Hence why I'm much less harsh. Sometimes, people really takes after Naruto to bring their outlook on the wrong people.Usopp's being a coward is more like comic relief than something to be taken seriously.

Usopp being a coward is his comedic trait, just like how Zoro's comedic trait is always finding a way to get lost.
When it comes down to it though, Usopp can be counted on.

Kinda hard not to take it seriously when he trains for two years in order to support Luffy, then at the first sign of trouble turns his back on Luffy at the drop of a hat (sugar). Nami's cowardice is a comedic trait, it's funny, but when it comes down to it, she stands and fight. Ussops isn't a comedic trait. Sometimes it's funny, he's, but his is a character flaw.Usopp's being a coward is more like comic relief than something to be taken seriously.
He swore that he was going to support Luffy, then abandons him and everyone that was counting on him.

But with Naruto, yes I know, if you look at my thread up on general discussion, cheap plug I know, I said that they always leave a bad impression, the weak go strong mind you. Sakura felt strong in 662. After that, helpless and weak. Usopp, go his comedy routine, then when it gets serious, it slowly transform it to his cool moment. Thus, all is forgiven. You could argue he's rinse and repeat, but better than jobbing bad.

All this Usopp hate is getting out of hand. Usopp never lets fear get in his way of taking down an enemy that Luffy entrust for him to defeat.
The man was even willing to die if it meant Luffy could keep moving forward (toward Dolfamingo). He didn't even care if Luffy ever knew about his sacrifice. Usopp has shown the 3rd highest amount of loyalty to Luffy on the crew, right behind Zoro and Sanji. I would say Robin would be tied with Usopp, but when she was sacrificing herself, she wanted to die anyway.
Not to mention, the guy with all this fear inside of him, was willing to venture out onto the deadly New World, if it meant he could help Luffy achieve his goals. While he may always remain the weakest Straw Hat, he'll always be there for comic relief, and to push Luffy forward.
Name one time he didn't get the job done for Luffy outside of the time Sanji had to take over for him because he couldn't beat Jyabura.
Even as a huge coward, he's able to have pinpoint accuracy. Something an unsteady heartbeat should cancel out. He's just an average guy, and already with only 3-4 years at sea, he has got haki without trying to get it.
Without Usopp, Luffy doesn't gain his fleet. What Usopp did was so meaningful, that it earned him a 200 million berry bounty. If the government found out that after freeing everyone, they all joined Luffy. I wouldn't be surprised if his bounty would of been 250-300 million instead, just for being the reason behind Luffy creating such a powerful army.

Why is it that fair criticism of Usopp is labeled "hate that is getting out of hand"?All this Usopp hate is getting out of hand. Usopp never lets fear get in his way of taking down an enemy that Luffy entrust for him to defeat.

That line about Usopp being the third most loyal member of the crew is absolute trash and you know it. Please tell me one other crew member that decided to abandon the crew because a selfish desire to hang on to a ship that he knew was on its last legs, if only because they got the ship from some girl that he loved. There was nobody that showed Luffy that level of disrespect, ever. I love how you had to subtly knock Robin to praise Usopp, and in the end you were wrong about that too. She was ready to die for Luffy and the others, so they could be safe. She didn't want to live if it could cause them harm. It was a bit misguided, but she was under a huge amount of duress, obviously.
Of the crew, Usopp is the one that is the most disloyal, Zoro went so far to note that he quit the crew and abandoned them on a whim. Who gives a damn that he went to the New World with them, everyone else went with Luffy too. It isn't that special where it's worthy of praise, considering he didn't do anything that anyone else didn't.
You're bringing up a bunch a things that have nothing to do with his problems at hand. What does him having been haki have to do with him bailing out on his crew time and time again?
The bottom line is that Usopp swore to be become better to support Luffy, yet at the very first sign of danger, he reneged on that promise and abandoned his crew, again.
I feel like I've said this multiple times, but just because someone criticizes a character that you like doesn't mean that were hating on him. There is a very clear distinction between hate and criticism, and no one here has yet to start hating. Why even bother having discussions in this thread if we're going to be accused of hating for having opinions contrary to yours?

This is a debate. You're stating how he's a character filled with flaws, and I'm saying they aren't flaws. Kinda hard to take it as criticism when Nami hides behind people all the time, and you call it funny. And when Usopp does it, you call him a coward that's running.
And you never answered my question about when Usopp runs and doesn't get the job done when Luffy needs him to. You said that, but Usopp fights anybody he has to except the big guys that the monster trio has to take care of.
Usopp's fear is somehow a reason for almost every victory he's had. But even through fighting countless enemies stronger than he is, and beating them. He still managed to get haki. I'm bringing this up, because he's defying the odds left and right. One reason why he's a great character, with his flaws being ones made for comic relief.
In fact, Usopp was the one who made Nami's weapon. If he hadn't, would Nami of amounted to anything fighting? She learned weather in the time-skip, because of her weapon. Unless like the rumors say, and the snow-snow fruit Monet had went into one of Nami's oranges, she would of been the weakest Straw Hat.
And yes, Robin wanted to die. She said there were too many enemies, and didn't want Luffy saving her. She wanted the rocks to fall on her head, and die. Yes, she found friends in Luffy's crew, and as a result, sacrificed herself for them. But that feeling of wanting death was still there. She went with CP9 because she thought Luffy was no match for Lucci. She didn't have powerful friends, and so, she still had too many enemies.
It took Luffy running all the way to Enies Lobby, and screaming at Robin while opposing the whole world, for her to say she finally wanted to live. That scene was powerful for many reasons, and Robin finding a will to live because she found a family that had her back no matter what was one of the reasons.
As for the ship, it held weight on everyone. Usopp the greatest, because it was from his village, from his girl. You can't tell me that if Nojiko gave the crew that ship that Nami wouldn't of danced the dance with Luffy using the weapon Usopp gave her. What if Zeff gave the crew his legendary ship, and that was the Merry? Sanji would of fought 2 or 3x more for it. He wouldn't leave, but he would hold a serious grudge that would need chapters to fix.
The truth is, when I say Ussop is 3rd, I'm saying that looking at his matured character, and what he's done for Luffy. I got to put him there. He's an average man, and yet, after leaving the crew, he puts on a mask to push Luffy forward. Usopp does things time and time again for Luffy. Big things. And he doesn't care if Luffy ever knows he gave him a huge push. Zoro and Sanji have done the same. I would say Chopper as well, but he said "tell Luffy to find a new doctor." That's my favorite Chopper moment in the series. Dude went crazy. As for what they did. Zoro with Kuma, and Sanji with Big Mom. Usopp with Enies Lobby, and recently with Dressrosa, where he shot at Sugar for Luffy, even if he got stabbed behind him to launch it.
He knew he would lose to Luffy when they fought, but he had to fight him for what he believed in. If he doesn't do that, he won't be this bravest warrior he dreams of becoming. To be the bravest, you got to be pretty stupid at times. You got to fight 2 executives at the same time instead of running, because you know Luffy needs you to do it. Like it or not, Merry was a nakama. She had a will of her own. They had to leave behind a dying nakama, and Usopp wasn't having it. That's why when Merry said sorry to Luffy, he broke down too. You can't lower Usopp's loyalty for not dropping the body of a dying nakama. He wanted to drag that body (being a ship instead) until it really showed him it died. Stupid? Yes. Loyal to those he loves? Yes.
At the end of the day, everyone has their opinions. Truthfully, I would say all 8 Straw Hats on Luffy's crew are equally loyal to him. They would all do anything for him. They all spent 2 years training to get to where they are today. That's loyal. They are also willing to go to the New World and fight seemingly unstoppable forces one after another for Luffy. Even someone like Brook and Franky that haven't had their selfish moment to shine for Luffy would easily do what Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp have done.
Usopp has also handled about the 4th most amount of threats on the crew. True, that falls in line with him being on the crew the 2nd most (Nami wasn't technically all-in before him), but it adds to his resume, so to speak. He's a coward that gets the job done. Making his flaws only comic relief.

Since when is calling someone a hater, or saying that were doing nothing but hating, or saying that our opinions are just hate a part of debate? Don't compare Nami to Usopp, it isn't even remotely close. Nami is a chicken, not a coward. Which she, and thus Oda, has said already. She acts like a chicken, but when all the chips are down, you know what she doesn't do? She doesn't run and abandon everybody. Only once has it even crossed her mind, and that was against Enel, and she still stood and fought.
I didn't answer it because it is a pointless, irrelevant question that has zero grounds in this debate, much like most of the other pointless dithering your putting forward in order to politic your way around the fact that Usopp routinely abandons his friends. I don't care that he beat some people. I don't care that he made Nami's weapon. I don't care that he got Haki. I don't care that you think he's beaten the odds at every turn (let's stop to mention that everybody in Luffy's crew does that, Usopp isn't special in that regard). I don't care about it because none of that stuff matters in the our discussion. You're trying to say all this stuff to prop up Usopp's character and ignore that the fact is, Usopp's first instinct is always to abandon his friends.
Robin only wanted to die after she found out what was getting ready to come after Luffy and the crew.
And what is this nonsense about "you have to be pretty stupid at times, you have to fight two executives instead of running". Did you miss the fact that ran away first? He left everyone and he knew what he was doing, he even referenced Franky in his "I'm sorry, I have to save my butt instead of helping my friends" speech. And the whole "Luffy needs you to do it" is especially funny, because he always knows that Luffy needs him to do it, and still runs away. "Matured character" my butt, his first instinct is still to run. Everyone matured except for him, which was proven against Sugar.
You literally just destroyed your own argument with that first line, it weighed on everyone greatly, yet Usopp was the only one to throw a damn fit about it. Any other member of the crew would have been upset, but neither of them would have did what Usopp did. Stop glorifying Usopp for creating a huge problem because he couldn't accept the reality of the situation even though he already had knowledge of it. He chose himself over the crew. He is the least loyal of all the crew. Everyone would do anything for Luffy, but Usopp is the only one that routinely turns his back on Luffy and abandons him. It's a character flaw, and it's not comedic.
Bold is irrelevant, wrong, and laughable.

Right, and couldn't even answer the question you made for yourself about him not getting the job done. He gets it done, as simple as that. This whole debate comes from the fact that his cowardliness gets in the way, making it a horrible flaw, or if it is only used for comic relief at least 99% of the time. And to get it out the way, Robin wanted to die in Alabasta. So yeah...Since when is calling someone a hater, or saying that were doing nothing but hating, or saying that our opinions are just hate a part of debate? Don't compare Nami to Usopp, it isn't even remotely close. Nami is a chicken, not a coward. Which she, and thus Oda, has said already. With Robin gone, he had no chance against 2 executives, but he decided to turn back and fight them, because too much was on the line. He was willing to die there, because he stood no chance there. Usopp might run, because it's who he is, a complete coward. But dangit if he won't be influenced to turn back around because he has a family to protect.
I take your approach as bias, because you don't care when Nami screams "Sanji, get Doflamingo. I'm scared, ahhh." On the other hand, you don't like Usopp's flaws because they get in the way, when in reality, you can't even name 1 time his fear got in the way of him getting the job done when he needed to do it himself.
Overall, Nami and Usopp are equal in loyalty. Nami is even stronger than Usopp, and I'm only saying that because Oda said Usopp would always be the weakest. The only problem I have is that you're making baseless accusations about Usopp, a guy who's fear has never let his opponents get away, unless they were monster trio worthy.
He is loyal, because he wouldn't leave a nakama behind, even when everyone was against him. He had an opinion, and a brave warrior stands by his opinion. Especially if it's for a dying friend. You act like Usopp got in a fight with Luffy over nothing. The man, with all this fear, challanged a guy he knew he couldn't beat. He is a coward, but he'll fight anybody for things he loves. He flipped out on Miss Christmas for insulting Luffy's dream. That's because he loves that dream. She wasn't taking the dream away, only joking about it. Remember, he wanted to be the captain, so of course he'll stand by his opinions on a loved one, even if it's just a trip to his grave for him by doing it.

I didn't answer because it is an irrelevant question, one of which you have seeming no problem with reiterating again and again as if it actually matters in this debate. Robin in Alabasta was entirely different than the Robin in Enies Lobby. She wasn't a part of the crew in Alabasta and had nothing. She had no friends, and seemingly no dream. In Enies Lobby, she wanted to save Luffy. Really big difference.
He does a really good job at protecting them when he always leaves them behind ![]()
Lol of course you would take it as bias. The difference between Nami and Usopp is while Nami screams "get Doflamingo. I'm scared, ahhh", she still stands and fights, while Usopp leaves everyone behind in order to save his own skin
Again you bring up the "he gets the job done", like it matters. Him getting the job done literally has nothing to do with him running away.
They are not equal in loyalty. Nami has never caused a massive problem with the crew because of her selfishness, Nami has always stuck around to fight, and she has never left the entire crew hanging when she knew that they were depending on her. She hasn't chosen herself over the crew. Unlike Usopp. If there wasn't any base for my claims, I wouldn't be saying them.
@Bold, lolololololol You mean like he did on Dressrosa?
Most of the rest of the paragraph is irrelevant, the only thing that has anything to do with loyalty is Usopp getting angry at Miss Merry Christmas, but that stuff is cancelled out when he abandons everyone else by running away, which btw, he did during the Miss Merry Christmas fight. He left Chopper to die. Some friend.
Nobody cares about Lameshigi (<------ That, my misguided friend, is hating and the truth, since you seem confused about the difference between hating and fair criticism

He gets the job done, no matter what. Nami on the other head, did not fight Doflamingo. Sanji did, and Nami probably was charmed by it. Expect a SaNami baby soon. ![]()
And I know she wanted to save Luffy in Enies Lobby, but she also had too many enemies in her dream. Remember, she said that in Alabasta, and as soon as a force too great arrived, she accepted death. Those feelings obviously didn't disappear up on the sky with a few days. Suicide is a disgusting subject to consider, and she was ready to do kinda just that on Alabasta... right beside a ponoglyph too. I... I guess you could say she found a will to live in Luffy and threw the rest of those thoughts out at Enies Lobby. Lu... LUFFY X ROBIN!!!

Fun Fact of the day: Usopp was originally going to be the Vice Captain. Robin wasn't going to be in the crew, and Chopper, Brook, and Franky looked disgusting. Like, you don't want to see the picture... it's. It's just bad.
Lastly, you can't have fair criticism with bias misplacing facts. Tashigi is best girl. Not accepting her as best girl is a bias replacing fact. Do that out in the hood, and you could get shot. They take their Tashigi-chan seriously. ![]()

Theres a bit Of Robin Nami too.
No problem with that. I would just ask that Oda show their romance very detailed, on panels, consistently.

I have a feeling that Shanks will be the one telling us that flashback. He was after all the inheritor of the hat.

"If you have the first girl wear it, she will be your wife, Luffy."
But seriously, I do think he has a lot to tell.

Sorry but since Luffy is only borrowing the hat from Shanks, it looks like Shanks x Nami is inevitable.
