I agree with those that say the act of the CPR in and of itself is not romantic. However, I do think that it is symbolic. It's been mentioned before, but you can't get any further into someone's personal space. Her lips are on his and her hand is on his heart. Nuf said there. I think the more telling portion of the chapter is the blending of his and her dreams and how desperate she is to keep them alive. It's not just for Naruto, but for herself too. Plus, these thoughts are not complete, so we could get more as the situation becomes more desperate. Probably not a coincidence that Gaara was present when Naruto risked it all to defend Sakura and is here again in this situation.

 

My ideal scenario from this point is Gaara Sakura and Naruto reaching Kakashi Minato and Obito just before Madara. Obito throws in a Sakura/Rin parallel. Madara arrives and wants the other eye. He notices Naruto, still tended to by Sakura. He notices the other half of Kurama in edo Minato. He decides not to take any risks and finish them. Sakura uses her own body to shield Naruto. Kakashi and Gaara create a diversion while Minato uses FTG to take Naruto and Sakura somewhere secluded to create the seal. We get a Minato/Sakura moment, maybe another mention of Kushina. Or Minato gives Sakura a message to pass on to Naruto. Minato creates the seal and heads back to help Gaara and Kakashi. Even with the new seal it takes awhile for Naruto to recover. NaruSaku moment... Dark Kurama has learned the secret of FTG from Minato. 9 tails charkra is the key because Naruto can jump to anyone who has a trace amount of his chakra. Naruto heads back to the battle. In strength Naruto can't compete with Madara, but if he masters FTG, he could use it to deliver lightning fast blows without getting touched in return, weakening Madara enough for another game of tug of war. Maybe Sauske recovers and provides a distraction that leads to end game victory.

 

I'd also like to know Bee's status, if word of Naruto's condition is spreading on the front line and how it is affecting everyone, and if Karin might be Naruto's first cousin due to the similarity of her abilities to Kushina. They are rare and valued afterall and Oorchimaru probably recognized that. Or she is a Kushina replica as Yamato is a replica of the first hokage.

 

If anyone is interested in foreshadowing of the events of the manga up till now, take a look back at chaper one. There is an image of the leaf village with Naruto in the foreground surrounded by flames. To his right is a toad (Gambunta?) blowing smoke that is also wrapping around Naruto. Kakashi is standing on the toad's head with arms folded. The two things I find most interesting about this image are how Sakura is depicted and how Sauske is depicted. Sakura is actually tucked into the toad's robe directly over the his heart. She is looking in Naruto's direction, shielding her eyes trying to see him more clearly. I think this speaks to where Kishimoto has intended to take Sakura's story all along leading up to the current event. Sauske is the only figure to Naruto's left. He is alone, aloof, and riding atop a hawk. I guess that one's pretty self explanitory. Anyway, thought it was interesting.

I totally agree on the symbolism. And I love the fact that you thought to go back to look at that artwork from the beginning. So right!

 

As someone in the same relationship dynamic as NS, I'm just wondering if she knew all along that she would have to save him from the extraction at some point. For Sakura, her way of showing that she cares for people is by making sure that they are taken care of, so it would make sense that she had mentally prepared herself for this moment (although perhaps not emotionally) to save Naruto. Seeing as her emotions are always 4 million steps behind her intelligence and the task at hand, we will finally get to see how she really feels about Naruto after he dies. Which is an intriguing prospect. 

 

I'm also interested in what Minato has to say to her, considering that he had already broken the ice with Sakura by accusing her of being his son's SO. Will he see that she cares for him? What will he say to her if she doesn't love him? Will he talk to her about being his good friend, instead? I'm pretty sure everyone here at NS would throw up a little if it were the latter.

 

Anyhow, here's my view as a BME on the ninja CPR:

1. I'm fairly sure that this is obvious to all of you already, but it was out of necessity. Is Sakura so selfish to think that, while he was dying, this was her only chance to kiss Naruto?

2. Because Naruto's body was shutting down, Sakura had to keep his heart pumping to keep oxygen flowing to his brain. I'm pretty sure that grabbing someone's heart and adding electrical stimulation would not help...it kind of reminds me of this game:

3.So his heart is now (possibly) continuing to beat because of her chakra. Now he is running of out of oxygen because his lungs suddenly aren't working..? Okay, so she gives him mouth-to-mouth for more O2. This procedure is meant to stabilize, not keep someone alive for any length of time, so he is still running out of O2 and dying.

4. While he is fading, Naruto's brain is losing oxygen, and his brain cells are dying very quickly. Very soon, if he does not get to safety in time, he will have some major dain bramage. 

5. There is a huge gash in his side where she is sticking her (non-sterile) hand into his body. Now (IRL) Naruto's chances of surviving are slim to none because he is bleeding and becoming infected.

 

But she's INSIDE of him! You can't get much closer to a man than that. Is she gonna tell her future husband that she stuck her hand in another man's rib cage and grabbed his heart? That's pretty intimate. Gotta do that for my man.

 

Everyone, please stick to chest compressions (on the outside) and CPR (on THE OUTSIDE) if you are ever in this situation.

I know.  It's just that Obito's obsession over Rin has been emphasized to the point that any joke relating to it comes across as bad taste in my opinion.
 
I hope we do get exposition on that line from Orochimaru.  It could give Karin some much needed depth to her character.

You know, it could be possibly that she's related to Kushina and I don't mean due to name. If so, this can get good and I like the fact the name Uzumaki given to Karin is not a throwaway.

Well, next week is Valentine's day and my birthday too, so I hope that Kishi hooks up something special and hopefully a romantic treat for us.   With the way the chapter ended with Sakura's thoughts, I'm crossing my fingers hard. 

 

EDIT: I also heard that the chapter is coming out early next week. Tuesday, I think, because of a Japanese holiday.

You know, I know we are calmed and understand the situation but I do wonder how Japan audience reacted with that first CPR. I mean hardcore fans could jump to conclusion ASAP. It sure showed that for RtN.

As you can see, they consider it as a victory for NaruSaku. But you have to know that since chapter 631, NaruSaku is already canon for a lot of NS fans in Japan. You should have seen that, there were a lot of "NaruSaku is official! Yatta" and the difference with us is that they were not hardcore anti-NS that were denyinf the whole scene.

Why is important to me? 7 is my lucky number, and since we're seeing what's been happening since chapter 662 (5 in the volume). I'm hyped, but I also wanna be cautious. I agree, or to say the least half the chapter on Naruto's POV and the second half of Sasuke's POV. If you really think about it, that's kinda what we got in this week's chapter. As far as 665 goes that will be the final chapter to end the focus in this volume.  Though I'm really curious about Chapter 666 will have. I mean could you imagine if Kishi makes a reference to his brother's O Parts Hunter (666 Satan) Manga. That's the really the answer I'm wanting to know. I wouldn't worry too much about next week, but still fingers crossed.

I just thought of something, what if like the Sharingan the Chakra Chains also has a criteria, only instead of being close to death yourself it's seeing the person you love coming close to death? For Karin it was the trigger of Sasuke coming close to Deaths door, but Naruto has not awoken it because Sakura has never been close to dying with Naruto around, Ofcourse if that theory is correct it would put a major dent in NaruHina fandon as it would prove Naruto is not in love with her, she's been on deaths door twice infront of him and he's not unlocked the chakra chains.

 

I seriously hope we get an explanaition next chapter, I can't think of what particular trigger awakened Karins bloodline limit but never awakened in Naruto, and if this Manga end without Naruto unlocking atleast one of the Uzumaki bloodline limits i'll be seriously pissed. Ofcourse it's possible that Orichimaru experimented on her using Kushina's DNA like he did with Yamato...which would be freaky because then it would mean Karins is partially Narutos mothers clone and we really don't want to go there.

 

Edit: One last thing I just realised, once Minato transfers the half of Kurama to Naruto he'll likely also disappear from losing the Bijuu, with the last person he'll likely talk to is Sakura, so I wonder what his last words to her be? I wouldn't be surprised if it sounds similar to a father asking his daughter in law to take care of his son.

Aww, that's so cute! I love how Japan is so chill about pairings.

And the bit about 631.    I remember reading a Japanese fan writing on his/her blog about Sakura and Minato's first meeting, calling Sakura his daughter-in-law and the "take care of my son" comment was adding insult to injury after the Kushina comparison, and that Sakura is now parent approved.  It was adorable. I would love to see more of their comments about both 631 and 663.

I want narusaku so bad....I mean, it's pretty much canon ...I wonder if the other fans still think we are in denial? Lol...I get so sick of dealing with that, it's the main reason I'm rarely on YouTube, I through In a comment or two to defend Sakura or narusaku...but over all I tend to avoid the comment section there...

Interesting thing is, from what I have seen,a lit of people who don't like narusaku are starting to give up on thinking that it's not going to happen, and I mean...canon wise. They see now that it will happen. Some don't like it, but I think more people are liking it. Could just be me, but from what I have seen, a lot more people ship narusaku then their used to be, of course, I don't visit YouTube much anymore , and maybe the other fans are still in force....idk. I mainly don't bother too much with the pairing bit, I really just wish more people would see that Sakura has always been useful to Naruto. I came across one comment that implied that she is only just now being useful to him. I jumped on that comment right away.

I'm sure those comments are just ...not that well thought out. So many people don't recall that Sakura saved Naruto first...and at th start of the series, he only saved her once. Just once, mind you, I'm speaking before shippuuden happened.(also not counting fillers)

In a series that focuses on the guys and the fights they get it, I think she has done enough helpful, and even cool fights. I hope that see makes other manga writers see that even in shounens ,it's a good idea to have the girl not just be their as the love interest...but really be awesome just ...because ..why not? I think Sakura's character is setting that in motion. The whole girls can fight two, and it doesn't have to be a magical girl shoujo type for it to happen either.

Sawyer is just too biased. I'm subscribed and like his content but he's just too biased when it comes to Naruto. It's quite clear he just wants Sakura out of the picture, and he really does. He's made a lot of theories that serve to ultimately have Sakura removed from Naruto (the character) and it's simply because she's still a threat to Hinata. Sakura has no chakra anyway, how would she be able to perform Chiyo's jutsu in the first place? Not to mention she doesn't even know it.

while i agree sawyer is biased when it comes to sakura vj is 20 times worse  i decided to watch his review for the heck of it and man was he all over the place

Probably more but can't think now. You could argue 64 as well when you think about it, but that's your call.
