This was a great chapter, more questions answered, and yet more questions revealed! I really like how Luffy didn't act like an idiot when it came to reading Sanjis note. This only validates that Luffy isn't as dumb as people think he is when it comes to relationships. He clearly knows what marriage means and I got excited when he said that they would get another crew member when Sanji brings his bride, foreshadowing much?

I also got to give Zorro a slow clap for bringing everyone back to reality when it comes to the circumstances their facing. It's like have you guys forgotten what we've been stirring up? Also Oda is giving everyone a partner. I mean my nerdy heart fluttered when I saw hearts in choppers eyes when he caught a glimpse of that sexy little doe. It's like heres someone for you Chopper, Navigator has her Captain, Sanjis getting hitched, and Zoro is on his way to his waifu Tashigi.

Anyhow enough of my shipping dreams. Now with all of the theories out there about the identity of Sanjis bride I'm going to have to go with the Bonney theory. For me the biggest hint was what Bonneys ship looks like, it's literally a mini version of Big Moms. You then add their same lips, that hair color, the excessive eating, and possibilities of her being big Mom daughter grows.

Plus it's odd that she no longer has a crew and that Akainu let her go. It's clear that she's been in hiding and who better than to hide from than her own mother. I like the idea of Bonney joining the crew instead of Jimbei, I do like him as a character, but I just can't see him with the Straw Hats. Besides the crew needs another woman, it would be nice to see how Robin and Nami treat another lady in the crew.

I can see Bonney as Sanji's bride. From a political perspective, it would be a powerful one for sure. You have a pirate captain lumped in the same reputation as Luffy's, and the guy she happens to be marrying is the pretty much the third-in-command of Luffy's crew.

Considering what little we see of Bonney's personality, who knows? Maybe she'll flat out and say that Nami should just bang her captain already. Robin's is a bit more indirect and kinder, so Bonney's franker personality balances it out. But I doubt she will join since she still has her crew.

Besides, one role that hasn't been fulfilled in the crew is a strategist. Robin, Zoro and Sanji have been fulfilling those roles, but with Luffy gaining a Grand Fleet of over 5000 men, they're going to need someone who can coordinate them all in a full-scale battle like the Marineford war eventually. One main requirement for the guy is to be able to adapt to Luffy's unpredictability. The 3 above have been fulfilling the role, but it's not their specialty, so to speak.

Let's also remember Bonney has a thing for chefs. Wasn't her entire crew cooks or something? No, I'm not saying Bonney will fall in love with Sanji. I'm just saying she'll need a cook, so seeing Luffy has the best one, that will encourage her to join even more.

 

Edit: oh... and apparently a nickname given to Bonney when we first saw her was "Big Eater..." Big Mom... Big Eater. Hmmm, is there a comparison there?

Ah we're just having fun. No worries. Unless Oda gets another interview and say, "This is where I put romance into full force. You fans can start debating on who will love who, because this is a turning point of relationship and nothing will change that," but that would be funny.

Luffy doesn't know what rejection even means. He'll be a free man until he's the pirate king, and he chooses to settle down with a woman. Honestly, I doubt he'll want one when he's pirate king anyway.

I've never seen One piece ships ever get to the unhealthy level that was Naruto ships, especially here. Everyone here is very respectful of each other, everything said is all in good fun, we all love to push each others buttons. One piece ships are far more better than Naruto's because Oda knows how to properly create likeable characters with well rounded backstory and development. It's because of this that I don't dislike any actual ships in One Piece. For example I wouldn't mind who Nami ends up with at all because most of the guys that she's paired with are great, I have no problem with them.

At the same time I do not dislike Boa Hancock, on the contrary I actually do like her because unlike Hinata she has showed how much she cares for Luffy and she has helped him many times already. She's just not a gorgeous face that does nothing, no, she's incredibly powerful and she has made it very clear that she will do anything for Luffy. If he ends up with her I wouldn't mind one bit.

So yeah just a lot of playful back and forth here. If I were you I certainly wouldn't worry about a shipping war like the kitten that was Naruto. I shudder just thinking about how bad it got and how bad it still is.
