The thing is, The Last's production and promotional budgets aren't on the same level as the Chronicles of Narnia or Terminator. Making a return on those two respective investments so that the final estimates are in the positive shouldn't be as difficult when the ideal profit return is less than 150 million Yen away from being realised. Even a small percentage return in the international releases will garner additional profit that wasn't originally there for Pierrot, and with a potential market of 850,000,000 people altogether, I would surmise that any foreseen costs like tariffs, distribution, and promotion will have been accounted for via theatrical ticket sales. 
 
As I already said, The Last's production value can't be much that much greater than the likes of RtN. An estimate of $10 million seems considerable for a movie franchise with such lacklustre standards as Pierrot's Naruto. Even if the promotional costs were to run as high as 45-50% of said production value, it's still technically a net profit, albeit small for the time being.

Where did you get the information that the LAST's production budget can't be higher than the RTN? That's very different to what I'm hearing. I hear that the LAST's budget is much higher. Especially, the numbers of theaters they showed the movie, and the commercial they showed in numerous channels unlike RTN. Other than the last part about commercials, my source is 2ch so it's not really reliable.

All I can say is, unless we gain the information of the production costs we will never know the profits. All of what we're saying will be just speculation. However, what I CAN say is that the LAST should have earned a lot more when since their first week sales was 500 million. Comparing to the other movies that earned the same in the first week.

Yeah, if he was locked in a contract, and he knew the original direction of the story had been given up in favor of more money for the series...then I could see him trying to insert his opinion in some other, more creative ways. 

 

I think it's simply to fishy to think otherwise. I mean, why call it that title? 

 

 

Knowing the ending that was to come, I honestly think that this is the way Kishimoto would've liked it to go down, if he'd had his way.

 

And that's not to say that either Sakura or Karin would have been absolutely paired up with Naruto and Sasuke in the end. I still bet he would have left it open. But I think it would have ended with those parallels. And most importantly, Hinata wouldn't have been in the mix at all.

 

In "The Real End," Hinata is shown as the side character she's been all along in the manga. Not being able to do enough and falling dramatically short. I think the name of the chapter was intentional, for readers to find when they came back and reread the manga after bait-and-switch ending.

I feel like a complete idiot for not having paid more attention to the title for Ch.662 back then. It wasn't until I got to this thread that I became aware of the unusual naming for this chapter. I also believe that Kishi might have tried to indirectly signal something to his fans with this title.

Btw, wasn't this around the time Kishi's father has just died? He took a break after this chapter for a week if I remember correctly. Do you guys think that his father's death affected his original plans for the ending in some way?

That's why my original guess on the amount of people who might come out to watch the film was only 0.1% of the 850 million demographic. On a cost-per-ticket basis of $8.01 as the average in Gaara's Hair provided, the earnings are bolstered with an additional 6.8 million USD from that 0.1%, or approximately ¥800 million. Enough to put The Last over RtN by ¥1.18 billion, or 10 million USD.
 
Now tell me, do you believe that the disparity between RtN's promotion and production costs versus The Last's are equal to that amount?

To me, nothing can replace NaruSaku. I'm not even looking for a replacement tbh. So many wonderful and emotional moments b/w those two in 698 chapters over the course of the eight years in which I've been a fan of this series- it's hard to find another ship that will make the same amount of impression to me.

While Touken is wonderful and reminiscent of NaruSaku as I've realized yesterday txh to AHK, I'm still far from investing as much affection to this ship as I used to with NaruSaku. But things might change of course in the future depending on how much time Ishida invests in this ship (he seems to ship Touken, too) ;)

An admittance of 2chan's unreliability coming from one of the horses' mouths itself. This might give us incentive to treat any information gained from their forums with a bit more caution, in the event they're proven false.

I didn't argue that The Last couldn't hold greater production and promotion value because it obviously has. What I'm challenging is the idea that its expenditures would tally up so high as to outpace RtN by some outrageous amount above maybe 200% of the predecessor's value.

How much did it earn during the first week compared to RtN? I believe it was 156%. You're probably right about the low-level domestic return which Pierrot didn't account for, but they still have 7 other countries to premiere their film in.

If my guesstimate holds up, The Last could potentially earn upwards to ¥2.66 billion at the box office (international and domestic profits are factored in). Is that successful enough for you?

No, I'm asking if you believe that a $10 million increase from RtN's box office earnings is enough to compensate for the greater production and promotion value of The Last.

She's right. Look at all the times Hinata took care of Naruto. She helped him every single time when he was trying to bring back Sasuke, and she always tried to protect his dream no matter the cost. Hinata was always there with Naruto, by his side, slowly seeing all his flaws and understanding him the most. She's a part of Team 7 after-all. One of my favorite moments is when she saved his life with her CPR (aka, the kiss of life), and when Minato asked her to take care of him. *insert the rest of the moments here*
 
Oh wait, that was Sakura.

You could say a secret Tsundere. Unlike Sakura, she is more tomboyish, curses a lot (aka "kitten Kaneki" ), and more impulsive.
So far, she has only shown to Kaneki a Tsundere side.

Well I can't give you an answer because again, we don't know how much their costs are

You could say that Naruto "deserves" Sakura in the same way that he "deserves" to become hokage.

 

That was Naruto's stated goal in the beginning of the story. To become hokage and have the village accept him. Now imagine if the story had ended with Naruto never attaining the hokage position. Imagine if it had been impossible to fix his arm after his battle with Sasuke.

 

So now he's a cripple who's unfit for duty. So the story ends with him having to give up his life as a shinobi as well as his dream of becoming hokage. 

 

Not quite what you'd except right? After all, one of the central themes of the manga is that you can achieve anything through hard work and dedication.

 

What I'm basically trying to say is that this is Naruto's story. Therefore it's reasonable to expect that the story will go in a direction where Naruto achieves whatever goals he sets forth, whether it's becoming the leader of his village or getting the girl of his dreams.

 

So couldn't the story go in a direction where HInata achieves her goals? Sure, but there's a clear difference between Hinata and Naruto. Hinata is a side character, while Naruto is the main character. Therefore his goals and dreams should take precedence over everyone else. 

 

Most NS fans I know don't just want Sakura to fall for Naruto "Just because". What we actually wanted was for Sakura to fall for Naruto of her own accord. 

 

That was what the story was leading up to, until Kishi suddenly decided to throw it all in the trash.

 

Naruto never forced himself on Sakura. Instead he genuinely cared about her and wanted to protect her and make her happy.

 

Same with Sakura. Over time she also came to greatly appreciate Naruto on his own terms, to the point where he was one of her most precious bonds.  

 

Hinata on the other hand never made any serious attempts at getting closer to Naruto. They did have some meaningful interaction, but it could never compare to what Naruto and Sakura had.

 

And that's really the crux of the problem. NH may have been well intentioned, but it just didn't have the development to support it. Something NS had in spades.

Sakura is tomboyish compare to other girls except TenTen but as much as Touka...weird how I started caring for Touka out of nowhere
