I don't think Obito died, clearly he looked alive even when the Rinne Tensei was used. The one who died during it was clearly Black Zetsu.

If anything I would assume that even with the current fight with Madara going after the tailed beasts, It most likely that Kishi wouldn't embroil an entire year again for one long fight against Madara.

Obito as the ten tails jinchurki was the strongest enemy the series in terms if power. Madara isn't as strong as jubbito even going with his uchiha, senju, sharingan, rinnegan, and sage powers but given that all the tailed beasts were freed and they already struggled against obito, I don't think Kishi and his team are going to in a nutshell make Madara gain mind control on all 7 tailed beasts no problem and then just shove them back together again into he tree. I'd really feel sorry if that happened and then the allaince had to yank them out again. If anything I'd really just expect this to be the big widespread destruction fight which simply ends with naruto and friends killing Madara, something tells me it's going to be Sasuke who kills Madara.

Just look at the setup from 2012:
Main setup was 3 battles, throughout the year, ended with the allaince coming to help naruto and the rest

This year:
A flashback of hashirama and Madara. The fight against the ten tails, team 7 reunites as with the edo hokage arrive. The fights were against the ten tails itself, obito takes control of the jubbi, he is mindless for a few weeks, then he gains control of it, then naruto and sasukes take him out. This coming year, I would not be suprised if it only goes until Apirl or march at the earliest, with the ending starting with this fight and naruto vs Sasuke remaining after this, I'm wondering wha else will go up in the coming fight against Madara.

Meh, the manga is so predictable at this point, I don't even think I'll be surprised if Shukaku is resealed in Gaara and Kakashi gains the Rinnegan from Obito. Simply because Obito is not the kind of guy to keel over to someone like Madara just like that.
