A lot of people in DBZ are better dads than Sasuke. Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Demon King Piccolo, Vegeta, King Cold, King Vegeta, Bardock, Cell, and debatably Paragus.

Actually, Goku was really a better Dad during the Cell Saga. Especially during the Kamehameha battle Gohan had with Cell. Training Gohan during the Hyperbolic Time Chamber year he was supportive. and he left Earth and stayed dead just to protect everyone, including Gohan from threats because he had a point. Every threat in DBZ before that time came ONLY because of Goku. Raditz, Mecha Frieza, the androids as well.

And since the fans opinions and DBFZ isnt canon, I could bring Bojack Unbound and Broly Second Coming in by saying he literally defied the rules of the afterlife itself to save Gohan, as well as Goten during the latter movie, which is no easy feat and he could only break during desperate times.

While Goku left Earth, thus leaving Goten and Gohan for 7 years, not only was it a plausible cause, but he was bound by the rules of the after life which, as I said before, he could only break during desperate times. Sasuke was roaming around the world. He contacted Naruto, yet not Sakura or Sarada for 12 years? He wasnt bound by anything from my knowledge. Sorry for the long essay, but Im a big fan of DBZ...

Exactly and it is shown by having the guy never home and wanders aimlessly and never having an end goal for it. Naruto is not considered the best either since he is a workaholic and hardly at home as well.

In Naruto's case, Griff, I always figured it was because of his being actually AFRAID of his kids and wife after Himawari knocked him out before his inauguration as Hokage, just because of an argument she and Boruto had over her toy and her trying to literally KILL him over it.

Maybe but man he could handle being punched by Sakura and then sent skyrocketing like Team Rocket, but the dude would be right by her side without question. To me it is not an excuse because his father Minato married a fiery Kushina and was Hokage, but still had time for her.

And during Super, we've seen Goku spend a good deal of his downtime with his family in between his training sessions and his job as a farmer.

that's an understatement, he went into a fit of rage when he found out goku black killed goten and chichi and proceeded to beat the crap  out of zamasu and goku black, well until goku black used his divine lasso move.  sasuke didn't even bat an eye when sakura was kidnapped in gaiden.

 

in case someone asks, for those who have not played xenoverse 2, divine lasso is the name of goku black's move in dragon ball super  where he impaled goku with all those ki blades then had them explode while he posed.

I personally don't really care if Goku is bad father or not and to be honest to me he is not , or at least not as worse as Sasuke. First of all Goku is NOT HUMAN , he is an alien Saiyajin. So that's already one excuses that normal human lifestyle can't be fully apply to him. In saiyan culture if i remember when goku and other saiyan babies born they were graded by their rank or power level and then immediately send into planet , if the babies weak they send them into planet with weak inhabitant , Bardock and Goku's still unknown mom didn't even care about him. So for those who said Goku is a bad father i understand but to say that he is like Sasuke or worse i disagree.

 

Goku did not neglect his family , it's just that the villains is coming and so they have to prepare for battle , so i think it's bad time. We still see goku try to work time on time all thanks to Chichi leader assertive able to control him , we see Goku work in farm tending to crops / chore , try to get license to drive , attend on Gohan school internship though i know that some of that maybe filler. Though he sometimes complain that he might get rusty if he don't train but he did not sneak away when he can. He also train Gohan because he wants him to be strong fighter like him or better than him , but when he let Gohan fight Cell and saw him in pain and agony Piccolo words :"I don't understand why a father let his son to death , he maybe a super saiyan and stronger now but he still nothing more than a kid" instantly snap him out of it , Goku instantly after hearing that like "Kuririn give me a senzu!!" , he's basically like "What the F have i done to my son?".

 

I think there's a reason why Goku did not really train Goten that much because he knows that his kid have their life their own dream. And their family is poor we know Chichi has been using her father fortune and she said it's almost running out , thanks to Gohan smart at school and get scholarship + marrying billionaire daughter of Mister Satan , Videl they not really need to force Goku to work , Gohan alone is rich he works at big company. And i heard people wants Gohan to step up and take Goku's place because Goku need to retire ... i personally disagree , Goku is full saiyan DNA , Gohan is half breed. Gohan wants peaceful life while Goku to him fighting is like drugs he can't lived without. Goku is not a terrible father , is just that working like normal human and provide for family IS NOT IN HIS BLOOD/DNA he is an alien , but at least he tried to work. Unlike Sasuke COMPLETELY IGNORED AND ABANDON his family.

Paragus is probably going too far. He was using his son to serve his own revenge against the Vegetas. And he then tried to abandon him on a doomed planet. There's really no evidence that he even cared for Broly. And Broly was the one who saved his life by creating a shield so that they could travel through space. He would've died otherwise. Hell, he would have died if King Veg didn't try to kill them. Broly would've just escaped on his own without him. So he didn't help Broly at all. I would say that he's worse than Sasuke.

 

King Piccolo I'm not sure about. It's probably a tossup. Since he basically forced Piccolo to serve his own agenda. The other ones are better.

Let's just say most people in DBZ and in anime in general are better people that have more compelling back stories, and their growth over time put Sasuke to shame.
Really the only people with at least good development in the second have of Naruto which is Shippuden is really Naruto and Sakura. These two grew the most and the other Konoha 11 members didn't really grow at all besides maybe Shikmaru and Sai. They others didn't have much screen time unlike part 1 and that includes Miss precious Hinata

Goes to show if he can't even recognize his own daughter because he has never been there for her, then he doesn't deserve to have his family. To me she just exists for the sole purpose of passing on the bloodline.

Yeah, and we saw with Vegeta too that he had his fair share of mistakes with Trunks, and he'd grown a lot too since the battle with Buu, given he admitted he had never held Trunks as a baby, and yet he was showing how to hold a baby to his son when he held Bulla after Trunks was holding her.

Well, I did say debatedly. I think Paragus loved Broly at one point, before his desire to take revenge on King Vegeta consumed him. Paragus was a high ranking officer if I remember, so of course he'd have great loyalty to King Vegeta. To want to defy King Vegeta for the sake of his son? He knew he would get executed, but he still did it to keep Broly alive. Paragus even stayed with him when Broly punched his eye out. During the time surrounding the movie, he was a terrible father, but at the start, when Broly was a baby to in his early teens, he was decent.

 

As for Demon King Piccolo, didn't Piccolo himself choose to avenge his father? And besides, meeting Goku was the bet thing that happened to him. Even unintentionally, DK Piccolo is a better father. 

 

 

 

At least both of these guys KNEW their children. Ah, DBZ makes me go on tangents I love it so much...

Kishi knows that a good fatherly Sasuke is a complete ooc to his character is the best way for him to avoid was to have him wander around aimlessly for 12 years with really no planning to come back to be honest, but show up when they need him. It's very stupid.

Yup, and like I said before, Goku was dead. He couldn't just roam as a soul in the world of the living. Bojack and Broly were desperate times, which call for desperate measures. Besides, he took the chance of being able to come to Earth for 24 hours. 

 

Sasuke was not bound by anything. And if he was, he couldn't visit once? There are 4380 days in 12 years, if we're not taking leap days into account. Sasuke couldn't visit even once in all those days? It's so ridiculous. He doesn't even write to Sakura. Not once. It's utterly ridiculous.
