Just to backtrack, what is the appeal to SS beyond "they look hot?" I am genuinely curious.

Well in less then 10 chapters she goes from "Don't tread on me" with Naruto around to "I'm puppy and going to wait for you forever even is you spit on me" with Sasuke. And even without any true resolve to her, it's magic.

Typical pairing you see in shojo. Hot badboy and girl who has a major crush on him. That's probably why it's so popular lol, you see this kind of pairing everywhere in shojo. It's why the majority of SS shippers are girls too. What's in the best interests of both characters don't matter, as long as Sakura gets with Sasuke. They see themselves as Sakura, basically wanting to get together with the hot guy. I guess that's the appeal to SS. That's my take on it, since I used to ship them and still kinda do.

I'm not kidding. My brother mocks people in today's world that women should not be the protagonist and sales/ratings drops because of women. He's not the one saying but he knows what people has been saying. He's all for anyone, man or woman, so long the story is good or entertaining. That said I feel like the audience can be biased about it. Like how The Last of Us got critique on the cover, because it's a girl, yet they defend that they believe they can be prominent and can garner same popularity as just guys.

That's why this manga makes me sick.

I'd say it's the little nurse complex. A very tragic kind of self-sacrificing woman whose aspiration is:'I will save you from your demons'. A typical case of masochist females, they do exist in RL and they are even quite numerous.   

 

Food for shoujo and angsty telefilms, but it does tend to happen a lot in real life, that's why many abused women tend to stay with their abusers, it's because they want to 'save' them. Tbh I'm pretty sure there are various psychological studies on this topic.

At least the guy didn't attempt to kill her.

OH LOL. I've just finished watching it, and I was pretty much scratching my head the whole time. Girl should've whopped his ass. But nope she was all in love with him and stuff, a real masochist. 

He didn't try to kill her but he treated like a dog which tbh is quite insulting, even for a shoujo.

The Last and a bunch of fillers that will showcase NH and SS romantic love are the only things that are canon.

Ok. Both these answers make sense even if I find them to be really problematic.

So is it fair to say NS shippers are the only ones who cared about the pairing because it made sense based on the plot and logic of the manga?
