Well, the anime somewhat reinforce my approach to Alola region: wacky. Is there some odd stereotype that I am unaware from Japan? Naruto Movie 3 vibe is returning and not in a good way...

Alright based off my first impressions:  I'm looking at Ash more than I am about anything else. I'm getting the sense he's going to get the Black and White treatment again, and ugh.. I hope that isn't the case otherwise I'm gonna flip because I already had to deal with that kitten I'm not gonna make that mistake twice. As for Lillie being there, She looks like an interesting character I'd want to know. The premise being around Ash going to school is kinda of a throw off to me, but I'm willing to check it out. That's about it. 

 

The best I'm gonna do is wait for a trailer, and the first couple episodes to make my full judgment.

The season on Unova, no ships, a stupid Ash, more fillers, almost a reset complete, hate Main female, In Sinnoh was in top 8, Unova he went back to top 16.

Pairing: Ash and Iris relationship was hate it for the fans, possible because it was really plain friendship  I mean no hints, no moment of romance. 

 

Filler: Many after the league and during their trip  on Unova to Kanto. Trolling too. Cilan and Iris wanted to travel with Ash to Kanto, assuming they could keep travel with Ash, then when arrive to Ash's region what surprise Cilan and Iris decide to travel alone in Kanto.

But More about it:

 

I assume you talking about the outrage. Well it because this time it actually looked like Ash was going to win this one. Everyone and Everything to the point that even the story it was talking like he was going to win. With Cameron it wasn't the final battle and when he lost it was more a "...you're kidding me he lost to that idiot." Instead of a "how dare you have him lose again!"

 

That's what people are saying. IF it is true or not I don't know.

 

Here is an important thing to remember is that Best Wishes was incredibly popular in Japan (at least until the islands of filler) but disliked in the West (who hated the islands of filler). While X Y where liked in the West but had some of the lowest rating Pokemon had in Japan.

 

So they probably brought the writer back in hopes they could work their charm and bring back the Japanese. The thing is remember best wishes is that i always got a sense that the person who wrote it was a big fan of the original series and wanted to bring the Pokemon anime back to it roots. By making team rocket a threat again (which was one of the  few things Japan didn't like), and making Ash 10 and inexperience just starting his journey with his best friend pikachu. Since it always felt the most disconnect with the other series. it always felt more of a reboot then the other series.

 

So they probably thought that Ash shouldn't win the tournament. Since he didn't win in Kanto. He did not win in Unova. So he should not win in Kalos.

Keep in mind they didn't use the female character of the Black and White games in the BW anime. Instead they used the gym leader Iris.

IIris was the worst lead for the main reason that she was annoying and was practically useless. She had no purpose.
