I've seen that somewhere before. Still I question where Karin and the rest of Taka are. Did they just give up on Sasuke and his angst after the war? No, I can't believe that. Karin's desire was to be with Sasuke throughout his journey and Juugo had sworn to protect him as the legacy of his old friend, Kimimaro. Neither of them would have left willingly.

You know, just thinking, after reading that article about Japanese gender stereotypes, I wonder if Sasuke isn't meant to be some kind of salaryman stereotype, working and away from the house for 60-70 hours a week, while the wife is at home with the kids.

 

I swear I really think Kishimoto changed from a young man with young ideals in the beginning of the manga — when Naruto and Sakura are underdog characters who are bucking the establishment, the clans and traditional stuff — until the ending, when Kishimoto's is 20 years older, has a family and much more adult views of life — so Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke completely do an about-face and embrace more conservative and traditional roles, and ultimately don't change life in Konoha at all. Peace occurs and life is modern, but for the three, they have fallen back into the life that was prescribed for them.
