Kishi did say the confession was genuine, but I don't remember him saying anything about Naruto's reaction...

Yep, I think there was a thread back in this sub-forum that was something about Sakura being honest about it but it was really mistimed and, imo, kinda did seem like Sakura was really doing a horrible job of selling it. Just another thing, they need to clear up on in their next conversation, whenever that may come.

Umm, I hope you mean "at the dentist".

I'm not sure if there was another interview, but after her confession appeared in the manga, he made a comment in an interview about her being an "honest but surprisingly determined girl". So he didn't really outright say it, but it seems to be the implication, considering how it wouldn't make sense to call her 'honest' if she just outright lied to the hero. But again, I'm not sure if there's other interviews where he's discussed that scene.
Also, what dentist offices have Naruto magazines? The only thing I ever have to read is Highlights for Children and three-year-old copies of Newsweek.

Maybe it was in Japan? (in Japan they might have those at the dentists XD)
And I hope Naruto and Sakura could talk about this (maybe in the 4th war arc)

All right, here it is and I quote
"Naruto would probably show up out of nowhere and Sakura would question on why he is here. Naruto would give his reasons. Sakura would then say its too dangerous and is concern for his well-being. Then, Naruto would say that he's going to be all right and probably be very overconfident and stubborn as he is, which leads Sakura to do what she does best to bring him back to Earth.
Then afterwards, they would have a few more words and eventually after putting up a good fight with words, Sakura would eventually give up and just support and have Naruto's back and both of them would hug it out and we'll see where that will take us. "
Yep, that's what I think that it should go.

About Naruto and Sakura meeting up again, i think it will end up like Anguyen said (don't know about the hug), but when he leaves the camp Sakura remembers what the lover-nin said. So as he is jumping away she does that sweet smile of hers and says "Yeah....he really is a great guy."

If that happens, which I think will, I would go to all the other Naruto forums and read the reactions of NH fans.

Oh man, this. To be honest, this seems exactly like something Kishi would do. Not only would it give a reason for Kishi to introduce that lover-nin in the first place, but it would fit his style somewhat, being subtle yet cyclical (with Sakura's smile). I mean, as much I'd love another love confession, I don't think that sort of thing is Kishi's strongsuit. It just feels awkward to me when he tries to make romance the center-point of the plot amidst heavy action. Though maybe he'll suddenly get better at it, and have Naruto finally confess his feelings right before the Sasuke fight.
Also, if that confession does happen, I wonder how it'll go. I hope it's pretty original, it'd feel random if Naruto suddenly became a romantic. I'm thinking something like:
Naruto: Heh heh, Sakura-chan, the way I feel about you...well...I imagine it's the same way that ramen noodles feel about the broth...or something like that...
Sakura: What the hell are you talking about?
Naruto: Well, what I'm trying to say is...*gulp*...
(looks her straight in the eyes)
Naruto: I love you more than ramen, Sakura-chan!
Sakura: *gasp*
Though I suppose I wouldn't mind a cliche confession either, if Kishi can pull it off alright.

I mean take Sakura's confession, for instance. I know it was a serious moment at that time, but if felt forced and it did not seem like Sakura was herself when she told him that. I would prefer that these confessions would not be so sudden and that they would just said and do what comes naturally with each other.
And as a good reference, I shall take a chapter from Miss Soupy's twelve days of Christmas fic.
Chapter 12. I think this statement says is best
"As the two grinned at each other, they knew once and for all. There had been no romantic final declaration of love, but instead they had eased into it like they had anything else they did."
So yes, I, too, would not prefer a cliche confession.
Btw, if what I said does not make sense, then you can disregard that then.

This ends with a goodbye and heads to the main confrontation. with some tearful recollections on the part of the parties involved.
The final acknowledgment usually comes at the end and not always in a direct way, sometimes it can come round about--such as the ramen analogy used above-- and sometimes it can come straight out--kiss and hug etc--and be direct.
As soupy has said earlier and I do agree, the main thing that needs to occur will be the two of them confronting each other directly without the benefit of third party involvement.

Though, if Kishi knew that Sasusaku is the most popular het pairing in Japan, wouldn't he, I don't know, just try to actually build up better interactions between them and just make them canon already, like around the eariler chapters?
I don't think Kishi is making a pairing canon just because of popular reaction. He's got the final canon pairing already locked up since the start of this. It may be narusaku or it may be not, but I'm certain that the people's influence has nothing to do with his decision.

Which marks this question, if by any chance, sasusaku is canon, would Sakura be happy about it? I mean her 12-year-old self would, by at 16 and seeing a lot of things take their place, she has to, at this point, see things differently. I mean, does she still envision a happy team 7 ending? Yes. Does she envision her being in a relationship and have a family with Sasuke? There's a high percent chance that its not the case.
