Right. Of course The Last is going to outsell RtN. Even the title was meant to generate nostalgia and drive people to the theatres, when in reality IT WASN'T THE LAST NARUTO MOVIE!!!

 

But RtN is equally popular based on it's own momentum, and the money of genuine fans who came to see it because they liked Naruto. Not because of the hype around the movie. 

 

If you compare the two movies, side by side, based on the amount of money spent marketing it vs. the amount of money that it brought it, then RtN comes out far and away on top.

Precisely  The misleading title , no refunds policy  etc all of that played its purpose  and is the reason why we have this backlash from the fans  not to mention  how many fans in YJP  the review site and twitter  said that RTN for them is  "The Last "  Naruto Movie I think that speaks for itself . 

 

The thing with RTN is people liked the themes the message it convey  like family bonds and bonds in general  and their importance  that's why RTN was loved  the story had a meaning and it was true to the Naruto franchise its theme .  

 

"The Last "  it goes completely against it  and its only about Shoujo Romance  Hinata Otaku wank fest  bonds are ruined , themes  retconed , Characters made  OOC and Destroyed   it ruined the whole story and its purpose its theme all for the sake of a irrelevant side character who had no purpose in the original plot aside from being an Opai character  .  So no wonder fans are pissed as hell and don't acknowledge this kitten .

Yes but  we can have definitive number of that as we need a list of all the people that wanted refund  and I doubt they will give us an info like that from SP  so far we know that the number is large .

 

I rather not bc I've seen that from them before that's why I said it  , and I don't want to bother with that honestly .

Lol, ofc The Last makes more money than RTN. 

Its the last Naruto movie after all (with Naruto as a protagonist). Advertising for this piece of kitten was at least TWICE as big as it has been for RTN.

 

Still does not change the fact that NTL is the worst rated Naruto movie out of all. 

It caused so many people to rage, demand refunds (wich had been refused!), brought Naruto the glorious Title "worst scumbag" and made Hinata the most hated character among not braindead Naruto Fans.

 

Maybe it was a financial success. Maybe. Nobody knows the production/advertising costs. 

But for the franchise itself, this movie was a total disaster. And there is absolutely nothing what could change that ...

Consult the vocal source, AnimeGirl, for your answer. They brought the statistics forward and I'm curious to see if there's any validity behind them. There's a definite possibility that it already has surpassed RtN even when factoring the decreased value of the Yen.
