Guys, guys, while all this talk about Romantic Context is good.... There's another, IMPORTANT, topic we have yet to discuss...


My god, did you see Inoichi's EYEBROWS?! It looks even thicker than Gai or Rock Lee's!

It can probably warp gravity, jump away from Inoichi's face, and defeat Madara, Tobi, Jubi, Sasuke, and Orochimaru with one, fell swoop! Then, in the end, it'll probably go, "I must go, now... My people need me." Then fly away with his brethren (Gai and Rock Lee's eyebrows) off to space. Oh and it was epic enough to shield the entire base from the Jubi's blast AND somehow heal the Kages despite not being anywhere close enough.

That's the funny thing how many non-NS fans would say that Sakura's hug was romantic though?

Somewhere in this fandom there is a major double standard, and that's what bug me. You're being asked to accept the romantic light of Hinata's hand holding, but if you went and argued the possible romantic light of the NS hug back then it would be dismissed as platonic. And I'm not saying that dismissal was unreasonable but if you make that argument the standard applied to that hug apply here.

There are arguments to say there is some romantic context to both of them or there is no romantic context to either. I have yet to hear why Hinata's scenario is more plausibly romantic. then the Sakura hug.

Yet tons of people wholeheartedly accepted the Hinata hand holding as romantic just by face value. Some of these same people of course were quick to judge the NS hug as platonic.

So what standards of context are people using to decide what does or what does not have romantic context?

I agree, you can't accept one without tacitly accepting the other.

What makes Sakura's romantic is also what makes Hinata's romantic.

And yeah, there is a double standard because people are fans — they want the story to go one way over the other. So they see what they want to see and don't accept the other.

I think they are both romantic and both meant to be seen that way — especially Hinata's part. From the extra development to the fulfilling moment and it's very clear visuals. And then, not only do we see him holding her hand, we are privy to her thoughts.

But what makes Naru/Saku the most likely pairing is because there is sooooooooo much development on their side from the parallels, the foreshadowing — yada, yada, yada — and most importantly the fact that we know Naruto likes Sakura, and always has. He's never veered from that. And the key part of his personality that makes him the hero is that he doesn't sway from his goals. No matter what the obstacle.

So it doesn't matter how many new ships Kishimoto throws in the way, NS is will win out because Naruto never gives up. And a love relationship with Sakura is part of the reward for all his hard work.

Also, I call it a new ship because up until this point I think NH existed in the minds of fans, specifically because of the anime. But now Kishimoto has made it a valid relationship. But he loves NS too, and that's why he defused it in the next chapter. It has the appearance of tension without the real, heart-wrenching friction if Naruto had gone on a date with Hinata and then couldn't decide. It's not that at all. He's just made it look like her love is being returned. And that's why all the development was put forward in the beginning of the war arc.

edit: Also, someone mentioned that Sakura will probably get a bump around her birthday in March — appropriate for cherry blossoms, I might add!

Lol This was an epic chapter, Naruto transferring chakra to the others, the samurai armor picture that hints to Sakura having a moment, etc. Sorry I haven't been on, got tired of all the nh craziness so I just stayed offline and tried this new online game and then got sick, still am sick with a cold. Just turned 22 friday. Glad to see everyone is doing okay.

Maybe after learning the truth, they will. It depends on Sasuke. If Sasuke does it, then no doubt, he's a villain that everyone can't no longer welcome him to Konoha at all.

They will probably not senselessly massacre people. Unless you're Juugo or Orochimaru, they're a bit..

The only possible scenario for them to do so, is if they try to kill the elders. If they are the ones that knows everything, I do not think they'll speak on free will. We don't know how they can resist interragation genjutsu though, but I will assume they are on level with Danzo. If the remaining Konoha ninjas defend them, they are most likely chuunin and not too powerful, It may turn into a bloodbath. But before they kill them, I want to know everything, because if someone does, I want to know as well. :3

Edit: If Sasuke kills one of Naruto's comrades, he may change his resolve on changing him. I'm not saying he'll give up on him, but he still believes this Sasuke is still the Sasuke, as he stated in the Kage summit.

Yeah, I do think that if Sasuke kills one of the people of Konoha, or attempts to destroy it, Naruto may change and have to put him down. But, maybe Sasuke will change a bit after being in Konoha, think about the good times and maybe it'll warm his cold heart a bit.

I was thinking of the scroll that Suigetsu and Juugo found in Orochimaru's hideout and the scroll that has Sasuke in it from the spread cover.

Yeah, I was imagining that we'll see Sasuke walking by a place where he remembers Naruto, Sakura and him once hanging out there or something.

Yes, I was looking at the eyebrows the whole chapter, trying to recall if he had drawn his eyebrows so big before or if they were that big (and dark) in the anime. I assume that they were mostly hidden by his headband.... imagine if Ino inherited those things.

Hugs and hand holding can be romantic or platonic. So can kissing really (between kissing on the cheeks or lips, or if the lip kissing is just a normal greeting). The difference I feel is what the characters are feeling in that moment, the reaction/attitudes of the characters toward each other, and the reaction of the people around them if there are any.

Sakura's Hug
1. No, Sakura was not blushing, but right after punching him in the head, she holds him with a..... well, I can't even describe her expression. It was deeply touched and caring/relieved.
2. If I recall correctly, we saw Naruto's face blush a little right?
- To Sum up #1 and #2: Both characters appear to have actual feeling invested in their contact. Naruto's is obviously romantic if he was blushing. It was more than just a quick hug from Sakura, her face said it all. She was the only one that walked up to him that way and hugged him.
3. Most importantly, everyone around them set the mood. From child to adult, all of them were quiet and blushing at the scene. Not really a surprised "WTH are they doing?! O_O" blush, but a very subtle, "Aw, ain't that a sweet couple c8" expression. (I think some of the kids were surprised though)

In the end, I can easily judge this romantic from both sides. From Naruto's side, 100%. From Sakura side, we can't be sure, but I'd say 75%-80% whether she actually realized it or not. It was not a platonic moment, crowds do not blush at the sight of siblings hugging. If the blushing was not there and all that remained was the "Aw, ain't that sweet c8" expression, then I see that argument as more legitimate.

Hypotheticals do not work in this situation. All the stuff I described was there, in panel. No thought bubbles needed, no speech needed, no verification needed, no guess work included.

Hinata's Hand and Face Holding
1. Hinata was not blushing. One could say because of the situation, she should not have blushed, her cousin JUST died. Even without the blushing, her later comment "Naruto's hand, I feel so safe" comment obviously reveals she feels something romantic about holding his hand, no matter how wrong it is to think so. I'd also like to mention, amazingly, throughout her speech, she never mentions her love, if she were so low, it wouldn't have been hard to throw them in there as a mention.
2. Naruto was not blushing. His face mostly looked shocked, thoughtful. Even as he reached up, removed her hand, and held it to transfer chakra he did not blush or change his expression at all other than pure determination. He did not look her way either, completely concentrated on the Juubi and Obito as he thanks her. (Something Naruto would have done if anyone slapped him like that, and I don't mean slap him out of genjutsu, slap him out of literally falling to pieces as a person apparently)
- To sum up #1 and #2: No doubt when Naruto took Hinata's hand, she began to heavily heartfart on the inside for him. We do not see that from Naruto, all we see is his determination to fight the Juubi and to 'never let go of Neji's metaphorical hand'. There is basically no interaction from them again thus far, but I estimate Naruto's breakdown to the current only took about 10 or so minutes in their time.
3. The crowd around them showed no romantic implications whatsoever except Sakura's. I might need to reread again, but Sakura looked the most shocked out of everyone for some reason. Is it because, since she knows Hinata loves Naruto, she saw Hinata's actions as romantic? High possibility. I don't think anyone can agree that at that moment, Naruto was looking into Hinata's eyes all lovey dovey, returning her romantic undertones. The crowd does not support the idea that that moment is 2 sided. It is even less likely they'll see it as romantic since Naruto is not going around smacking hands, but he is holding others hands too.

In the end, I just cannot agree with some fans that this moment is anywhere near the romantic high Sakura's hug was. I won't deny the hand holding had romantic tones, it's obvious Hinata thinks so, but I cannot accept that Naruto thinks the same, especially with his behavior in the most recent chapter to cement my thoughts.

Both moments are romantic, but the question is for who? For the NS hug, we can easily say it was romantic for both of them, as well as everyone watching them. As for the face cradling and hand holding, I think only Hinata was feeling the love vibes or even had the mindset to think about romance while facing the Juubi who just killed your cousin laying on the floor at your feet right in front of you.

It may be the elders. I think we know waaay too little about them. They need to be explored, who are they exactly? What's their story? Danzo and Hiruzen has been in the spotlight, and they are nothing more than "the elders".
It may also be the previous hokages. You know, it may make sense that you can revive people sealed in the Death God - if you know the handseals/jutsu yourself. I apply the same logic here as when Madara freed himself from Edo tensei. I really wanto to see some dead people. :3!! Don't kill me if I'm wrong, but I think Minato is the one that created that jutsu, I don't know how Orochimaru could know it. Then again, the second Hokage created Edo tensei, and Madara knows it.

^Haha, when I wrote my previous post, I immediately thought of Konohamaru. +all the mothers of Konoha. I don't think Kishi is that much of a sexist to leave all at home, but I remember those fillers. :3

I'm sorry but i have to correct this, everyone was wavering when people said that Neji died, if they saw the "Handholding" they could see Neji dying as well and would not have the necessity of someome saying that Neji died, Neji's death put everyone in shock, Sakura was wavering, Kakashi thought about Obito, Lee wavering, the army looking at all those deaths.

The handholding was romantic but the romance implications comes from Hinata, Naruto just hold her hand to transfer chakra and the fact that his mind was talking with Kurama just did the things worse.

Naruto is a guy that does not have problems on touching someome else, Naruto is not a common Japanese guy, he's more like a foreigner for me someome that 99% of the japanese people wanted to be but cannot, an outgoing guy, not shy and that is always happy, touching someome is not a something particular or special for him.

You can compare the holdhanding with a scene were Sakura hugs Sasuke.

about the edo tensei , I thought that the second hokage made that jutsu o.o ? and orochimaru perfected it? Minato made the reaper death seal . I wish naruto would learn itttt.
