I guess Goku is just awful sure he has moments but overall he's a bad dad and it's saying something when piccolo and vegeta two former villains are better Dads then the main hero, something tfs hammers home with piccolo being a better dad to Gohan than goku.
But see that is my thing...no matter how Goku is...Naruto is WORSE.
At least Goku tried to be a good dad in Cell Arc and pushed his son to be better and not let him give up. Even with the fridge horror that Piccolo lays upon him that his son might not be into fighting as he was.
Meanwhile, Naruto completely ignores Bolt and the only attention he does give him is often scolding and belittling.
Goku: "Son, you have be strong for me because I won't always be around. You have more strength than you know."
Naruto: "Quit being a little kitten and man up."
That's the difference and while Goku never really had a father persay, he still had plenty of mentors and people he looked up to to teach him more about life. Naruto uses this an excuse to be a bad father. "Well, I had no dad, so what do you expect from me?" Yeah, but you had Iruka, Jiraiya, and several other older male figures that could have taught you a thing or two.
Rock Lee didn't have a dad and Gai taught him EVERYTHING and look how good he turned out.
There is just no excuse for Naruto while I could make an argument for Goku in sme what of a case

So could I! And with Goku, he had to learn as he went not just from his mentors but on his own about love, marriage, being a family man and so much else. Plus when he got chewed out at times, like when Piccolo chewed him out in the Cell Games arc, Goku realized his mistake and also was willing to sacrifice himself to make up for how his actions led Gohan to get too cocky about wanting to make Cell suffer after he killed 16 and it caused Gohan to go Super Saiyan 2 when he had a chance to kill Cell and end it all.
Plus we saw too how Goku was shocked but also happy to meet Goten when he came back from Other World in the Buu Saga during the World Tournament, even with Goten and Trunks being hard on him because he couldn't save Gohan and Vegeta due to Vegeta knocking him out before he could do anything, but still showing them Super Saiyan 3 which led them to use it when they fused into Gotenks.
And we also see how even with some anime-only stuff that Goku's family means a lot to him, like in a dream he had in the Android and Cell Sagas when he was recovering from the heart virus after taking the cure and dreamed of 17 and 18 finding him, killing Gohan, Krillin, Chichi, and Future Trunks too.
Meanwhile, you don't see that kind of feeling with Naruto. As you said, there's no excuse for the bull**** he's used to excuse himself from being a father and a husband. But then again, when you're only still with your wife because of your kids as well as pity, and not out of love or anything, and when your kids cost you the dream you'd spent your whole life trying to achieve due to a temper tantrum, you'd wanna avoid them, or try to just have yourself act busy to avoid them because they cost you so much and left you a miserable shell of who you used to be.
It just shows the differences with Akira Toriyama and Masashi Kishimoto, considering even if both were embarrassed to do romance, one did it so much better than the other.

Actually, the bigger difference is Akira Toriyama, while had editors on the back of his neck, managed to at least talk to his editors. Masashi Kishimoto, however, just acting like a follower without having a piece to say or even fought back.

yes he did and Kairi could beat hinata given how she plays that I hear you can juggle xehanortNomura messed up Kairi in KH3 but he fully redeemed her Character in Kingdom Hearts ReMind.
Oh totally Naruto is the worst and why I hate him if anything he should be like huges from fma with his family and you would think how that he had a family after never finding one he'd want to be with them but no his job and Sasuke are more important. No kidding, right??? The anime ALWAYS did that with Hinata and Sakura, and even when you compare Kishimoto's sketches for The Last, Sakura was made prettier while Hinata was still very humble, and MEANWHILE.... Studio Pierrot flips the script because of their pettiness!!

Ironic since, according to him, he tried drawing Sakura the prettiest in the manga and they still hated her for some reason.

Yeah, pretty much, and I like to think too that he did it because of pressure from Studio Pierrot as well, given their many staffers' bias for Hinata and their obvious hate for Sakura. And that in turn didn't make things better, but only made things WORSE.

And that is where Kishimoto failed. He was trying so hard to make his characters popular that he failed to realize that just by focusing on making them human with development would have made them popular.
Essentially...he tried too hard and he failed.

You know this is my take, but Id rather Sakura go through a state of ptsd after Sasuke tried to kill her in the 5 Kage summit.
Narratively it would make sense because like Naruto, she wanted to try Sasuke and that moment shouldve left her questioning herself about what shes been doing. You know give her a reality check which I think wouldve been a good push for her character.
The only problem with that that I can see is that entire Iron Country ordeal was being framed as a reality check for Sakura already... And then Kishi decided to keep her head in the clouds.

Honestly, I wonder how many guys on this forum have ever experienced being truly in love with a girl only to have that girl want to be with a guy that treats her awful?
I know some girls will say "well, just because a guy is nice does not mean we owe them anything" and this is true, but here is the thing....IT GOES BOTH WAYS. Just because you are nice to a guy and offer your deepest affection does not mean he owes you anything, but apparently they don't understand this.
Kishimoto said it himself: "Sasuke deals with it by not being home."
Keep reading the interviews and you realize that everything he did...from SS and NH, to pushing Hinata to the forefront, to so much more. He did because he was told that that is what the fandom wanted. That is what was popular and look now...

I also think when Sarada asked Sakura if she and Sasuke were really married, she was mad about the idea too that her supposed daughter (sure she raised her, but she isn't Sarada's mom, no matter what's said, Karin is since she has the umbilical cord AND DNA tests can be pretty damn accurate) had the gall to do that and just doesn't like to be reminded she didn't really "win" Sasuke, just like how she lost Naruto just because she didn't think deep down (if you ask me) she "deserved" him for hurting him. SO WHAT?!!
