Okay thanks guys
Okay so here's my input
Like James, I'm also good friends with all kinds of people with different backgrounds. I'm good friends with americans, people from the carribean, central america, south america, africans, people from the middle east, europeans, asians(like the content, you know russians, indians, chinese, koreans, etc.). Jewish, protestant, catholic, Muslim, etc. From very poor to very rich. My school alone is a melthing pot containing so many different races and religions. I grew up around all of these. I have never looked or treated somebody differently because of where they're from, or race, or skin color or religion, or social class, because I grew up with a huge diversity,
However, a lot of people don't have the luxury to grow up like I did. Even the people around me that grew up like I did, are still racist, ignorant, etc. I have learned that everybody is racist against everybody, doesn't matter if they come from the same country or region. White people with other white people(because of their origins), black with other blacks, latino with other latinos, etc. Doesn't matter if they come from the same religion, or same social class. Just because I don't judge people based on skin, religion, race, social class, etc. Doesn't mean other people don't.
James what you're saying is something I, along with a lot of people, would love to see happen around the world, by a large % of the people on this earth. Unfortunately, the world as it stands doesn't work like that. Being silent and not talking about it will just make things worse. Just because something has been happening since thousands of years doesn't mean we should just stop talking about. If we want to see people as other people, we have a long road ahead of us as humans.

I would agree with you if I never went to Naples.
Anyway, the debate we are having now (islans and religions)... I don't like it. Can we avoid to talk about? Also because it's a sensitive topic.

As someone who is social work major and was forced to take African American studies--a rascist requirement by nature...I can tell you right now the more you push race and racism on people the more racist society will be and will become.
It's Already happening in the United states right now.
You wanna know what's worse than being forced to learn African American Studies?

After what happened today in Paris I would be inclined to ask you not to speak of islamic integralism. I just saw a man being shot down and then finished with a bullet in the head. He was begging to be spared.
Hey guys, I don't wanna sound mean or anything, if I am, sorry but I don't know stop talking about oppression I believe the topic is, you all have good points but I just don't want you guys to argue about this, plus it may make people uncomfortable, let's just go back to making fun of Naruto?
I hope I didn't make anyone mad
You know. Other people would say "I don't care if you feel uncomfortable, because those are topic of real life that must be discussed. I will stop when it stops to being uncomfortable to people."
But, since this is a Naruto thread, your comment is relevant.

I mean this in the least combative way possible, but why should we stop having this discussion because it makes people uncomfortable? Now, before you jump down my throat, isn't the point of challenging things like institutionalized racism to make people uncomfortable? It should make you uncomfortable, because it's an awful thing. Tsuki is right, somewhat, I think, that people often become more entrenched in their views when challenged. But is sweeping it under the rug because it's an uncomfortable topic a way of tacitly supporting it?
Note - I'm not saying I'll keep dragging this topic up if people really don't want to talk about it. I'm just thinking big picture for a minute.

I know it's important but it's sort of like religion, it's a very sensitive subject... Also, there's was a horrible shooting paris, they got those who did it, thank goodnessWait what happened I have no clue. And okay I'll take that into account. :(
Also, RyohkiFan I understand your concern and you have a point, but I also think that it's somewhat of a very important discussion that needs to be had. I don't know about you guys, but for the last few years society has been changing drastically, and ideals that once seemed "fair" are finally beginning to change. If nobody wants to discuss it anymore I'm fine with that.

Pity that Paris is not in the US then.
Still I'd much rather stop talking about it. Now.

And you only saw the part where americans are mentioned? Why don't you see the bigger circle? (:
The religion doesn't equate terrorism.
But that's a thought you should have in minds. Anyway, it's horrible what happened in Paris :/

Yes it was all over the news. Continuously. I almost cried, more than once.
But yes, better stop and think of happier thoughts :).

Yeah I'm listening to what happened right now and...man. Wow.
But yeah I'm conflicted whether to stop talking about it or not but this is a Naruto thread so if anything, someone should just make a separate thread for this discussion. :/

I agree, and I think we should take it somewhere else. I wouldn't bother making a thread, but people obviously have more things at heart. Do what you wish, especially because it's a sensitive subject.
And people, please stop making comments that are difficult to not answer to, then tell everyone they don't wanna talk about it. The Islam comment really ticked me off. ![]()

What in the world just happened in here?!
If you guys want to talk about it, that's fine. But it's best to create a separate thread for this where the people who like to discuss this matter can do so freely.

American history is not 'white' history. Not all Americans are white.
Making social workers learn AAH implies the majority of people you will run into as a social worker will be black which is false and RACIST.
No American history is white history. America was built on the backs of people of color and white people took credit for all of it. That's not even much of a debate that's publicly taught.
And AAH is constantly kept outside of "American History" until the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. I doubt anyone in this thread even knows about the Olmec Tribe, or indentured servants before the social creation of race.
But look, I said I was going to stop talking about this in the thread so I'm done.
