It's desperation. Remember kishi knows he has lost most of his fan base because he destroyed the story for the end pairings. But the problem is he can't just say kitten it and not put any effort into this gaiden. Since we know how important Naruto's sales are to several companies because it was their biggest seller for years. They also believe that Naruto had international appeal that one piece just doesn't have. Which is probably one of the reason kishi is given a chance to make this gaiden and the movie because they hope he has some sort magic touch that will draw in the fans and make them a lot of money that SP and editors said The Last would bring them if they made nH canon. But like i said even by this point he knows he lost his fans because of the ending but to prevent from losing his job, and being able to continue working he needs to show that he can still draw in the fans. But the story was destroyed for the pairings so he has to make the plot pairings related. It can't be about nH or Bolt because the nH fans showed how much they support the series when they were given what they always wanted. So it had to be about SS and it had to be about Sasuke because he one of the most popular characters, and SS is one of the most popular pairings in Japan.

Yes I think he was just doing his job, and that he was stuck. But I also wish he would have done something else... and I still hope for him to wake up one day and witness the mess he's done.

On NF I just saw a terrible possible outcome... Kishimoto could be rewritting Star Wars "The Clone Wars" with Oro making an Uchiha clone army....

I just want to know more than anything how Sakura got so sick. This wasn't the first time she fainted based on Shizune's comments so it's clear she's had this for a while

Do we have any proof of that? Speculation is fine and all but if we've got nothing to back this up then we are going to make mistakes when trying to predict where things go from here.

 

Well this is the result of him not ending up with Sakura. He ended up with someone who doesn't care about anyone except herself, and that quality of hers was passed on to Naruto. Turning him into Scumbag Naruto.

 

Going to have to respectfully disagree. It's a result of Naruto not knowing how to balance his work and home life. He sends a clone to play with his son, while he tries to solve all the problems Shik presents him with and his wife supports him without question, telling her son (I think it was her at least) that Naruto has to look out for the entire village so he can't give his son as much attention as he did before. This was a foreseeable outcome once he married her, since she's incapable of seeing anything Naruto does as wrong. I mean she was going to let him cheat off her exam back in the day. A good wife would alert her husband to the fact that his children need him as much as the village and try to find away to help him make time for them. Hinata, fails to even see that there is a problem. It's not selfishness so much as obliviousness. Sakura could've been better in that role, sadly she apparently imprinted on Sasuke to such a degree that she made decisions that were against her own best intereste.

 

In the end, Naruto is as he began, a well meaning dope that could use a little help to make things right. Sadly he's not getting that help.

Well you are entitled to that, but I think the Gaiden was annouced at the same time the Manga ended so it's unlikely it was created in direct response to fan feedback. I fully agree that his editors could've asked him to write an epilogue, but more and likely they are looking to milk the franchise once Kishi moves on. I mean DBZ's ending didn't prevent the creation of DBGT so you might be seeing something similar here.

Ahh you make me blush. xD Has it been that long? I feel like I've been gone only a couple of days lol. It's nice to see you and the forum still active!!  Guess some good did come out of this gaiden ^^

It really does paint Naruto in a horrible light, doesn't it? I still can't believe this is happening. In 700, Bolt was outright neglected by Naruto, causing him to act out in order to grab his attention. Now in this gaiden, Naruto sends a clone to play with Bolt. Even with the Naruto clone, Shikamaru straight up binds Bolt and tells him to "stop giving the hokage more work to do because he's busy". "Busy". It's a clone ffs. Like you said, they're in times of peace where one of the biggest workloads would have to be the paperwork. Geez, it's not like Naruto holds a responsibility to take care/spend time with his child. No don't be silly.  Where the hell is Hinata in all this by the way? Passive as usual I guess.
 
Anyways, I completely agree. Especially with the clone vs. real body argument. I really don't know why the real Naruto wouldn't spend time with his son. He has the resources to do so. There's no excuses. Absolutely none. Similar to how Sasuke, who has a confirmed cellphone as well access to messenger hawks, has no excuse as to why he couldn't call his family over the past, you know, 12 years (assuming that he does know Sarada exists, of course).

Even a bad story can be useful even if only as a cautionary tale of what NOT to do. Daikatana is a prime example of what not to do for video games.

Maybe, but since Kishi is not really known for planning things out before hand in general I really can't say with any confidance that this is a direct response to fan feedback. I mean the man knew he wanted to end the series with a clash between Naruo and Sasuke....but since he didn't know where or the hero/villain scale he wanted Sasuke to fall we get a lot of the inconsistant writing that plagued the series.

Is there a literal translation for Shizune's line? Because mangareader says "She always did faint quite frequently" and mangastream says "Ever since she was a kid, she always had a penchant for passing out" (which is completely false lol)
 
She's probably fainting due to the stress of being a single mom. It honestly looks like she's been outcasted by the village or something. She's on edge about her "marriage", mentally unstable as well financially unstable AND to top it all off (now) homeless....

Sasuke's fickle attitude and inconsistent storyline is one of the things that mad me drop the series during the war arc

I feel the same. It's sickening how much Kishi has destroyed her. All of that potential and development, gone. Just imagine how much happier she would have been if she ended up with Naruto
