scenery was so gray and gloomy, and their skins were incredibly pale, so the atmosphere the movie gave off was definitely creepy in a special way. And because of that, I really couldn't look to another direction.
Johnny Depp is amazing!

I really liked the characters of Toby, Anthony, and Johanna ... not to forget Sweeney and Ms. Lovett.
The film is a little bloody and violent, but the characters sing every time they are given a chance, so overall, I liked it well enough.

District 9- 0/10 the most cheesiest/ sorriest movie i ever seen. Made by the same people who made cheesy Cloverfield and i for one aren't to fund of Peter Jackson's stories and don't even get me started on the sorry Alien design (a freaking walking cockroaches) and the way the story is being told like a documentary. The movie reminded me of the many other cheesy/sorry Sci-Fi channel movies that come on. ^ I really don't see how the posters above even gave such a rating for the movie, I guess they haven't seen many alien/sci-fi flicks as i have. I actually got more laughs out of the movie than anything else.
No need to hate on others because they 'haven't' seen as many sci-fi flicks as you. Most of us watch them on a daily basis. Btw, District 9 wasn't made by the same people that made Cloverfield... Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp are geniuses. Blomkamp made the Halo short film series, and Peter Jackson did a wonderful job at the Lord of The Rings trilogy. If you don't like it, don't take it out on the other posters. I enjoyed District 9, and so do critics and most moviegoers everywhere, since it has an 88% approval rating right now. We're sorry our tastes aren't as 'good' as yours.

I apologize for the off topic-ness.
Man on Fire - 10/10
Re-watched this movie today. Must say the action still delivers on my 3th watch. Denzel Washington does his role well as a cold-hearted assassin seeking revenge.

When i went to see the movie their was only 15 people total in the theater and almost entirely everyone including myself were laughing our arses off instead of being the other way around. So i give it 7/10 for making me and others laugh other than that it's a 0/10 for me.
Sorry, I went back and changed my post. I just hated the plot of the movie which led me to overall hate the movie. Just because it's made by Blomkamp (never heard of) and Peter Jackson doesn't mean that it gains everyone's attention. I don't study games/manga/anime enough to even figure out such fandom based questions. On a personal note I've always been an old school action packed as the main focus over new fantasy plots, so that's why I haven't been into Rings/Potter and so on. Naruto, One Piece and Bleach have been the only ones to greatly appeal to my liking as Manga/Anime, One day i saw the three on tv and it just flew through my mind. So far only Naruto

The first time I saw this movie, I actually found myself underneath the covers half of the time (seven years old at the time but I was with my parents), but I noticed it was on TV and decided to check it out. Saw it a few weeks ago as well but wasn't paying much attention at the time. Besides the gruesome deaths of the twelve ghosts of The Black Zodiac, the story wasn't one I could actually get into - one example being exactly how Cyrus actually survived his 'death' brought upon by The Jackal but I didn't let the whole thing faze me. However, behind the main plot, the past stories of the ghosts were very captivating which left a slight drop of the jaw; seeing as there were certain situations needed for them to perish in such a way.
Though the ending was oddly pleasant and Tony Shaloub played the part of a distressed widow still mourning the loss of a wife, which is why his place as the "Thirteenth Ghost" is perfect, the middle seemed to drag on. Each ghost left a terrifying chill down my spine (especially The Tainted Princess; i think that was her name xD) but I was glad to see them 'at peace' in the end.
Still, even eight years later... this movie was not a favorite of mines.

I personally don't count approval ratings for much of anything. All they mean is that a percentage of film critics enjoyed it or didn't. As we all know, they tend to be cynical pricks who don't care for much of anything and thrash almost everything beyond belief. They can even be kittens when they're trying to be positive. I really have a low opinion of movie critics, I know, but I think it's justified.
Just thought I'd throw in my two cents on that particular bit.
I personally haven't seen District 9 as of yet. Not entirely sure if I'm going to or not. The trailers I've seen make it come off like it's going to be another one of those "humans are bad, racist, etc, are just terrible wastes walking the planet" type of movies and personally I'm getting kind of tired of that sort of cynical media, so if that's what it actually is I may end up passing entirely.
I may check it out on DVD. I don't know.
Re-watched this movie today. Must say the action still delivers on my 3th watch. Denzel Washington does his role well as a cold-hearted assassin seeking revenge.
I particularly liked the ending. It wasn't quite how you figured something like that would normally end. It was bittersweet and I thought it added to the movie.
