Mizukage's a good read, though some editing would make it perfect.

I bet I could fix up that first chap quick biggrin.gif

I have never liked Mizukage. I'm sorry, but the premise was absurd and unbelievable (and the manga has proved it beyond all doubt), and I hated the Sakura-bashing.

A Favor by Aly247 has been updated with Chapter 6.

Well the premise was an overboard with the Sakura-hate but that was made up when Naruto and Sakura fought each other off, ending up with Naruto winning before they made up.

Out of curiosiy I sought and perused that scene.

I'm afraid my opinion hasn't changed. That fight-and-apologize chapter didn't make up for the Sakura's earlier mistreatment to my eyes.

Maybe I can't appreciate the story because I'm too burnt by Team 7 bashing fics. I'm sorry.

Way too many so called narusaku fics do the same OOC Sakura. Seriously, a story shouldn't be labeled narusaku if it has her nothing like her character and spends the fic trashing her. When writing Sakura go back and read the manga first, don't write the fannon image of Sakura the worst anti-Sakura fics use.

Look at chapter 5 of the manga- Sakura believes she is endangering her own life but she blows her cover and shouts for Naruto to flee hoping to distract Kakashi so Naruto can get away. When they are attacked in the Wave Country arc Sakura throws herself on top of Naruto to save him. These are in the first two volumes of the manga. We see evidence of subconscious romantic attraction to Naruto as well in those first two volumes. Her regard for Naruto continues to grow subtly over part 1, she's crying over both Naruto and Sasuke and wanting to protect both of them equally in the Forest of Death, etc...

When writing Sakura the goal should be to write her accurately to canon, and if you err any direction- especially if you are writing narusaku fics, it should be to write her slightly more positively than your reading of canon- chances are that slightly more positive reading is closer to canon than you think. Look at the fan reaction to 469 vs what Kishimoto said was how he believed he was her portraying there- "An honest and surprisingly determined girl".

It's also kind of sad when I see writers who actually write Sakura fairly close to canon dismiss their fics as "just fluff" No, when you are writing characters acting close to their canon selves you aren't writing "fluff", you are writing some of the better narusaku fanfics.

More angsty than my preference, but well written and the characters are close to canon. smile.gif

I have found a nice fic. It is a time travel story, but it is pretty original, avoids most of the typical pitfalls of that sort of fics, and it manages capturing my attention and keeping me reading. I think it is worth to check it (and it deserves more reviews):

Mirrored Images by Shizune has been updated with Chapter 10.

I'm not sure what I think of this yet. I like the concept, but I really dislike the Sakura from Evil Konoha and I'm scared about what she's going to do next to wreck things. (I wonder if that Naruto had a goatee.)

I understand your position completely and I share your misgivings at least partially.

We shall see, I guess.

Sometimes it is disappointing when you run into stories with a great concept but awfully poor execution. And it is even more disappointing when it looked like if the author had the skill required to carry it through beautifully... but then he/she makes something utterly sours you on the fic.

I was also annoyed that Team Ten had a method to figure out whether it was Good Sakura or Evil Sakura, but that Ino forgot all about it, despite having been freaked about Sakura just before and so blabbed everything.

The Garden Of Sanctuary series is an amazing read with Garden of Sanctuary, Medusa Javelin, and Empyreal Paradox. This series is currently contending with Medicinal Lullaby for my favorite NaruSaku fic.

Yes, it was annoying.

How I have said, I believe the story and the concept have potential, and the writing style is good. We shall see if that potential becomes fulfilled.

Hush! We talk not about The Garden of Sanctuary series. Its incomplete status brings much lament and grief to our hearts.

I wish Nes Mikel continued the story... I wonder if he lost inspiration or grew tired of it or bored of Naruto (note: I have not)... Oh, man, it was SO good...

Although I don't understand how he thought he could keep his fic in canonicity in spite of all concepts he was making up. Perhaps that is the answer: his story no longer could remain canonical, and he couldn't bring himself to rework the necessary elements or be resigned to it being un-canon.

sad.gif I wish the story would continue too but I'll hold on to it still as one of the greatest narusaku series ever written. Pretty good theory or maybe he just got bored of writing the story, thats why I haven't posted a fanfic yet every time I'm about to I suddenly find a flaw in the story and don't want to rewrite around that and just dump it.

While my immediate reaction to this thread was "Holy kitten they're talking about my fic guess I should stop lurking and say hi!" I suppose I'll step in to offer.. not so much a defense, because you're right in that I also think that it's a weakness, but an explanation. The problem I tend to have while writing is that I have pictures in my head, but I don't have the skill to get them across in writing - it tends to come off as a rushed pacing to other people in most places. My expertise isn't there; it's elsewhere. The reason that particular thing comes off poorly, though, is because that wasn't quite how the fic was supposed to go in my outline.

Namely, I chickened out.

Team ten was originally supposed to all die there in a more open confrontation, and I had a finished version of that and simply couldn't bring myself to post it. Evilish Sakura is SUPPOSED to be a villain, but there's at least some hint of sympathy I try to write about her - she really is supposed to be what Sakura could be with the background I'd had in mind, and I don't think anyone would really deny that Sakura could certainly have a mean streak.

It might just be in my head, but at least part of the reason I'm writing is so that in two or three years, I can go back and see that same picture in my head, you know? I mean, I'd love for it to find an audience, and for other people to enjoy it the way that I've enjoyed the work of others, but I can certainly sympathize with the complaints.

Yeah, while it's definitely well written, after reading chapter 6 I couldn't read any more. I just don't find fics like that something enjoyable to read. I remember a nice time travel fic someone wrote a while back that I liked with a somewhat similar initial concept that last I checked was unfinished (I think it was only a couple of chapters, sadly)- Konoha under seige, Naruto and Sakura both go back in time to the day the team formed and as adults are inhabiting their younger selves bodies.

I remember that, but I'm also failing to come up with the name. I bet it's listed in this thread somewhere.
