You know, at first I thought the animation for the last was pretty good( compared to the usual animation, but that's not saying much), however after looking at gifs from the Chikara arc, I gotta say, I like that style better.

Was anyone actually expecting those countries to become the world-beaters of monetary gain for TL though? Our focus should centred towards the audience turnout in countries that have a greater population with a Naruto following like The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the US. 

I live in Singapore. Yes, we're not that big (~5 mil), but we believe that our nation is one of the countries in APAC that can be used as a reliable measurements to see how much muscle an entertainment media has to promote itself (thereby, telling us that it has enough budget to come over, which tallies with how much money it garners in their homeland).

Almost all successful entertainment media in APAC will come over. There's a cinema which commonly show drama, action, animes, etc from around the region (APAC). It shows they have the muscle.

We don't have much cinemas airing animes --commonly only Cathay Cineplex, it's literally only one theater for most of the cases, although if the media has enough power, it can be shown to many cinemas (like recent doraemon movie). Take for instant the recent Doraemon movie or Metantei Conan movie, which made about $80 mil and $36 mil respectively.

When RTN was shown here in Singapore, I was actually surprised. I thought the movie only made about $17 mil, but then the recent rumors that the production cost was ~$4 mil, then it made sense. It has probably exceed its own expectation and has the muscle to come over. I'd categorize it as success in terms of money invested vs money earned.

The animation in The Last is pretty good, though I do think it's hard on lighting. Every place must have lighting. It's like how NC make fun of Steven Spielberg for being spotlight whore. Anyway, my mixed feeling is the art. As you can see, the art is hit and miss, depends on how you see it. They look different from anime/manga form. Even that Chikara was still close to original form. Naruto is the one that just seem odd and I don't mean the hair. It must be his head shape, including the whiskers. It looks far apart. In fact, if you look at Kishi's sketch, they look different from movie adaptation. The funny part is if you look back at LadyGT old fanart of The Last, it looks much closer to the original than The Last. I'm not kidding. So that's about it.

What ironic, Clannad a shoujo was very nice anime and did not need a kiss, but Naruto there was kiss and see what is now.

Yeah, I didn't really like the way the eyes were drawn on most of the characters. And Naruto did look different from his sketch, along with Sakura, Sasuke, and Hinata, which is another thing I didn't like about the Last.

 

SP already could not stick to canon material, but now they can't even stick to Kishi's artwork either.
