Yeah they do. Kaguya, Hamura, Byakugan we need some explanation.

Kaguya already had an explanation. She was what everyone wanted: someone for Naruto and Sasuke to kill without feeling sympathetic for.

The Hyuuga clan exist to give Neji and Hinata more depth, not the other way 'round.

The one thing I dont understand is why are they keeping Sasuke and Sakura hidden unless its a contrasting case to Naruto and Hinata being spammed in which case SS is canon too

Sasuke's problems with Naruto have already been resolved in the manga. They've already kissed and made up, there's no more story to tell.

And NH =/= automatic SS.

That's why there is a villian. Cause if it was only about Hinata - there woudl go only 30% of all Narutofans (is that is NH and Hinata fanclub numbers?)

Yeah, and the villain himself who happens to be interested in Hinata.

Story writing/ pairings becoming canon is not a popularity contest. Do I need to bring up Harry Potter as an example?

Hanabi is captured. That is literally the only reason Hinata is on the mission. She of course has a talk with Naruto about if she can be strong for her sister.

@Nefertieh:

I think it's strange too. That's why I was skeptical about all this Hinata focus. Why would you add so much Hinata in a movie and delve so much into her feelings for Naruto just for a side character's closure? There's also the fact that they're making it very sympathizing. Like I said once, if I hadn't read the manga I would think Hinata was the main character and gets what she wants, not Naruto.

But still, I doubt Hinata is the only thing in this. Since the main villain is related to the Sage, it may explain more about him and Kaguya as well as the connection between Hamura and the Hyuga Clan. Hinata seems to have a large role in the movie, but that doesn't mean that's all it is. There's also the chance all her focus is just false advertising, though I personally doubt it.

I read that writer's thoughts on this and how he said this movie might serve the purpose of Hinata moving on because it couldn't fit in the manga. Sorry, but I don't buy that. If Kishimoto REALLY wanted to, he could've made her resolve to move on after the IT is released. That means the only purpose of Hinata's feelings are simply delaying closure for drama or worst case scenario force-feeding us NH.

I'm betting on the drama reason, but tbh both options are terrible and contrived.

Hanabi was not some random ninja Kishimoto picked out of a hat to be captured. The only reason why she was captured was to give Hinata relevance.

I would be saying the same thing about Kiba if say, Akamaru was captured.

I spent some of the last few days going through the manga and there is absolutely no way, unless Kishi just makes a huge, huge mistake, that NS isn't going to happen. Hinata is a side-character and Sakura and Naruto and the possible romance between them has been teased and teased and teased. Not to mention the several Kushina parallels. They have the funniest, deepest, and best relationship and Sakura finally realizing that Naruto, the real man who, like Minato with Kushina's insecurity (her red hair), likes her insecurity (Sakura's forehead), and has been at her side selflessly pursuing the redemption of a friend. Too many moments, too much interaction, too much romantic notions between them, too great of a relationship to throw it away for a likable side-character. No way.

That said, I had a hilarious thought. It would be the biggest troll move that Kishi could pull. From some translations from the new extender trailer for "The Last", it refers to the movie as showing whats happens in the "gap" or "blank" period. Leading myself and others to believe that we will get a final epilogue that is even after the events of "The Last" in the actual manga format and Kishi won't leave it to a movie to answer so many questions.

But for hilarity's sake, what if, with all this NH marketing they are doing, the movie is exactly that. In the movie we see Naruto slowly fall in love with Hinata and forsake the years of selfless love and development for Sakura and fall for Hinata. And at the end of the movie, we see Hinata being woken up from the IT. The movie, describing the "blank" period, doesn't refer to any actual timeline but the dream Hinata concocted in her own mind while sleeping in IT. The reason the red scarf rips (the red string of fate), as we see in the trailer, is because subconsciously she knows that it isn't what is truly destined for either of them. She subconsciously invents a villain after Hyuuga's and has him kidnap her little sister, which is the only way that the village would allow her to embark on such a high rank dangerous mission with the elite (Naruto, Lee, Shikamaru and Sakura). In this dream, Sakura is compliant and supportive of Hinata's feelings for Naruto, and even helps her pick out the scarf for him, subconsciously indicating that Hinata would need Sakura out of the way but at the same time that the only one who could pick out the scarf for naruto, as it symbolizes the red thread of fate, is Sakura, who she knows is Naruto's real fate.

Completely mad but made me laugh.

Sakura doesn't have to get with Sasuke to make NaruHina canon, so they wouldn't need any development for them anyway.

Exactly. There is no point advertising the movie about LOVE, show is Hinata's tragic love for Naruto... only for Hinata to be rejected.

But do we need more history on Kaguya? Does the fandom care? It all sounds like a plot to give Hinata relevance.

I doubt it's "false advertising". Studio Perriot love Hinata, they aren't going to rip the hearts out of every NH shipper by showing them trailers about the real Hinata's love for Naruto... Only for her to be sidelined.

People always bring up RtN. No, RtN only showed fake Hinata. Naruto ending up with Tsukiyomi!Hinata would only prove he hates the real deal.

I read that writer's thoughts on this and how he said this movie might serve the purpose of Hinata moving on because it couldn't fit in the manga. Sorry, but I don't buy that. Delaying closure sounds like tragic shoujo tale, not the happy-ending shonen story that this series is about. =\

Hm. Yep, NH movie would be logical if Naruto weren't in love with Sakura for the whole time in manga.

If Kishimoto chooses NH, what will be of NS and Sakura (as Naruto's love interest)? How will he resolve that? NS>>>>NH when it comes to the content of his original story. Sacrificing NS seems an unreasonable decision. What is the purpose of all those NS scenes then? Don't you think that is a little bit too much of a diversion for the endgame NH?

Exactly. What is your point?

At the risk of sounding patronising, the point is, the movie story is about Hinata. That's why we're getting retconned childhood flashbacks about her and Naruto together, and that's why her sister was kidnapped.

We're not seeing a lot of her because Kishimoto intended we do so, so there's no point downplaying her role as a coincidence.

Naruhina suffers from poor development, but at least one of the characters hasn't tried to personally kill the other twice, drop her into a vat of lava the other time, and mock her feelings as a stupid fantasy.
