MinaKushi is not as strong of a parallel as ObiRin and JiraTsu. These two relationships have so much staggering evidence of it being reminscent of NaruSaku, it's ridiculous to say it's anything but a parallel. Both of them are like mirror images of NS, only they failed and NaruSaku won't. MinaKushi, on the other hand, is different. It has less similarities to NaruSaku but they are underlying and less obvious. Let me elaborate by using the manga:

Kushina:

a) Kushina (about Minato): The first time I heard that, I made fun of him because he seemed so flaky and unreliable. I thought there was no way he could ever become Hokage.

Naruto: Why not?! He was really strong!

Kushina: Yeah ... but I was young and didn't know any better so I looked down on him. Until a certain incident, that is.

Kushina admitted that she looked down on Minato as her first impression of him was negative. And that she felt distain for Minato's dream of becoming Hokage. But she eventually changed her mind.

Sakura:

a) Sakura ( about Naruto): He always gets in the way of my love life. It's like he enjoys watching me suffer and seeing me feel bad. Naruto doesn't understand one single thing about me. He's just annoying.

and

a) Sakura: Hokage, Hokage ... that impossible dream of yours .... I don't want to see it crushed!

Sakura had a extreme dislike of Naruto because she misunderstood him. She looked down on him and even when she began to genuinely care about him, she still called his dream a impossible dream of his, just like Kushina did with Minato. It's true that the entire village thought so but here's why we call still use it.

Kushina:

Kushina: As for women ... well, I'm a women so I really don't know what to say but there are only men and women in this world so you'll want a girlfriend someday ... Just try not to pick a weird one .... Pick someone like your mother!

I don't even need to waste my time on saying why Sakura is like Kushina. Sakura is similar to Kushina and she said for Naruto to pick someone like her. He already fell in love with Sakura.

Kushina:

Kushina: He looked like a splendid ninja then. And he made me believe he could make his dream come true. And more importantly, he changed me. This plain, red hair that I had always hated had brought me my soulmate. It became the Red thread of Fate to me. And ever since then, I liked my hair ... that was when I fell in love with Minato.

Kushina changed her opinion of him because he saved her and became the first person to compliment her red hair that she was teased for and had hated, consequently falling in love with him.

Sakura:

Sakura: Even if I chased after him using my looks, my body proportions are below average. The only thing above average about me is my forehead. I hate it.

Sakura shared similar insecurities about her forehead which she was always teased for as a kid, just like Kushina was with her hair. It's true all girls have insecurites about how they look but Sakura and Kushina were the only ones who were highlighted or shown to have them. This indicates more similarities.

Sakura: Geez ... I'm not a fairytale-believing kid anymore ... as if that would ever happen.

Naruto (disguised as Sasuke): You're forehead is so wide and charming. It makes me want to kiss it. Haha, just kidding. That sounds like some dumb thing Naruto would say.

Technically, Naruto was the first person to compliment Sakura's forehead. She didn't know it at the time, she's thought it was Sasuke. It's possible she fell in love with Sasuke then or at least grew stronger feelings for him because that Naruto was being nice to her, causing her to believe that Sasuke had a nice side and maybe actually liked her somewhere inside him. It's arguable if the Bench Scene will be brought up again in the future but if it is, it would again enforce the MinaKushi/NaruSaku parallel.

Sakura also did change her opinion of him and now believes he can become Hokage.

This is why MinaKushi can be counted as a NaruSaku parallel. Sure it's not as obvious as ObiRin or JiraTsu but you can still see the similarities. I don't think it's desperate to say it's a parallel. The facts are right in front of our faces, especially after the 6th movie.

JiraTsu and ObiRin represent the past and present that NaruSaku is so far, but is meant to overcome. MinaKushi represent how NaruSaku are meant to overcome the failures of the past generations.

I really do want Naruto to complement Sakura's forehead as himself. I want Sakura to believe once again that fairytales do happen when you find the right guy, which is Naruto.

yes i agree too reddragon . but will naruto really give compliment about her fore head and , and will sakura would accept that . cause naruto in sasukes form had already gave it and sakura thought that its real sasuke. so she has a strong feelings for him. like kusina. for minato .if naruto had did that in the past as naruto. he would have succeded.

Funny, that reminds me of a discussion we had a long time ago about the possibility of Sakura being the reincarnation of Rikudo's wife.

I don't know how I would take this if it actually turned out to be true - I mean, its pretty heavily implied that Naruto is the reincarnation of Rikudo (b/c I thought it was already obvious that Naruto's a descendant of his, as is Sasuke, Hashirama, Madara, Tsunade, etc. making it not as big of a deal as it would be otherwise).

It would show that they were fated to be from the start, which would be pretty sweet, but I don't know if it would take away from their relationship in the present - as in, how much free choice did they even have; he was already predetermined to win her over before he even started to try, or was it just as necessary for him to try as hard as he did in his first life?
QUOTE
If Kishimoto still has parallel to offer with other characters I would prefer for it to be with Hashirama and Mito. This previous post I made explains it well:

A parallel with Hashirama and Mito could be pretty interesting, but I don't know if the large number of couples we already have paralleling NaruSaku works for or against the possibility of this happening.
QUOTE
I just hope that Sakura gets to do something that makes her stand out from the rest of the alliance when they arrive. She shouldn't be on the same level of prominence as the rest of the rookies simply for the fact that she's one of the main characters and love interest of the hero.

THIS. Sakura is way overdue some spotlight, especially in the fighting arena. She is the heroine, and Kishi promised us some future heroic feats from her after Kakashi's focus, so I'm hoping that she gets something to really make her shine when she reappears.

Great post - you really highlighted the similarities in NaruSaku and MinaKushi. They have a lot of similar dynamics in how their relationship began (only without the love triangle aspect).

I think that Naruto and Sakura do have room to succeed where Minato and Kushina failed. I feel like each relationship comes closer to success than the one before it: ObiRin was cut short before anything was able to even be expressed, JirTsu realized their true feelings, but too late after being hung up on old loves for too long, and MinaKushi expressed their love and got together, but their chance to have a family was cut short due to circumstances outside of their hands.

Thus, not only with Naruto and Sakura have a chance to express their feelings directly to one another, and realize their feelings in time to do something about it, they will also have the chance to have a long happy life with a family of their own.

I'd like to see this as well - I think it would tie off the pairing so nicely to bring it full circle to where it all began, so to speak <3

First of all, great post to xxRomanceGirlxx. I salute you. Great post from everyone in here.

There's something that popped up in my head. Tsunade is in grave danger. I don't know her fate yet, but it doesn't look good at all. That said if she is going to die, do you think it will be the perfect chance to see her real feelings for Jiraiya? I am curious and I know this is not the right place, but I just want to know your opinion. I mean it always bother me that it felt like a pause to her feelings being revealed when she broke down and cried for Jiraiya's death. I feel like Kishi didn't want to go in-depth with that until further notice. It must be just me but that's how I felt. I mean it was only one scene and that was it. It is possible that it will be elaborated before she goes. Again, it's a if and only if. So time will tell. I just wanted to share with you.

The only reason why I want this to be true is to see Gyuuki trolling Kurama about his old fears, specifically the Rikudo's wife. It'll be hilarious laugh.gif .

I would like Tsunade to have some introspection about her past and her relationship with Jiraiya, the only problem is would now be a good moment for it? Shes already done this dance with Dan, not saying that she wasn't or isn't allowed to be in love with both of them but her reunion with Dan was all about Tsunade letting go of the past which has crippled her for so long, which is a pretty big piece of development and resolution for her character.

As nice as further parallels with NaruSaku would be I think maybe her feelings for Jiraiya would work better as one of those things implied but better left unsaid.
This is all assuming she will survive, if she dies then I could very easily see her having a introspective moment like Jiraiya had as he was dying.

I've always wondered about that too. Apart from the moment when Tsunade said she was done with running and that Jiraiya wouldn't have to keep trying to get a chance from her ( Not as clear-cut as that but that's what it meant, more or less) and then the crying scene after she found out he died, we haven't really seen much of JiraTsu in the manga.

But honestly, if Tsunade dies, I guess I can see her having a regret moment like Jiraiya did when he died. She's more or less let go of most of the past but maybe we'll get something along the lines of I wish I could've given Jiraiya a chance beforehand, not when it was too late. It could definitely associate with passing the previous generations. Like Naruto could almost die and Sakura could admit her true feelings for him because she thought he was dying or dead or something. Sort of like in Ranma 1/2 when Ranma thought Akane was dead. happy.gif

But is it likely? I don't know but it's definitely not impossible. If Kishi feels the need to like he did with Jiraiya, then it would make sense with the storyline. Maybe about 60% chance of that happening. And thank you. biggrin.gif

So can someone explain me why I'm wrong with my interpretation, because I cannot get this Jacob stuff and Edward been similar to Sasuke at all since from the start he loved Bella to a point where he was about to kill himself when he thought she died and only abandon her because he felt he was being too over protective.

Well, I can't answer you there, but if anything, it's more of a Shoujo romance....a really bad one. Yes, I find Twilight atrocious. I didn't read it really, but judging from the summary and some points, it really makes me want to hit someone. The main character is so bad. If the main character is bad, why even read it? Main character is suppose to connect you, not drift you far away. Well then, that rant is out of the way, the point is that I don't know and you shouldn't look hard into it. But if you really want an answer, just hope someone in here will. But knowing the highlights, I don't see any connections to Naruto. It's more of a Shoujo style.

well the first problem is that there is no direct comparison to the pairing or for thatmatter any of the pairings in naruto at all. In all honestly only SasuKarin even has a remote comparison given that their is a slight correlation to Sasukes hurting of Karin with Edwards leaving of Bella.

Beyond that though the characters are entirely different in personality and motivation. Sakura is far more lively and direct then Bella. And Sasuke is far colder and more arrogant then Edward.

Even Naruto is louder and more open then his closest analogy which would be Jacob. And is just as close to having similarities to edward given the monster inside me angle.

that said though again there is very little direct correlation between the stories and their respective development of characters and romance. Sasuke has never held feelings for Sakura so this alone renders the similarities moot.

In fact the one closest to Edward in his feelings for Sakura, his willingness to sacrafice for Sakuras happiness, and the one most likely to feel enough pain as to go near suicidal upon her possible death would be Naruto.

long story short the main unarguable fact that kills any comparison between the two pairings is the notion which SasuSaku fans always fail to remember. And that is plain and simpley that Sasuke has NEVER shown a romantic inclination towards Sakura or any feelings at all beyond friendship or Team 7.

Im also pretty sure if tsunade is really going to die, shes for sure going to have some flashbacks like jiraya had maybe about sakura and naruto. At least i hope so would be nice if she has some ns supporting flashbacks. biggrin.gif

Edit:
Could it be that jiraya never really confessed tsunade because he couldnt bring back orochimaru, just like naruto if he would not be able to bring back sasuke??

I'd say that Tsunade has a good chance of dying this time. Her injuries are beyond atrocious, and she has decided to forgo medical treatment for herself in order to try and heal the other kage, seemingly setting up for a heroic sacrifice.

That being said, if Tsunade dies, then I would prefer, over anything else, for Sakura to be there, so Tsunade can impart some last words of wisdom on her. That has the potential to ignite all sorts of positive character development and growth for Sakura. Any regrets she had over not realizing her feelings for Jiraiya, or perhaps for running from them for so long (so she wouldn't have to open herself to that sort of hurt again) could be communicated to Sakura at this time.

And really, Tsunade wouldn't even have to die for them to have that discussion. If Tsunade just thought she was dying, near death experiences I think are just as capable of bringing about such inner revelations, and a desire to pass on the lessons you learned too late to the next generation so that they won't make the same mistakes you did.

Sorry but Edward wasn't any evil person, I'm not a Shoujo Manga fan so I cannot tell you if the movie is close to that, there's one thing for sure I feel people wanted Jacob the same way NH fans wanted Hinata or general fans but Edward/Bella is far better than B/J plus Jacob was too insensitive while Edward just wanted to protect Bella at all cost, also there could be a chance that you are referring to the book on not the movie adaptation since I'm speaking about the movie adaptation for the first 4 movies I saw last night.
I find it far from what people criticize, if anything now I want to go to a theater Nov. 16th to watch the 5th and last movie.

About him being bad, Edward Kill rappers, Killers, terrorist and still feel awful about it because there were still human beings.
The bad one are the leaders.

well the first problem is that there is no direct comparison to the pairing or for thatmatter any of the pairings in naruto at all.

And that is plain and simpley that Sasuke has NEVER shown a romantic inclination towards Sakura or any feelings at all beyond friendship or Team 7.

that and Uchiha dont sparkle tongue.gif

Agree more with the bolded part only disagree with SK, SasuKarin is not even close to Edward/Bella in any aspect, Edward stepped away/walk away because he felt that was suffocating Bella by over protecting her, in fact none of the pairing in Naruto are close to them and worse SasuSaku. Edward really loved Bella, if anything Naruto have is personality just by a bit, just a little bit since Edward really show that he place Bella above everything and everyone else including himself and Naruto focus a lot more on Sasuke and while he likes Sakura he doesn't makes her know how important she is too him, he show the readers something, but he acts with Sakura a little colder after time skip.

Why we believe NS has more chances than the other pairing? Is mostly because of the Big change Sakura had with Naruto to where her romantic feeling for him are being questioned and nothing in the story has proven that Naruto doesn't feel the same way about her, or does not love her anymore.

Let's try to keep all the Twilight discussion out of the NaruSaku debate thread, though I'd like to drop the quick points that Edward was a controlling jerkbag, who left the girl out in the woods to die, and would have cut her off from all her friends because of his jealousy/obsessive/overly-possessive issues. Comparing people who like Jacob/Bella to Hinata fans without any basis in fact is pretty wrong too.

Let's move on now, people.

so 1st thing twilight. i dont think that sasusaku can be compared to bellaedward. if we take bella as sakura then she love sasuke or edward and care for jacob. just like naruto but sasuke isnt in love with sakura. he tried to kill her. and in other hand edward is crazy for bella. so it cant be. second thing tsunade she is an important character . and the nearest to naruto after jiraya. and she is the hokage . she is injured very much but she is the best medic ninja ive ever seen. so i dont thing she is going to die. but as i say every time the god is the person named kisimoto .here if he want he can do everything .
