Among the biggest of the double standards, this is going back to the "Sakura is a demon, Hinata is a goddess" mentality. Just be glad we don't give a crap about them hating Sakura, its not worth it to try and convince them, thats their business. If they honestly feel that the intro naruto hating Sakura still exists, that is their business. Too bad some feel that either hating Hinata or liking Sakura makes you not a fan of the series or makes you some type of heretic. I find Hinata decent but just too limited, again, how can we associate as well with a character that gets limited involvement and hardly any critical story moments? I believe others like Shikamaru, Tsunade, and Gaara got some important story moments yet others act like Hinata should be on the pedestal. Its this reason alone that makes Hinata harder to work with. I mean look at Shikamaru, major role in the Chunin exams, Sasuke retrieval, Immortals, invasion of pain (helping Naruto cope with losing Jiraya) and 4th war. He has a decent role so far in the ten tails revival arc, but he had a simple lazy start, but became much better in each arc showing growth and now look, he is what some fans consider the defacto commander of the alliance before the hokages came in. Shikamaru got enough screen time, we know him well enough as a major character because of this, not so much for Hinata though, her still only present arc with a lasting role is the chunin exams. This current one, she has the chance of stepping up into a lasting role, but again the focus is on team 7 so her involvement may not last long. Once the ten tails reaches critical final form stages, seeing how she just had some space to finish a technique Neji finished well before even the chunin exams began, what would her role be now honestly? I feel that this recent chapter though entertaining in some cases, was mostly filler. Only Sai's moment of recon gave team 7 a notion of how to beat the ten tails, getting over (Naruto) slipping past (Sasuke) and protecting and healing everyone (Sakura) they had the requirements to get close to the main body to pummel the ten tails.

Hinata can still unlock the golden byakugan and her own sage mode. :fu:

Can I ask, why is disliking Hinata so bad? Biasedness aside and weird reasons, I think if someone hates Hinata for a good reason then you shouldn't really tell them they should not dislike her. Can I not like Hinata without someone saying to me "You shouldn't feel that way?" I get that some reasons are a bit unnerving as Sakura could be held accountable for the same crimes and not all reasons hold up, but if I do have a good reason and I explain why...why is this a bad thing? If I don't like Hinata, I don't like her.

I just think Hinata is predictable and she never changes. When you get to a point where you are like "Oh here comes Hinata. Tell us more how you love Naruto" I think it tends to get boring. With other characters, I can kind of guess, but at times throws curve balls. Like Sakura has thrown some huge curve balls in these last three chapters and really gave the notion that she is a character with a lot more depth. We loved this and it made us love her even more.

I guess some don't want us to seem like other fandoms and hate just to hate, but some do have good reasons or at least understandable reasons. I accept that people hate Sakura and say to me "I don't know. I know Kishi is trying and I can see that, but I still hate her." That's fine.

I know we can debate, but just be weary on who you debate with. Some actually have good reasons to hate her character.

Okay.

Not at all. As long as you are respectful and understanding of other's opinions, not liking or even hating character is not bad. And you James are one of the most understanding yet logical people I know.

Okay.

This^ agreed completely with you James. Hinata has become a very predictable and repetitive character. Because you know when there's a panel showing her then we know she's going to be thinking about Naruto as always. It has become repetitive that eventually it becomes tiring and annoying. I feel like Kishimoto could care less about her character since she's not important to the story she's like an add-on like buying something from the Playstation Network but on manga terms, an add on that isn't important to add at all to the story. The fact she hasn't changed with her Naruto obsession it could very much mean Kishi isn't going to bother developing her character for the better. He might as well leave her the way she is and when he's done with the story just show an epilogue showing a panel of her ruling over the Hyuuga clan but not giving any details of her character or if she got marry. Who knows he might not show her at all if he does chooses to make an epilogue.

You know it's funny I didn't used to dislike Hinata, I didn't love her, but I wanted her to become a stronger more independent woman so I held out hope for her. Pairing aside, her introspection in this last chapter does have me peeved because this obsessive focus on doing everything for Naruto is just....plain.....weak. Let me be clear, I held no tolerance for Sakura when she went cray-cray for Sasuke and I can't stand the double standard.
Hinata does it : she's the only one for Naruto, she's beautiful, she's amazing !
Sakura does it: she's an evil kitten, annoying, and useless fangirl.

Now we have a strong Sakura who quite CLEARLY overpowers Hinata significantly, fighting for IMO the right reasons. She's protecting her comrades with a strength born from the desire to be useful to others, more specifically her teammates....and she's crapped on. Hinata seems to be hyper focused on her love for Naruto and the chance that he might accept her....in the middle of a war.....after her cousin died.....she's the best ever!
Sorry this burns me, you throw away any character development she had because she's trying to get her mac on. The same will hold true for me if Sakura decides to think of something fan girlish regarding Sasuke....she's then back to zero IMO....sorry but that's how I feel.

Maybe I'm reading into this incorrectly, I mean I did see a uber small pic of Neji in the darkened panel up top, but the obvious focus is on Naruto holding her hand....again. Perhaps this is purely friendship as another earlier had stated....or acceptance....but following her pattern of thought throughout the manga I don't think it's anything but her inner desire for Naruto's affection.

I know Kishi likes to jerk the fan bases around but this is getting ridiculous .... -_-

Gonna play the devil's advocate by saying this, but what would be the point of Kishimoto-sensei adding in all these Hinata scenes if he would never go anywhere with them? It's seen so frequently with her: What would be the point of throwing it all away?

Exactly, which is really sad. Like CynMichi, I wanted so much more for her. I understand she loves Naruto, but it's like it is all she cares about. I wanted to like Hinata, I really did, but every time she has this moment of awesomeness it gets ruined with the Naruto fangirling. It's like if Sakura did it now with her being this awesome, she is like "Sasuke-kun, you were always so strong and you made me who I am. I want you to be proud." No. Even we would hate that if Sakura did it. Luckily, Sakura isn't like this. She has shown to evolve from the fangirl stage and love someone based on true emotion, not just idol worship.

I proposed a challenge once where I said, "If Sakura can do it, and Hinata is supposed to be much better, why can't Hinata do it?" I would have respected 615 much better if the "big strong hand" comment didn't happen.

Some think it is to show her moving forward past Naruto.

I don't know...but he better figure it out soon.

cause it doesn't make sense for him to have Naruto openly say that he's "more or less" Sakura's GF.....then have Hinata fawn over him....

.....it's like....Hinataaaaa did you NOT hear what Naruto just said to Minato???

and if Hinata is just drawing strength from him.....then I guess that's fine....but she needs to think about others for once :T....ya know....like her team.....or clan...

Why I get the feeling that will happen soon. I feel like a repeat of Pain Arc ending will happen again, only it could be hug again or something more, especially since Naruto's chakra (Kyuubi) is the key to stop the Juubi.

In this chapter, all of the rookies had their own scene, and so it isn't surprising Hinata had her own scenes.

I personally think it might not mean anything, except that unfortunately, Hinata is a predictable minor character.

This. If people are hoping for NH, don't. Let her be a character that's influenced by the protagonist.

The same way they take everything else Hinata related... They will praise her for being so nice and they will always think that she is "cute." While she and others may think that she deserves to have a strong partner by her side, the end of the series should have her forever alone. In this way, the writer will show that shy girls like her never needed a partner in the first place to become strong leaders. Hinata is tuff stuff. I'm upset that her fans have truely missed the point of her character.

:ermm: People like Naruto actually need to put all of their feels somewhere. Which is why NS has been 100% guarenteed from the start.

I guess I joined the party kinda late, so I'm sorry if I say anything that's already been said!  :sweatdrop:  But it was nice to have a chapter without any pairing BS. Yeah, having some NS would've been nice, but it does get kind of stressful to always go through these different opinions on rather straight forward scenes when you'd rather just enjoy the manga while it lasts. I'm just soaking up all the Team 7 glory. If anything, this chapter proved how seriously Kishi takes his parallels, which is good news for us and the Sakura/Kushina parallel.

And I'm guessing that the general consensus here is that flashback-ish scene wasn't a NaruHina moment, and was actually pretty disappointing for her character? I'm starting to get frustrated with her. I know females aren't really well written, but it's pretty annoying that all Hinata focuses on is Naruto. I guess I can see how NH fans find it endearing, but it just turns her into a terrible character. She sort of reminds me of a less vocal P1 Sakura, and I think we can all admit that is not a good thing.

I guess it was a nice chapter, but it was pretty much a filler. Nothing really important happened until the last page when the Sannin parallel was confirmed.

Unfortunately of all the Rookie-9 groups team 8 is the least developed team. Shino is pretty much in the background almost all the time and doesn't have any conflict with himself or anybody besides being forgotten (makes me sad). I really like Kiba, he acts like the hero of his own story. If there was ever another spin-off I would like to see the Kiba&Shino show. This is how I really like to see characters...like, what would their spin-off spotlight manga be like? haha okay back to point.

I'm pretty lukewarm about Hinata's character. I never liked her or disliked her. She could have been a pretty interesting character, seeing her position in the Hyuuga house and how her character did effect Neji's character in the beginning. She had more potentially interesting story than Kiba and Shino because it was set up like that! However her character is hung on Naruto. So I am upset that she hasn't paid so much attention to her clan and Neji to solidify her character as someone more than 'the girl who loves Naruto' because I hardly see her as a leader.

I begin to think - how will Hinata's character be resolved? I doubt that it would end when Naruto and Sakura get together. The thing is we have never really gotten Hinata's thoughts about anything besides Naruto. Sure we saw her smile, but unlike how there was an inner dialogue with Sakura with her thinking "Hinata really loves Naruto". I think her character will have to end once she has a real conversation with Naruto, but I myself have no idea how it will go.

You know, it's funny but it's true that the last pairing development was in fact 631, but sadly it was NS moment, so now, people must grasps the smallest straw in the universe to try to turn the table around. Part of me wants to laugh louder than Sasuke during his crazy days, but part of me wants to feel sad. I don't know which one I should feel, but honestly, I feel more to the first...
