Hey guys. I know this is completely random but since I stumbled upon a website I laughed so hard I thought I would share. Especially since our favorite NaruSaku is used....well kind of.

A Japanese in this site is studying faces and is using characters to explain how Japanese are bad looking compared to the Westerners.

The male character representative is Light Yagami from Death Note.

3lk1MWv.jpg

The one on top is original Light Yagami. He is good looking since he has Western features. Eyes-hollow, Mouth-hollow, Chin-sticking out.

The bottom one is if Light Yagami was more Japanese looking. Eyes-sticking out, Mouth-sticking out, Chin-hollow. Doesn't look so good.

Now the below right side are the original good looking characters. The left side are if these good looking characters had Japanese features.

 CsCIX5Is.jpg

Good looking version has the distance of eyes and brows are close, the nose are thin and high, lips are thin.

Where as the left side (if these characters were Japanese) has distance between eyes and brow, big low nose, thick lips.

The female character representative is Sakura Haruno. The right side is the original version(good looking version) and the left side is if Sakura was Japanese looking.

Pd7ZgMbs.jpg

The Japanese looking version has a small forehead, eyelashes that are looking down, eyes positioned higher, big nose and lips sticking out. It is definitely not good looking.

Whereas if you see the original it has western features with a larger forehead, eyelashes pointing up, small but tall nose, lips are thin and not sticking out. It also shows to be good looking.

Sorry, if I offended any of you (I'm Japanese myself and I wasn't offended at all. I agreed at many parts actually). I just had a good laugh and wanted to share.

First of all you double posted edit please. Second I'll bring the usage explanation from wikipedia:

Although honorifics are not part of the basic grammar of the Japanese language, they are a fundamental part of the sociolinguistics of Japanese, and proper use is essential to proficient and appropriate speech. Significantly, referring to oneself using an honorific, or dropping an honorific when it is required is a serious faux pas, in either case coming across as clumsy or arrogant.

An honorific is generally used when referring to the person one is talking to (one's interlocutor), or when referring to an unrelated third party in speech. It is dropped however by some superiors, when referring to one's in-group, and in formal writing, and is never used to refer to oneself, except for dramatic effect, or some exceptional cases.

Dropping the honorific suffix when referring to one's interlocutor, which is known to as yobisute (呼び捨て?), implies a high degree of intimacy and is generally reserved for one's spouse, younger family members, social inferiors (as in a teacher addressing students in traditional arts), and very close friends. Within sports teams or among classmates, where the interlocutors approximately have the same age or seniority, it can also be acceptable to use family names without honorifics. Some people in the younger generation (roughly "born since 1970") prefer to be referred to without an honorific, however, and drop honorifics as a sign of informality even with casual acquaintances.

When referring to a third person, honorifics are used except when referring to one's family members while talking to a non-family-member, or when referring to a member of one's company while talking to a customer or someone from another company—this is the uchi-soto (in-out) distinction. Honorifics are not used to refer to oneself, except to be arrogant (ore-sama), to be cute (-chan), or sometimes when talking to small children, to teach them how to address the speaker.

Use of honorifics is correlated with other forms of honorific speech in Japanese, notably use of the polite form (-masu, desu) versus the plain form—using the plain form with a polite honorific (-san, -sama) can be jarring, for instance.

Hmm...It doesn't mentions anything regarding using an honorific as a sign of affection. Honestly Haunted if Sakura calls Sasuke" kun" means she loves him, then the same can by apply to Orochimaru who uses" kun" for Sasuke too or even Minato who uses an honorific for him too. I know you believe she still loves him, but let me clarify you on something. The Japanese fans and even fans who are neutral in pairings believe she doesn't love Sasuke anymore even Pierot knows she doesn't love him anymore (and we already know they can analyze a middle-schooler manga better than the western fandom. That's why I will stick with their opinion, how can she still love him EVEN after all the negative development Kishi has done between them? It's no joke so much negativity it only shows its a pairing that isn't meant to be. In the end we agree to disagree but take it from me its better to believe fans who are using logic and common sense rather than those who are desperate and want nothing but their favorite pairings to become canon.

But it says that using kun girl -> boy = love/affection, boy -> boy using kun for friends or someone younger or lower station. Arguing that Kun cant mean love for sakura -> sasuke because orochimaru uses it is a flawed argument as -Kun has a different meaning depending on gender.

We are just going to have to wait and see what's in store for us... ( i feel like NaruSaku4life saying this ahahah :hehehe:)

I'm not going to enter much of that but the shounen heroes often looks like westerners in terms of personality, example i dont see Naruto being a wall about being intimate to people, who are shy on having social relations, Naruto seems to not have problems with that.

Example, during the handholding on 615, for Hinata it was liek "oh Naruto is holding my hand" but for Naruto it was like something that he does often and it's not something really really important.
For Hinata it was like the first time she touched Naruto, but for Naruto it didnt had any importance.

As i said, Hinata used "Kiba-kun" it doesnt show that he does have love/affection for that, the problem is that on Naruto we saw often girls using this suffix as addressing by coincidence to the guys they love but with a reason, Sakura -> Sasuke and Hinata -> Naruto, their relationships are distant, Sakura is not intimate to Sasuke and we all know very well, and Hinata the same, to show love/affection to a boy the suffix mostly common used is -chan. which display affection, look how Naruto calls SAkura as Sakura-chan.

Pratically everyone on Naruto refers to Sasuke as Sasuke-kun, even Itachi said "Sasuke-kun" i really dont get that, it would be incribly weird for Sakura to stop saying Sasuke-kun because it would mean "intimate".

Hm? In school(which I graduated a few years back) every girl calls a boy -kun. Because it's a common practice, nothing less nothing more.

When a girl uses -kun with a boy doesn't mean absolutely that she harbours some romantic feelings towards him. Kun is also used by almost females towards boys as a sign of respect first of all.

Calling a boy without any suffixes means that you're expressing a great intimacy towards him and often a lot of girls/boys are reluctant to call a girl/boy withou any suffix.... Didn't you have seen in some manga/anime those situations where a boy/girl decides with effort to call a girl/boy just with their names and no suffixes, especially with those you have not so much intimacy...? That's similar...

Seriously they really are blind if they think sakura isn't the most popular female character in naruto and has a huge fanbase in japan, kishimoto-sensie's main fanbase. Honsetly, they aren't true naruto fans because they're practically bashing the main heroine of the series who has had AMAZING and deep emotional development, both romace-wise , character-wise and-power wise, and the love interest, Haruno sakura, of the main hero, Uzumaki Naruto. That alone is an insult to kishimoto-sensie's work. Not to mention they rub off the japanese culture, which is important to know if you wanna 100% understand the details of the manga.

You can totally fake a blush, the whole reason for the confession was not because she loved Naruto romantically it was to relieve him of his burden. If your going to confess about loving someone and to have it be truthful, it that cant be a side reason, it has to be the main reason and in that confession it wasn't.

im sorry, but i was in a hurry checking the debate thread, passed by this, but no, i just had to sign in just to reply to this cuz its just so wrong on so many levels

ok first off, you cant fake a blush, its biologically impossible, unless blood rushes to your face for obvious reasons. It was romantic. For god sake kishimoto even made the scenery romantic, it was snowing, its cold so it brings lovers closer which makes them warmer, but never mind that, lets get on with sakura shall we? kishimoto stated himself that sakura was being honest with syrprisingly stubborn determination. So why would you think she didnt mean to be romantic during the confession? she hugged him for gods sake, and a hug in japanese culture isnt like a hug here in the west. Its only for lovers and family. In this case its lovers. Sakura explained to naruto every reason since part 1 to part 2 how shes close to him and hes always there to help her and support her and everything else she said that was right and makes perfect sense and we even have manga panels to back up her reasons, which are facts no one can change. Sakura defended herself when naruto said its a lie and lashed him out, is that what liar would do? no. What sakura was lying about was the fact that she doesnt care about sasuke. Thats why she wasnt able to kill him. If she was able to land a hit then i would argue that she was 100%honest during her confession. But she was 99% honest since she said she doesnt care about sasuke, but she does since hed their comrade. Theres absoloutley no way sakura wasnt honest and wasnt romantic. When throughout the whole manga shes been developing close bond with naruto. (Ofcoarse shes been doing other stuff in the manga not just love and bonds sunce shes the heroine.)

Rofl! I wonder why the user didnt add in good looking japanese.. for example Tsubasa Masuwaka..

As for Sakura's confession.. IMO I think she was lying too.. in this part "I love you Naruto" is false, coz she was just recently devastated over the two major people in her life; the verdict of sasuke being a rouge-nin/his extermination, and the part that she herself unknowingly made Naruto suffer, just like sasuke.. I do think she's slowly developing feelings for Naruto while being heartbroken over Sasuke.. but that "I love you Naruto" is just a attempt to manipulate Naruto to return to the village with her..  That part where she no longer care about Sasuke anymore is obviously false..

Then the true parts in her confession are these: She want Naruto to realize that Naruto himself is in too much danger and should return to the village with her, and other parts where she confess that she feels safe that she can touch Naruto...

Well this confession is just a lot to figure out.. x_x

He refered to the part when the VA said that Sakura was harsh with Naruto, on a reply to people bashing her saying she was a b*tch, he didnt said that she was honest or lied on the confession, he didnt give a direct response, she lied ofc but she wanst ignorant and harsh with Naruto.

But she wanst in love with him, it's a lie anyway becuase later she confirms her love for Sasuke so she lied, Naruto doesnt love Sakura because she was at his side and a lot of stuff but because of her forehead her smile when she didnt even give a kitten about him, he said she understood why she loved her on the same moment when she said he was annoying, so you should understand where i'm getting at.

She give him a hug yes but romance with Naruto didnt even crossed her mind there, she only thought about it because Sai told her that Naruto loves her.

She called Naruto a fool for loving her, she showed she deeply cares about him more than Sasuke but it's complicated becuse she loves Sasuke there and she lied for Naruto's sake, she wanted to put aside her feelings for Sasuke for Naruto's wellbeing the same thing Naruto did the entire series, hiding his feelings from Sakura for her sake.

She wasn't there to confess her romantic feelings, the only reason she went there was to stop Naruto from trying to save Sasuke and kill him herself, it was all an act to get him to stop going after Sasuke, she tried everything she could. She lied and she put on a show, she hugged him during the pain arc, does that mean she loved him there, your acting like another shipper group where just because she hugs him that means she loves him no, everyone there from  Sai to Kiba with there dialogue and thoughts made it obvious she was lying. Plus is this the big confession that you wanted for Narusaku because if that is the confession then I would be really worried about that pairing, that was no real confession.

Yeah, it does seem that -kun is just common practice seeing that Hinata uses it to her teammates and others, and not just for Naruto. Same goes for other characters who uses this suffix not just to their interest.

@HauntedCake: I heard that. Lol

But seriously, if I were you, I will follow what the manga tells me to follow and pretty much, follow that -Kun is used for distance. I'm not saying that manga is the whole true on suffix, but rather part of it. That said the manga was written to acknowledge -Kun and -San are for distance relationship and no suffix means close friendship. If the manga wants you to think that, then it shall be done.

When you think about it, Kishi used many advantages to have many characters to use -Kun butt in a long distance way. When it comes down to it, in that universe, no suffix is a great thing. I wonder that's a hidden gem for NS in that chapter.

Hm, i see you guys discussed about the fake confession.. When did the 3rd data book came to the picture, was is before or after the Pain fight? If it came after , then we can say that she didn't know what she feels toward Naruto when she decided to confess , but then again when Naruto told her that she is lying to herself she went on the offensive saying: If you dont like/love me just tell me , and you are not the one who decides who i feel.. I'm not saying that she didn't love Sasuke back then , i am saying why would she use her and Naruto's feelings like that?

Her emotions are complicated beyond any pro/antagonist  when it comes to love.

The point was to push her into the light to get out of the cloudy field she was standing under , she was in love with a guy who she thought was perfect and barely knew..

Now i have to agree that blushes are extremely difficult to fake  even impossible.. , they come from embarrassment  or  when you are with someone you like/love .  We could say that she was embarrassed when she professed in front of so many people , but then again i didn't see her acting like that when she hugged Naruto right in front of the whole village..

Some of you say she was lying about her feelings and she was , but not that she was loving Naruto the lie was she was over Sasuke.

Kishi intentionally did this , she cares deeply for Naruto , but in the same time loves romantically Sasuke , but what did she do?

She chose Naruto's happiness over her romantic feelings and that speaks volumes for me , i mean IF SHE REALLY REALLY LOVED Sasuke how she thinks she does, would she choose to kill him for the sake of Naruto?

She has shown more care and genuine selfless love for Naruto than she ever did for Sasuke , but the thing is she does not know what love is yet...

I mean really why/when/how did she fell in love with the Uchiha? All strings lead to chapter 3 ... and i think that is why she cant let go or forget about him.. She started off with a lot of insecurities her large forehead was one of them , so to fix them she wanted to get the ''perfect guy'' . Every girl was in love with Sasuke even Ino still has emotions and she didnt spent 10 minutes with him ...

That is why kishi  forced her to see who Sasuke actually is and then came 540 fallowed 635 , now we can't say for sure that she has moved on , but we can assume at least..

Now i may be wrong , but that is what i think, feel free to correct me..

Now i have to agree that blushes are extremely difficult to fake , they come from embarrassment  or  when you are with someone you like/love .

I agree with everything said in this post, this was great development for Narusaku, it showed us that Sakura cares for Naruto immensely and that Naruto truly knows Sakura inside out.

I feel like Kishi is gonna make Sakura cry soon enough , because lets face it you dont know what you are missing when you have it next to you , but when  you lose it , that is a different story ^^

Well this confession is just a lot to figure out.. x_x

I think it just depends on the artstyle. Granted the person you've shown looks a lot more attractive than your everyday person. I assume an idol, actor or singer? Anyway she looks just like the females that Maya Miyazaki draws.

People just need to get over the hangups about honourifics, if Sakura or Hinata were saying Mister Sasuke and Mister Naruto (which in a sense they almost are since the old english honourific Master for a young boy is hardly ever used any more) there would be no issue.

Western readers have attached meanings to these words that just aren't there to the Japanese audience

It was before. Here's one thing I realized. A person can understand true feelings quickly if that person don't have anyone else. In fact, the anyone else is often the false love or not the best one. Feelings for another or even in a relationship can block your feelings for the person who you really in love.

There are media that has done this route and many times, one or both of them don't realized until they confront each other and understand what's up. You have one movie with a best friend who is about to marry some guy, but as the movie goes on, she realized her love for her best friend, so she went confusion, then no wedding, then happy ending. Another one is a woman who realized that the man who she best friend for a long time has been the man that kept her feel safe and all the relationships she had are often compare to that man. It took another person to tell her that she was very thoughtful on that man.

You know, if there was a therapy section in the world of Naruto, I would bet that Sakura will keep talking about Naruto on his goals, never ending strive to save Sasuke, his words, him not wanting her to get involved, etc. The more you talk about the guy or show many concerns, the more noticeable it gets that you're in love. Take a look at Sai. He realized that Sakura was being really nice, almost too nice to be frank, so he caught on something, but cut off. Yamato realized it as well when Sakura was told that it's extremely dangerous to get near yet she still did it. Her heart got the best of her.

The databook claimed that she doesn't know her feelings for Naruto and to be honest, until anything else, I still think she doesn't know. For all we know, she may way into herself in that confession that she probably didn't realized hat she was saying or anything and it can get comment on because it was a dark time. If she truly wants to know, she either need someone to question her connection with Naruto and/or she have to drop the feelings of another and start gathering on her own.

That's the catch she doesnt know the extent of this care, she's like convinced herself she loves Sasuke due to the "thank you".

And she was never confronted or questionend, then Sai comes and tells her how Naruto loves her, combined with Sasuek joining akatsuki and how Naruto was putting himself in danger because of his feelings for her, she got desperated and was ready to do anything, the fact is that she didnt planned the confession carefully neither planned to kill Sasuke, Sakura is a very intelligent girl, if she was on her mind correctly she would know when they came back Naruto would find out about their resolution about Sasuke and would be very upset, in other hand, she didnt had anything to kill Sasuke, some of you can argue that the poison was enough but she admitted that she knew she would hesitate.

Which is why i agree with you, she lied on her confession but she got a lot of development in return and her mindset about Sasuke had been broken, then she knows now that she should choose Naruto over Sasuke even if she doesnt love Naruto, it's a win/win situation.

She knows she deserve someome like Naruto and Sasuke is a jerk, so the only thing is missing is her showing where her feelings are now.
