Even in The Last, when Sakura talked about Naruto loving her, it felt like she was trying to justify why they wouldn't be together like some star crossed lovers rather than her not having romantic feelings for him.

Part of that is because it was written in Japan where NS was the pairing that had the big support. So, they needed to explain why Naruto & Sakura getting together couldn't happen, and why nH should. If they didn't they would have lost more fans even quicker because no one would have even attempted to buy that bull. If it was made in the US they would have just outright dismissed it since nH convinced themselves half the time that it was always suppose to happen.

I often think that SasuSaku happened just to get Sakura "out of the way" or some stupid kitten like that, considering how Hinata "fans" (fanatics) had really thought of her as that much of a threat, and because of the fact Kishi didn't care anymore and just had Sakura regress back to who she was before Shippuden, destroying all that made her great, and thus her basically forcing Naruto to settle for Hinata, even if his heart belonged to her and no one else. XP

To this day, I still can't wrap my head around why people support SasuSaku to begin with. Not "we support via proxy because it keeps Sakura away from Naruto, thus maintains our OTP with Hinatagami" but because they legitimately believe that they are a good couple and convinced themselves that Sasuke's loved Sakura since the end of Part One. It baffles me more than NaruHina because I can at least comprehend the rationale of that fanbase(even if it is base wish fulfillment and perversion).

He piggy backed off the bench memory that was Naruto in reality. Which I thought was a complete travesty. Sakura probably never learned her favorite memory of Sasuke was actually Naruto.

and they KNOW it was Naruto who was behind Sakura-Chan's bench scene, I have a feeling they completely skipped over the part where Naruto transformed into Sasuke, and then once the scene was over, they ignored the part where Sasuke henged back into Naruto. Selective reading at its finest.

You haven't read many shoujo manga have you? If this was a Shoujo manga called Sakura they would barely have to change any of the characters (other then making Sasuke actually attracted to Sakura.) Sakura is the exuberant girl with a lot of self doubt that is starting a new life, Sasuke is the sexy dark-hair mysterious rich popular introvert that only smiles at main girl, and Naruto is the blond-hair extrovert nice guy that has feelings for main girl but everyone knows he not going to get with her because the feeling between main girl and dark-hair are too strong. Read any shoujo manga and you will 3/4 times see that love triangle is this.

 

That's why Kishimoto called SS clique, because it looks like a romance ripped straight out of a generic shoujo manga. Kishimoto well understood the people that liked it were girls that were reading shounen for the hot guys, but were imagining shoujo story-lines.

Eh, sorta. The thing is, usually if the main guy is the Sasuke type, he actually grows because of the main girl and usually doesn't stay the same. Sasuke didn't grow at all. I've read alot of shoujo. XD

I take that back. Sasuke did grow a bit, but mainly because of Itachi and Karin. The main point is he didn't grow any because of Sakura.

Even worst is that it clear that's when Sakura fell in love with Sasuke. They even have a call back to it in Boruto anime.

I think it obvious that Karin was a similar substitute to Sakura. So that when NS happen the girls would have SK to insert themselves into instead. Which some people did accept. Thing is he didn't account for Hinata because Yahagi was the editor at the time, and she was a non-entity in the story for the both of them. Which became a problem when the next editor was a huge hinata fan that help set the story on the path to the ending we got.

I forgot to add something to my post about 693 that was on my mind. I also believe her whole confession was an attempt to relieve Naruto of his promise and bring Sasuke back to the village for Naruto as she wanted to do in Chapter 297. I believe the real fake confession was the one in 693, which was to me, an attempt to just protect Naruto relieve him of his promise.

All of Sasuke's team they spent so much time building never did anything really. It was such a pointless sideplot and the 3 were cool characters that should have been more prominent. Honestly, Sasuke should have never gone good. Then the final battle after defeating Madara and Obito (Kaguya doesn't exist) would be them fighting against Sasuke's team, but it ending in a draw. Then Boruto is about Sasuke and his team being wanted rogue ninjas.

 

I've thought about this alot. 

 

Naruto and Sakura end up together and still have Boruto. Sasuke has Sarada with Karin and they make Sarada infiltrate the village, but Sarada becomes conflicted because she becomes close to Naruto. This causes Boruto to feel jealous and gets him to come under the wing of Sasuke and becomes a rogue Ninja himself.

I mean, I guess they feel Boruto is blameless. He's just a kid. If it was just Hinata's husband who needed the help, they would probably let him die so that they could get a chance to tell him what a f***-up he is.
