Why are you mad?
Naruto is going to be hokage either way

Because it's bad writing.

The only explanation that I can think of at the moment is that Naruto is still too young to be Hokage, at this point. Assuming a 2-3 year time skip in the film, he'd be 19-20 years-old, which is still too young to be a leader. He may have the ideals, potential, and strength, but he still has a lot to learn, you know? He's essentially still a kid.

Plus, his discussion with Obito might have something to do with this. If memory serves, he's probably cognizant of Obito's wish in this regard, so he's accommodating this wish of his, as well.

Finally, it makes sense in a narrative standpoint, too, to a certain extent, I think. Remember the rule of Chekhov's gun: Never introduce a plot element/idea, unless you're intent on following through with it. We've seen Kishi wrap up various plot elements one way or another in recent chapters, and this would be yet another thing that he'd be bringing in full circle, since the idea, which has some merit, was tossed around before.

So is Gaara.

Gaara is the same age as Naruto, and he's the Kazekage. And he became Kazekage a long time ago.

Which I've told you - time and time again - is dangerous! There will never be consensus, son, among those you have helped to ascend. They will all differ in their views of what it means to be free. The peace you so desperately seek does not exist.

These men are united now by a common cause. But when this battle is finished they will fall to fighting amongst themselves about how best to ensure control. In time it will lead to war. You will see.

I don't think it will become canon in the movie, I think it already will be canon.

Why would Naruto wait atleast 2 years to confess to Sakura after he finally defeats Sasuke? Either he's a total puss or he suddenly just lost interest for a while.

hehe, idk man i gonna laugh if all this paring stuff still remain :smug:

Difference is Gaara actually knows what he's doing and had likely had years of perpetration to go through while Naruto didn't because he was away

Well it was never said when Naruto would become Hokage

Anyways, I'll wait for more information before I jump into conclusions this early(man I have said this like 10+ times today)

On a side note, is nb down for anybody else?

I really don't get why people are so surprised. It's been foreshadowed so many times already that it was about as obvious as NS becoming canon...

I'm ok with it, its not like kakashi had anything better to do anyway. He's among the most intelligent and experienced characters in the series Naruto becoming hokage before him despite both of them being foreshadowed for the role for a while now is what would surprise me honestly.

So effectively Kishi screwed the story once again.

I've already said this, but way back when Shikaku nominated Kakashi as the Hokage that made sense. It was well integrated in the story. But right now it doesn't make any sense. Let's say Tsunade is dead or retired, the one that next in line is very clearly Naruto. Not only that he's the savior of the village but the savior of the world, also this was his goal/dream ever since he was a kid.

And now the title goes to a character that has no relevancy in story anymore, so we must give it to him to keep him relevant. Brilliant.

I think Naruto is powerful and yeah, everyone loves him now... but he's not exactly a leader.

Itachi, Kakashi and Shikamaru were the only ones who were told "you could be a good hokage"... That title can be taked only for someone who is accepted, there are more skills to consider... it's a polical position after all. Gaara's case it's very different and you all know that. Naruto is too irresponsable and doesn't get complicated words. Even worse, bureaucracy is not his thing. He's the kind of guy who follows his heart and that's all. He will just forgive the one who tried to kill the woman he loves. At least Hashirama reacted at the end, "killing" Madara.

Naruto will be Hokage some day, with Shikamaru and Sakura helping him with the kind of things he's not good at.

I don't "like" the idea of Kakashi being Hokage, tbh. But,...^

Yeah, it doesn't really bother me at all. I actually kinda like the idea, and its not like Naruto isn't gonna be the Hokage now. We just have to wait a little bit longer for it to happen now.

So is Gaara.

Gaara is the same age as Naruto, and he's the Kazekage. And he became Kazekage a long time ago.

Yeah, but Gaara is more mature than Naruto and obviously has undergone much more training. Like I said, while Naruto has what it takes to become a successful Hokage on various counts, he still has a lot to learn before his accession to the position, not to mention that it's intertwined with various other plot elements that require resolution beforehand. While Gaara effectively has taken over the leadership position, Naruto didn't come to have a political goal until the battle against Pain, if memory serves, and only during this arc do we see him showing a more judicious side, which is expected of leaders.

Besides, Kakashi said he's not too terribly interested in being Hokage, and he clearly wants to see Naruto achieve his dream. He'll probably take over the position until Naruto is deemed fit to take over it and, as his instructor, might even provide him with the training necessary, so that he'll be well equipped to take over when the time comes.

I knew Naruto wasn't going to be hokage after the war when Gaara asked him if he wanted to have a drink with him to celebrate his new position (and Kushina told him not to drink until he's 20)

Actually, Kushina's request is based on the cultural norm in Japan.

Like I stated before, on that count, we can also deduce that nobody from Naruto's generation will be parents, yet. (I'm only bringing this up, since this has also been a debate about this film.)  From what I can tell, they prefer waiting until you're a little older until you get married.

what age?

Because from what I can tell from all the shonen mangas I've read so far alot of characters (practically all of them) get married when they are around 17-18 years old sometimes younger.

Because from what I can tell from all the shonen mangas I've read so far alot of characters (practically all of them) get married when they are around 17-18 years old sometimes younger.

Ummm...Not sure about that. Probably in their twenties, though? I heard it's 22, at one point, although I can't corroborate it.

Off the top of my head, one series I can think of that involved this is "InuYasha," which makes sense because it was the norm for people to get married at a younger age in the past. Actually, I'm guessing that the age at which Inuyasha and his friends got married is considered old for Feudual Japan. :chuckle: Conversely, when Souta said that Kagome, who was 18 or 19 at the time, got married, his friends were shocked and asked if she was a yankee, which indicates that in modern Japan, they advocate waiting for a slightly older age for one to get married.

Does "Rurouni Kenshin" have marriage at a younger age, too, by any chance (I haven't read it, yet, although I'd love to so much.) That would make sense, too, since it takes place during the Meiji period, if my knowledge of the series is correct, which probably also dictated a younger age of marriage.

Otherwise, I can't think of other series off the top of my head that involve a younger couple. In "Fullmetal Alchemist," for example, I'm guessing that Edward and Winry are in their mid-to-late twenties when we see that they have their own family. In "Bakuman," which I also believe is a shounen series, I think that the main pairing doesn't get engaged until their twenties. (Not sure about this one, as I'm going by hearsay.) In "Bleach," I don't think Masaki and Isshin got married until they were in their twenties or thirties. (That's what I think, based on how old Kubo made them look.) Although I'm not much of a fan of Shoujo series, we typically don't see couples getting married until they're in their twenties. (At least, that what it seems like to me.)

I'm not 100% sure, though, as I'm just going from what I've inferred from what I've read and/or seen. Hopefully, it'll open up a dialogue about it, though.

Japanese become adult when they reach 20 years old. There are a celebration for it in japan. They are consider as adult by Japanese society and allow to drink sake. I think.

Those are off the top of my head.

I thought Yusuke & Keiko were already in High school during the manga.
