I think what is holding things back is not the cop parts, but that there is no continious plot that connects each episode. Like, no big bad. There is Malcolm, but that's just a subplot. I hope the infamous 'father' makes an appearance soon!

And btw I just caught up with ouat and I'm loving Rumbelle. I like that their arguments and equal and not just Belle getting mad at Rumple all the time, that she isn't always right either and their make-up scenes are great. I was worried that their fights would feel repetetive but Rumple's speech in 516 changed that.

Amenadeil is the big bad this season as he was a main villain in the DC comics. Yes he should make an appearance in the show as he does become one in the comics. He appears as a elderly old man at the near end of the series of comics. :) I think the second season will have the entwined series connection that you want this show to have.

since this thread is active i guess ill add my shameless plug ive gotten into arrow, yup and i kinda liked laurel and oliver even though he dc pairings on the small screen are a mess when i read they killd laurel i was shocked then i went to youtube and watched her death i was angry just see for yourself https://youtu.be/3rE5KMx3hCs its just disgusting how they killed her for a kitten pairing that sounds so famillar to me gee wonder why i hope they bring her back

Yup I was pissed at her treatment and how they killed her for a fan ship. It reminded me to much of NaruHina and Sasuke x Sakura.

Green Arrow x Black Canary, Also Captian Cold x White Canary as a friendship or possible romantic otp in the arrowverse. ;)

hmm I have mixed feelings about this.

 

I never really liked the Laurel on the show, and the only thing that made laurelxoliver shippable was their relationship in the comics. I don't think anyone would be shipping them if not for that tbh, unless a shipper could enlighten me? But then, the show characters are nothing like their comicbook counterparts, especially Oliver is nearly the opposite. So of course their chemistry or history won't be the same. But I think it's OK because BC being GA's spouse is not the most important thing about her(unlike Lois lane, Iris, Mary Jane etc). So they're kinda like batmanxcatwoman I guess. But BC is her own character with her own comics first of all. They didn't change the most important thing about her, but they wrote her journey to it very very badly. In the comics she was already an elite vigilante when she met Oliver, and he looked up to her because she was better than him. In the show, everyone on the team is far ahead of her and she's the newbie, she doesn't contribute much on the battlefield etc.

 

She died because I think Guggenheim didn't like writing her or knew how to. So at the beginning of the season they decided they would leave the viewers hanging to keep them watching(worked for me, but now I might be done not sure), plus shock value. No main character was worth killing just for that, except Laurel. And I'm sorry, but they've said again and again that whoever dies won't be coming back. But I don't see how she died for a ship? I assume you're talking about Olicity? Laurel was never in the way of them, unlike Sara, Helena, even that evil colleague from S2. But I didn't really like her last words either, she was apparently deemed so unimportant that not even her death could be about her. It's really nasty, but now the only characters they have left are the ones they care about. And of course Olicity will go back together. hmpf. I wouldn't say I ship them as I think they've taken over the show, but I do like the bond that they have. But I haven't watched since 415 because I heard about that filler cupid episode jfc. I'll probably watch the next episode though.

They really have taken over the show in retrospect and their is a rumor going around that Felcity the Mary Sue will become the Black Canary. If that happens, I will be done with the show they would have pissed on the comics to much for me to like this show. I can not believe that they put a writer in charge that hates the characters so much that he kills her off just so a Mary Sue could get with Oliver.

I've heard about that rumour and it's false. I remember seeing it on tumblr too, there was a really angry laurel stan and I almost believed her and got angry too lol. I think it's stems from paranoia of fans who wants to blame everything on Felicity lol. Can anyone explain how Laurel died for the olicity ship I don't see it honestly?.  But the rumour is from an interview where the words are twisted, it just says that they don't know if the BC title is up for grabs, and that her death will have a huge impact on Felicity. It was the interviewer that suggested that Felicity might become a vigilante and have Curtis replace overwatch. To that they just say we'll find out about that impact in episode 19.

 

 

imo, the show has always been far from the comics. However I see how this particurlar death is seen as a betrayal. I didn't feel like Laurel was valued by the writers when she was alive. We'll see a more classic Dinah/BC on earth 2 soon tho. And there is another BC in the next episode, it's a copycat but not Felicity.

But yea I also think her last moments were badly written, but I don't think it was written to boost Olicity. I'm trying to understand Marc's intentions here. Olicity has been canon for a while now, there isn't much Laurel can do or has done..I think it was her way of moving on? I had no idea she still liked Oliver tho. :s But pushing the love of your life to pursue the love of his life, is a selfless last act. It was a way to let him go and make peace with herself. But I think Oliver should've apologized for all that he's done to her or at least said something, and I think she deserved closure not just with Oliver but her other bonds as well. I also think she should've died at the battlefield, but she was just murdered while having to stand still and then passed away in the hospital. It was really really bad. :/

That's what I have read somewhere in a article interview I will try to find it, and I still think Marc should be fired as he has no respect for the Green Arrow nor The Black Canary brand names as it really shows in the way he writes both characters.
