Wow Blacklightning, tell us how you really feel.

I thought my opinion is quite clear.... o well, to make it short, I don't mind crossovers as long as its done well AND makes some sense. what I mean making sense are the type that are NOT:

1. Have modern weapon/technology whatsoever in Naruto world (Such as guns, Beam Rifle, Lightsaber, Ipod, Internet, or Computer for that matter.)

2. Have real life counties in Naruto world WITHOUT a good reason (England, United States and all others is good example. I might feel better if the name is Moon country or whatever, at least it "connects" with Naruto world)

there, is that clear enough?

well In Naruto there is computers, Chouji was hooked up to them in the hospitalafter the first fail Sasuke retrivail arc.

This is a bashing thread isn't it? Or am I the only one thinking that? Anyways I agree there are alot of crappy NaruSaku stories but then again there are alot of bad fanfiction period (especially any by me :-P).

If I remember correctly Kimimaro was hooked up to some medical computers too.
If computers do exist they seem to only exist for medical purposes. No other purpose what so ever.

I recall an interview with Kishi saying the only types of modern technology that didn't exist in Naruto were planes and guns (and the like).

Electricity exists and the Narutoverse is advance to the point of TVs, Computers and short range communications (radios).

Wasn't Team 7 on a speedboat heading to Wave County (but they cut off the engine and manually rowed once in the vicinity) or am I dreaming? In the Chuunin Exams, Anko was watching the events through television screens, and in the third exam a comptuer randomly selected the names of the participants.

Except in methods of warfare, Naruto is actually pretty technologically advanced.

I'm wondering myself why we have a thread full of such negativity and hate open.

Only one story i know has done this well and i like, which would be 'Fury, Guilt, and Love' but it is much more spaced out and things are well written. I must add Craine, the author of this story, is a Sakura basher, yet he has swallowed it and perfectly put Sakura down as how she should be. Except in the first chapter, he may have gone a bit overboard there.

I had a HUGE problem with that story. First off I find it ridiculous for a NaruSaku story to bash the characters in the pairing. I don't mean Naruto or Sakura have to be the pictures of perfection, but that fic really went overboard. I also thought the InoSaku fight (and the ShikaChou jerking offcommentary) was gratiutious, bordering on sexist.

I absolutely can not tolerate misogynistic masturbation. I left a negative review (EDIT: on hindsight I was nicer than I could have been) and not surprisngly the author was offended and tried to tell me he was trying to be funny while calling Ino and Sakura kittenes. So objectifying women is funny these days?

I tend to find this sort of nonsense in a lot of M/F/F threesome and harem fics. ESPECIALLY InoSakuNaru. Sometimes I see it in Yaoi when people try to project their heteronormative mindset onto a homosexual relationship. ESPECIALLY if doing so means creating grotesque caricutures of canon characters.

And to round it off, I can't tolerate racism in fics either. Haven't seen it so much because Naruto is not diverse enough for it to rear its head (which isn't necessarily a good thing but I won't dare to go there). But I have been bothered to read several fics that used the term "nappy" when describing Sakura's hair when it acts up. Sakura doesn't have nappy hair #1 and #2 I take offense to authors using nappy as a negative attribute.

much of the technology in naruto isn't "new" technology, and has been around for a while. the extent of "computers" that we have seen so far, are medical monitors. and i believe heart rate monitors and such have been around as long, or nearly as long as tv has. it's not like they can sit down and play WoW, or Halo or anything.

Sigh... I got back into reading fanfiction again... and what drives me crazy now is when I find a beautiful masterpiece of a story... but it's incomplete and has not been updated since 2004.

I realize that...hence why the thread (s) weren't closed...but there is also a line that doesn't need to be crossed when 'venting', that eventually goes into the realm of plain and simple bashing...criticism and complaints are just fine...it's when they become nasty/mean/personal that it all just becomes counter-productive, and we ask you all to just watch what you all say, and how you all say it.

I've read through some pages of this thread and I think the same about most of the pet peeves mentioned.

One that really gets kind of annoying for me, is when Sakura starts calling Naruto 'Naruto-kun'
For me, it feels really weird, and I like it better when she just calls him Naruto.

This is not a fanfiction hate, just a fanfiction musing.

I've read a few stories where Naruto would transform into Sasuke and get intimate with Sakura (from kissing to fullblown sex, depends on where I'm reading).

I'm amused at how mild Sakura's reaction to this. I'm all for the NaruSaku, but maybe I need to write a story where this happens, Sakura kicks Naruto's face in and joins a convent or something, lol.

There are alot of peeves that I dislike but one of them is actually "The villagers continue to hate poor Naruto even on timeskip" cliche which I absolutely hate.

I mean.. WTH?! The villagers, canon-wise, (as in the whole ENTIRE stadium) cheered for him when he won his match against Neji during the Finals and saw a new light on him. But then on fanfiction, all of the villagers (exclude the major characters and minor ones like Teuchi and Ayame) continue to look down and despise the poor guy, especially on Part 2 basis...?

And during Part 2, I haven't seen any hate between the entire village with Naruto, manga or anime. Seriously, authors need to stop using these cliche.

The whole hate-thing stopped working quite early on. In fanfiction Naruto is banned from shopping for FOOD in the stores and he can't buy other stuff than ramen. Also, the only clothes they will sell him is that bright orange jumpsuit because it "will get him killed quicker if he wears something so visible"... WTF? Does it really work that way? Is Naruto dead because of his bloody jumpsuit yet?

Anyway... I think they should just accept that he won't just keep being hated because of this. It's way way overused, and to be honest... its a little sad that the only way those authors think they can get actual character development is for Naruto to go from a detested individual to someone everyone loves/fears.

Its not as if we've seen any actual hatred towards Naruto save for the parents looking at him in a mean manner when he failed the genin test. Other than that, its mostly because he was a prankster anyway... and I have never seen anything that would say that they refuse him service in the stores/resturants other than Ichiraku... *sigh*
Ok, so I have done the same thing in my fics. I've written a Naruto who was hated, but I don't remember ever refusing him anything. It's more like harsh glares and a couple of random beatings when he was young if anything... and I know that's not too farfetched! I believe they would kick the ass of a prankster of Naruto's caliber if they had the chance, but not because he has a fox-demon in his belly.

And what about the council? Have they thrown their hatred around screaming forhis execution every other second? I seem to recall them wishing for him to be put under house arrest for his own protection against Akatsuki... that seems more like a gesture to try to save the boy's life.

But oh well, I still read this stuff. Its not a storykiller for me that the villagers are hatemachines and the council rips your limbs off for being a "demon lover"... It's just something that galls me I guess.

Naruto isn't really in the village much is he though? We don't know. I think it's up to the author when it comes to village relations. I don't think he's Konoha's Sweetheart, but things are probably better for him in Part 2.

I think that having daily beatings by the drunk lynch mob in Main Street, Konoha is a little bit over the top.

However, sort of insidious discrimination (for lack of a better word) and/or ostracization is okay. He probably didn't get invited to Ino's 5th birthday party, that EVERYONE got invited to. People will take his money, because who's going to refuse that, but they're not rolling out the red carpet for him. And woe to Naruto if anything is found missing after he leaves.

I have to laugh at the justification for wearing/ditching his orange jumpsuit. I think Naruto just like the color orange. It's not that bad of a color, lol. It's sometimes funny and sometimes exasperating to see how people deal with the orange jumpsuit.

I personally find it hard to believe that rude glares from the villagers were all that Naruto had to deal with while growing up. But I also believe that any other actions taken towards him, especially violent ones, were stopped quickly, as I highly doubt the Sandaime would have just stood by and watched.

What irks me is in some fics, Naruto is beaten almost daily, treated and screamed at with names such as demon in public, etc, and the Sandaime does nothing but feel bad for Naruto. I mean cmon, he's the hokage! Of all people, he should have the power to easily put a stop to any actions like that towards Naruto. Those actions right there are pretty much violations of his law, anyways.

My other pet peeve is fics where Sakura and Naruto are together, either dating or married, and Sasuke comes walking into town and she immediately runs to him and sleeps with him, etc. And then she realizes she wants to be with Naruto only, and goes back to him without any consequences. It's in my opinion that Sakura wouldn't be the type to do something such as that.
