"A couple mil" is enough to put the film above RtN and allow the Pierrot the peace of mind knowing they chose the right course of direction by appealing to the nH proponents, Hinata fans, and those with their brains stuck in their genitals. And the casual market is not something to be underestimated. A large number of ticket sales are derived from those who don't follow Naruto normally, but have an interest in watching the films that premiere in theatres every year.
 

Well I said if they're lucky, may end up making well below that. Besides, why would they add the Last's foreign profits to its two month box office tally? They didn't for RTN.

 

Also, good news, if it hasn't been posted here already, Big Hero 6 is now #1 at the Japanese box office. Oh and the Last dropped to #7.

I'm sorry, is this "Sorcerer Supreme" intended to be portrayed as a credible source? I just hear him spouting off randomised statistics. The figure on Wikipedia yesterday that had The Last earning 10 billion yen is equally as "credible".

Profit is profit. It may not be factored into the tally, but the money is still ultimately going into Pierrot's clutches which is what we do not want. It's reaffirming that their product is popular and well liked by the majority.

We were already told this. Films generally decline in the ratings after some time. How does this make The Last any different than RtN?

What about Shikamaru's cheap lookalike, the fat gumball that spawned from Cho/Karui's spontaneous love, Kurenai's daughter, or the mutant creature that Ino excreted out of lust for Sai? Surely there's one other spawn that people can find interest in.

As far as I know, his translations haven't really been refuted, but people here including me were just calling him out on not translating the ''pity part''. But Ive been away from these forums for a while now so I mightve missed some things. But even if that was the case, Takl's bias has been exposed and will try for Hinata to be kept in a good light...not translating the pity part is one of the instances. Still...I dont think he will go as far as mistranslating things....

I'm just curious to see if there's anything interesting about Salad. I think she's the only female Uchiha (apart from Mikoto) we've ever seen. How will Kishi's Uchiha boner and his innate sexism clash in this case? Really, it's more of a study case than anything else.

Wouldn't other factors be taken into account? You have the Last, which received a ton of hype, a big budget, was officially tied to the manga finale and actually called chapter 699.5. Then you have Road to Ninja, which received less hype, a smaller budget and was not officially tied to the manga's main story at all. Even if the Last managed to surpass RTN in profits, at the rate its going now, it doesn't look like it would surpass it by a lot. Worst case it makes less than RTN.

 

The studio heads would probably look at this and think, "hey why didn't this movie, which we spent more money to make and market, which opened at #1 at the box office completely blow RTN out of the water? A movie which opened at #3 at the box office, and to which we gave a smaller budget and less marketing? 

 

In the end, wouldn't RTN have given them a better return on their investment?

 

One more thing. There are DVD sales to take into account. Does anyone really think that the Last will outperform RTN in DVD sales?

Bias that clearly has gone into influencing the context of his translations. For instance, he was the one who argued that Junko's supposed quieting of Kishi was related to Nakamura. Or, as another example like you said, Kishi's final ending being inspired by pity for Hinata. Most sources from who we heard, including some who attended JF, will attest that Junko did indeed silence Kishi as he was in the midst of flip-flopping from Hinata to Sakura again. The fact that takL is offering up such contradictory information is grounds to question just how much of the truth is actually being conveyed with his translations.

Admittedly, I do like the fact that Kishi went through with making Kurenai's child a girl. He mentioned in a previous interview that its sex was a contentious issue he was still on the fence about before we learned his decision. Still, as you've already mentioned, we shouldn't much in the way of relevancy or ambition outside of romance for her.

 

As for the Sasuke spawn, like you said the Uchiha aspect will inevitably clash with Kishi's inherent desire to undermine any worth of his female characters beyond their hormonal desires for men. It doesnt' even appear to be a standard combat oriented ninja because of the attire. That leads me to believe that Kishi won't be doing much with it. At best the spawn could learn some medical ninjutsu from its dust killer of a bearer. The Sharingan can't be obtained without experiencing some kind of deeply traumatic event in one's life. In this new world, there's no conflict or animosity remaining. How could it acquire anything?

Because they're aware of the fact that with any ending and their efforts to reinforce it via a film that it would garner a lukewarm reception from a certain demographic of the Naruto fanbase. Why do you think The Last is already being prepped and ready for theatres in 7 different countries when it's been only a month since the initial release?

 

Pierrot's concoction doesn't need to be highest grossing Naruto film. Of course they would prefer it if more people were receptive to the silliness they're supporting, but I believe their desire to prop up Hinata overrides their interest in preserving the story's integrity. As long as there's a net profit then I suspect it'll continue without much fuss. The Last would have to be earning very little at the box office for anyone important to notice.

Unfortunately for him, we have proof that his version is bs, confirmed by two Japanese fans who went to JF. We also have our translators who said Chief wasn't mentioned in the tweet.
