What I want to know is. Why would Naruto say "I like people like you" instead of "I like you" if he was REALLY declaring his undying love for Hinata.
Face it Naruto likes people who acknowledges him and up until that time he didn't even like Hinata passing her off as a weirdo girl. After standing up to Neji he respects her and after acknowledging him he saw her as a friend. After all his main reason for even sticking around to talk to Hinata in the first place was because he wanted to know how strong Neji was.

Here's a another theory. During the 2nd rescue mission a different Sakura could be fighting by herself a strong sound ninja she puts up a good fight but the sound ninja is winning the fight. Just when it looks like Sakura is going to bite the dust either these two scenarios will happen
1. Sasuke shows up right front of her kills the sound ninja, then some small talk could happen between the two or Sasuke quickly leaves not saying to anything to Sakura at all but saving Sakura's life is saying enough.?
2. Same as one but instead showing up in the fight from the "shadows" he helps Sakura maybe by throwing a weapon at the sound ninja distracting the sound ninja which gives Sakura enough time for herself to attack the enemy thus defeating that sound ninja. It may not be too apparent who may have helped her but she knows and thinks to herself that it was Sasuke who helped her. On the next panel we see a "shadowy figure" behind a tree that looks like Sasuke smiling.?
Well I'm just throwing my theory out there it could happen.
