And he says that this would only be the *first* Airbender movie of a possible three!

~~~
I'm sure there's comedic moments, the trailer just needed to look all 'dramatic'
And it worked! The action so far looks pretty kicka$$ to me
Just looked up the cast list.... Looks like Yen Sid from the recent Iron Man movie's been reincarnated as Iroh! XD
You can't deny, though, the series had some pretty powerful drama too, and this movie seems like it will capture it very well.
I do wonder one thing:
WHEN WILL WE SEE A GOOD SHOT OF APPA AND MOMO!?
I'm sure there are humerous parts but the movie is mostly drama so they are showing that in the trailers.
That little clip of Katara talking to Aang reminded me of the emo-Katara in the play from season three
LOL, hell no. Not even close. If Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars couldn't do it...then, yeah, no.
Yeah, James Cameron's Avatar broke 2.24 billion in gross revenue and is still raking in money. We'll honestly be lucky if all three movies breaks that. And just a comparison all 6 star wars movies had a gross revenue of 4.3 billion. Just to give some perspective.
NO. PHUCKIN. WAY.
I doubt all 3 movies will make up to that, if of course 3 movies are made.
Well, we have to consider: Avatar is just a movie that came out with no real fanbase connected to each other other than "OH MAH GAWD GO SEE THIS", and we also have to consider and average in people re-seeing the movie over and over again (I've seen it happen). Will The Last Airbender's established fanbase from the main show attract some form of challenge? I think it might, if M. Night pulls off a good movie.
Cameron has a kind of effect. When people here James Cameron, it becomes a MUST SEE.
The Last Airbender depends on it being a REALLY good movie, and the fanbase getting more people out to watch it.
I agree considering how the characters were developed they are being very racist if you ask me
Katara & Sokka should be either native american, black, or dark hispanic
Aang should be asian
Zuko well... it really wouldn't matter to much I guess
Productions are racist and the many people will see that rather or not they are avatar fans.
On top of that, for how hard they're trying to make the Fire Nation look dark, the actor who is going to play Avatar Roku is white. Okay...does this mean Dev Patel is going to have to bleach his skin for the third movie?
And for me, it's not so much getting the right ethinicites for the characters as it is to making me buy these actors as playing those characters. For example: I think Dev Patel is better suited for playing Sokka! I still can't see him as the Zuko I know; I keep seeing the poor little Indian boy in Slumdog Millionaire (which to my knowledge also did well) getting his ass whooped! Aang, on the other hand, I will let slide, because they got Noah to LOOK LIKE HIM. Simple as that! The same reason why I'm excited about the Prince of Persia movie; I can buy that dude as the Prince of Persia I played. Heck, Shauna here is more qualified to play Katara than that girl!
I know I'm making it sound like I'm going to hate this movie, but I do think it will be a lot of fun. I just think that for even the most forgiving Avatar fans, the obvious racial bias is going to prevent us from giving this movie a perfect score.
