I think they are kinda similar actually, with many differences ofc. One of them is that Isayama acknowledges Historia's flaws and lets her develop from them, Kishi ignores Hinata and mocks her for the flaws that he never lets her grow from. :<
Yeah that's one of the many things I like about Historia's character she's not the typical shy girl that you see in a anime/manga, and that Isayama is exploring and acknowledging that she's not the perfect girl "godesss" everybody thinks she is...
Now when it comes to this last arc alot of people were complaining about how the titans weren't the main focus, it became too centered on the political side of the things alongside the humanity vs humanity subplot. Now I'm going to perfectly honest I think the set up sorta dragged out. How do I put it this way usually an arc for Attack on Titan is about 4 Volumes long, and this one took up 5 Volumes (13-17). Had Isayama condensed some of the political stuff I think it would've been perfect, but I get why though it's for the purpose of Season 2 and given characters their moment to shine. However we had huge revelations taking place like Mikasa and Levi discovering they are Ackermans, some development for Jean and Armin, A history behind the origin of The walls (sort of), the revelation about Eren's Father, fleshing out Historia's character and seeing her as the queen, and also shedding some plotpoints with The Ackerman and The Reiss Family I think it was great.
I do agree though that Historia and Hinata are kinda similar, but they've got alot of differences though. To be honest when I first got that reveal about her character I was like damn I wish there were more characters like her.
What's your stance on Historia's character sushi?
